In the morning Elaena woke, her head was laying on her husbands bare chest. She looked up at his resting face and smiled, her hand going down to trace over her stomach. It was starting to swell, and if you looked very closely you'd see a tiny bump.
"It's rude to stare" Jacaerys mumbled smirking with his eyes now open.
"I was not!" She said back with a smile.
"Were too" he answered, making them both laugh loudly at their childish argument.
Elaena sighed, turning around to rest properly on his chest, closing her eyes as the sunlight came in through the window, warming her face.
"I miss the boys" She murmured, talking of her three young brothers that were away with Rhaena.
"I know, but they're safe, that's what's important" He whispered, his finger tracing along her back, as she nodded at his words.
"Mother took the news better than I thought she would" Elaena said, her hand resting on his chest.
He nodded smiling "She seemed happy, that is clear. Perhaps this baby is a blessing for all, in this dark time" he said, moving his hand up to play with her hair instead.
She continued smiling, until her face dropped, and a familiar nausea crept up her throat again. She jumped out of the bed yelling "oh gods!" As she ran to the bathroom.
Thankfully, she made it in time. She leaned over the basin, emptying her stomachs contents. Jacaerys was quick at her side, rubbing her back comfortingly as she did.
After a minute she finally turned back around. Jacaerys grabbed a cloth that was beside them and wiped her mouth making her smile weakly at him, muttering a thanks.
She sighed "And the morning had been going so well" she said rolling her eyes.
"The maester said this shouldn't happen for too much longer, that it normally stops after a few months. And your already a few months in" he said, pulling her into his arms as he kissed her forehead tenderly.
"We have a meeting in an hour don't we" she said grimacing at the thought.
"Do not fret. I shall tell them your not well" he said rubbing her back.
"No! Don't start this" she warned turning in his arms to face him with a stern look.
"Start what?" He asked, trying not to smile at her face. It was cute when she tried to act serious.
"I know you jace, now that I'm with child you'll be panicking. You'll try make me do as little as possible, because your worried. And as much as I appreciate you, I'll be fine" she said placing a hand on his shoulder.
He sighed knowing she was right. Ever since they were kids all he had ever wanted to do was protect her from any harm. Now that she was carrying his child it only made him more anxious.
"I'm going to this meeting, as much as I dislike them" she said sighing as she stood.
Jacaerys stayed on the ground, his face grumpy. He didn't want her to go, not when she had just been sick, but he knew he couldn't change her mind.
She smiled at his annoyed face, turning back around to lean against the door. "Don't you want to help me dress" she said with a suggestive tone.
She laughed as he quickly got up, walking over to her before lifting her up in his arms giving her a soft kiss, making the two old them laugh.

Around an hour later all the council members walked into the room, Jacaerys and Elaena included.
As they all gathered at the table, the two noticed they were all being stared at. Jacaerys leaned over to his wife whispering in her ear "Do you think they know?"
She scanned their faces "Definitely" she answered as they all continued to stare at them.
Jacaerys pulled out a chair, making her sit on it. She did reluctantly, not before rolling her eyes at him before.
Once Rhaenyra has walked in and sat in her seat, everyone else sat down, making Elaena feel slightly less uncomfortable, although people continued to stare at her.
"Bring him forth" one of the men said.
Elaenas brows furred, turning to look at the door, wondering what the man was on about, she noticed a man being walked in with a guard in front of him.
The man, who was clearly a knight, moved to stand at the table, directly opposite Rhaenyra, and he stood beside Jacaerys.
"Ser Steffon Darklyn your grace" a nearby guard said introducing the man.
"Is aught amiss, your grace?" He asked looking at the queen.
"I find myself, Ser Steffon, in an impossible position. I have lost princess Rhaenys and her dragon. I hold an island seat with no land army. And I must not go to battle myself.. as I am constantly told lest I am slain or captured and...with me our hopes of victory" Rhaenyra explained.
"There is still Daemon and caraxes...and the rivermen" Ser Steffon said.
