"I'm home!"

Madison arrived home. She closed the door and took off her shoes. "Madi, could you please come here?" she heard her mom call her from the kitchen.

When she walked into the living room, since their living room and kitchen were connected, her little sister Riley was playing with her dolls on the floor while the TV played.

Madi smiled at the small girl and ruffled her hair. Riley looked up at her and smiled back.

"In here." her mom snapped her fingers, making Madison snap out of her trance and look over her shoulder.

"Why did you call me?" Madison asked, walking into the kitchen.

Her mom was pouring the vegetables into the soup. "Where were you? You're late. Once again.". A sigh escaped Madison's lips as she leaned against the counter. "I was in detention."

"Again? What did you do?" her mom continued making the dinner. "I bumped into Brenigan and I might have yelled at him." explained Madi as she crossed her arms.

"What?"

"I thought it was a student!" Madison argued, throwing her hands up. She knew her mom will make a big deal out of this. Nothing happened, she just bumped into the principal and got detention. And it was great.

Mrs. Price stopped cooking and looked at her daughter. "So you're gonna yell at a student too? That's what we do now?"

The girl opened her mouth to say something, but was quick to shut it when she realized she had nothing to say. So she grabbed her bag and walked away.

"Do not walk away from me Madison!"

"I don't want to fight. Not in front of Riley. And I'm alive and fine, it was just detention." Madison shot back from the stairs.

Her mother didn't know what to say anymore. She huffed and let her rest while she finished dinner. She guessed it was for the best

Madison ran into the girls changing room since she forgot her drink there and she was exhausted from exercises they were doing.

She opened her locker and grabbed her bottle, when her phone buzzed.
Madi reached her hand for the phone and grabbed it. The girl got a text.

Fluke or destiny? We need to talk -Stella

Madison smiled at her phone's screen before putting her phone back into the locker. This time she didn't forget to take her bottle out with her.

The group of six were sitting at a table at Dante's. After all of them got the text from Stella, they decided to meet up at the place.

As Mo started talking, the pizza had arrived. "We talked about this. It's not gonna happen." she sighed. "Sure it is." started Stella. Everyone took a slice of pizza and started eating.

"I signed us up for Rising Star this morning."

Madison started choking on her pizza. Charlie quickly patted her back as Olivia rubbed it. When Madi calmed down she mouthed a thanks to both. Madi turned to Stella with a confused face.

"I'm sorry, what?" she asked, her eyes wide. Charlie nodded. "Yeah. We're not experienced enough."

Stella took a bite from her pizza as she looked at everyone. "Which is why I also signed us up for the Halloween Bash."

Now it was Mo, who almost spit out her drink. Did Stella really do that? Madi didn't know if she should be happy or scared. Maybe both?

"What? How did you pull that off?" Wen asked the girl. "It's amazing what a principal will agree to if he thinks his 'new problem student' is channeling her energy into something productive." Stella said proudly with a smile.

Madison sent her a smile. She was impressed by her skills honestly. And she was glad she wasn't the only trouble student here.

Mo turned to look at Stella. "Stella. Goofing around in detention does not make us a band." Stella furrowed her brows. "So we'll practice."

Olivia and Madison just continued to eat, acting like they weren't even there. Madi really didn'y know what to do. She wanted to be in a band so bad, but if her mom found out, she'd be dead.

"You have real drums right?" the brown asked Charlie, to which the boy answered. "Yeah?" It came out more of like a question.

Stella leaned closer to the girls. "See. I didn't even know that." she whispered. Well, tried.

But it was enough to make them laugh. "Okay. So what are we gonna play?" asked Olivia. Wen looked up at her. "You could write our songs." he said with his mouth full.

"Me?"

"Yeah."

"Why not Madison?" Olivia groaned, looking at Mads. Before she could disagree, Wen beat her to it. "You write songs too?"

Madison let out a sigh. There was no going back now. "Yup."

"Great. We got two song writers. I mean the one you guys did the other day was pretty amazing."

Olivia shook her head. "That was nothing." she said as she bought the cup up to her mouth. The blonde would do anything to get out of this situation.

The more she thought about it, the more anxious she got. "I- I think I'm gonna be sick." Olivia told the group, putting her drink and pizza back down.

"Wait. We can't play the Bash. Mudslide Crush is playing." Mo informed. Stella leaned closer to the table. "And we are opening for them."

Stella and Wen shared a high five. They were really into this. Madi was too, but all her mind was reminding the girl was,

'what is mom gonna think?' 'she's gonna hate you even more.'

"I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I don't wanna be a random face in the yearbook. Or a kid people vaguely recall passing in the halls. I wanna be heard."

That's when the two most popular girls in school came in. When Mo saw them, a smile appeared on her face. She wasn't gonna be rude so she waved.

The girls looked at each other and started laughing as they walked away. Mo's smile quickly faded.

"Wen and I are in. Who's with us?" asked Stella with hope in her eyes. She really wanted everyone to agree and to have a band. "I'll give it a shot."

"Really?"

"But only if everyone elss agrees. Just one practice. If it works, great. If not, I'm out." Mo said. Stella and Wen couldn't help the smile that showed on their faces.

Madison thought about it for a second. This wasn't an everyday thing. This was her opportunity to follow her dream. To start a new life. With friends.

Why let the only person that's stopping her get in the way?

"I'm in too." smirked Madison. "For real?"

"Hell yeah."

The band was coming together. Wen, Stella, Madi and Mo high fived as they laughed.

Olivia's slurping caught their attention. She was really trying. But she had so much talent. And she was wasting it. Her voice and writing is just straight up chef's kiss.

"Come on. Say you'll try. Please."

"It'll be fun." Stella tried convincing the blonde. "So much fun." "Pretty, pretty please. Sugar on top."

"Even with a cherry." Madison finished.

"Oh, okay, okay. I'll do it."

The group cheered. They did it! Stella threw her head back and put her arms in the air. "Yes! Yes!"

Now it was Charlie's turn. Everyone looked at him as he looked around, thinking. "You know what?" he pulled out a coin. "Heads, we do it. Tails, we don't."

They all agreed. Charlie flipped the coin, and in that moment, everything turned into slow motion. It was now or never.

When the coin landed, all of them got up and huddled around the coin, their heads touching.

One of the misconceptions about Lemonade Mouth is that we were a natural fit from the start.

Madison smiled wide when she what the coin had landed on.

Totally not true.

It was heads.