"That remains to be seen" Rhaenyra said sharing a look with her two children who glanced down uncomfortably at the mention of their mothers absent husband.
"In any case, I must now proceed as if I stand alone. And I see now that to do that, I need more dragon riders, for vermithor and silverwing...and for seasmoke who I believe missed his bond" Rhaenyra said.
"What of the princess? Her dragon pearl is a beloved, very large. As large as vhagar" Ser Steffon asked.
"The princess, won't be riding anywhere" Jacaerys snapped staring at the man.
Elaena swallowed as all the heads in the room turned to her once more, thanks to her husband, who clearly regretted his actions as soon as he had done them.
"May I ask..why?" The man asked nervously, hoping the young prince wouldn't snap at him again.
There was a thick silence following the man's question, everyone in the room stared at each other, wondering who would speak.
"My daughter is in a delicate situation, ser" Rhaenyra said hoping the man would get the hint, and he did, regretting asking.
"But there are no more in your family to ride the dragons, your grace" Ser Steffon said.
"There is princess Rhaena" the man added after thinking for a moment.
"She had attempted it, alas, but the dragons here will not take her as a rider" Corlys, the new hand spoke.
Elaena frowned at his words. Although she did of course not want her cousin to get harmed trying again, she felt bad for her. She was treated differently because she had no dragon, it was mean, and she knew it bothered Rhaena.
"Then who could do it?" The man asked confused.
"You" Rhaenyra said, standing up as the man laughed, before staring shocked at her words.
"You are of noble birth. And I have always heard, as you know, that the Darklyns and the Targaryens had some common blood. I looked into the history and indeed, it is true. Your grandmother's grandmother, Aeriana was born a Targaryen princess. And I have been thinking, could it be possible?" Rhaenyra said holding a piece of paper.
"To even consider such a thing" Ser Steffon said making Rhaenyras face drop.
"I must protest, your grace" a man said.
"Oh do be quiet" Elaena said rolling her eyes.
Everyone looked at her sudden outburst as she held her head in her hands, leaning onto the table.
"It's the baby" Jacaerys said with a slight smile of pure embarrassment.
"Indeed, apologies" Elena muttered, staring down, realising she was very blunt.
"I am but a man. The dragons are gods. Your grace honours me beyond what I deserve" The man said, him and Rhaenyra walking to each other as he bowed onto one knee.
"You understand your peril, Ser Steffon. I don't compel you to do this. It has never been attempted before. To claim a dragon you must also be prepared to die" Rhaenyra explained.
"I well understand the risk and I accept it with gladness. I swore to ward my queen with all the strength, and give my blood for hers. This is my oath your grace" the man smiled as he bowed.
"Then perhaps the gods will favour us" She replied.

Later that day, Elaena stood with her mother and husband, watching as Ser Steffon stood in the dragonpit. The dragon keepers sung a song to summon a dragon.
Elaena leaned against her husband, who wrapped his arm around her waist "Are you sure you don't want to rest?" He asked.
"I'm sure" she smiled tiredly. In all honesty she did, but she didn't want to miss this.
As seasmoke eventually crept up the huge steps, they all stared anxiously to see if the dragon would allow the knight to claim him.
"Seasmoke" the man said nervously.
The three watched in worry and anticipation as he continued to guide the dragon with his voice. Telling him to be calm and obey.
After a minute seasmoke crouched, showing his saddle, making them smile. That was a very good smile.
However in a split second the dragon became annoyed, and stood up angrily. The keepers tried telling the dragon to calm, but it was no use.
Elaena gripped her husbands arm as the dragon rose, all the keepers yelling and running away. Seasmoke lit the lit the knight on fire, for a moment Elaena stared, then she gagged, the horrible nauseous feeling returning as she saw the horrid sight.
Jacaerys took her in his arms, shielding her face from the scene, and he quickly walked away with her in his arms. Looking down at her worriedly, sparring the dragonpit not one glance as he brought her back inside.
What a let down. What would they do now?
