TW~Asthma attack and swearing.
Y/N'S POV
Today, me, Colby, Sam and lots of other people are running a marathon for cancer awareness and prevention.
Me and Sam helped Colby a lot when he had cancer and it was very scary for Sam and myself. After lots of restless nights and constant help, Colby was declared cancer free, and I was so happy.
Colby didn't want me running the marathon today, due to the fact that I have bad asthma.
"Colbs, please. I wanna run with you and Sam! It's such a big achievement for you, and me and Sam helped." I plead, as he gets out of bed, putting shorts and the yellow XLPR vest on.
"I don't want you having an asthma attack baby girl, you get bad ones. I'm so grateful for your help, Sam's too, but I want you here." He replies, kissing my forehead, heading downstairs with his phone and camera.
"Colby! Please! I literally have 3 inhalers on me right now." I state, already wearing a sports top and running shorts.
"Y/N, no. I'm too worried about your health." He says, making himself a morning coffee, as he waits for Sam to pick him up.
"Colby! I was worried for your health! I was so fucking scared, everyday! I thought I was gonna lose you!" I shout, tears spilling from my eyes as the floodgates open.
Colby instantly takes notice of my crying, putting his coffee down, and walking over to me.
"I'm sorry. Shh...I'm gonna be okay. I'll let you participate, but you better tell me when you need a break or when you think you're having an asthma attack, okay?" He asks wiping my tears, and I nod, as he kisses my forehead.
"I will...thank you Colbs." I say, staying in his comforting embrace.
A car door shuts outside, and then the doorbell rings, meaning that Sam has arrived.
Colby leaves the kitchen and opens the door, welcoming Sam in and telling him that I would be joining the marathon.
"Y/N, are you sure you want to? I mean don't get me wrong, I get why you want to, but your asthma attacks get bad." My brother says, trying to coax me not to do the marathon.
"Sam, we both helped Colby. Everyday we both thought we would either get him back or lose him. I'm running this marathon for him. An asthma attack is nothing compared to what Colby went through." I state, packing my bag with my 3 inhalers, spacer, water bottles, camera and portable charger.
"Me and Colby are gonna be glued to your side you know that right?" He asks, and I nod, knowing I'd be asked if I'm alright during the whole marathon by the two boys.
"Okay, let's go then." Colby says, grabbing both of our bags and putting them in the boot of Sam's car.
Sam and Colby take the front seats, leaving me in the back seat, but I sneak the aux cable back to me.
I start playing Hug by Love For Hire, and Sam and Colby immediately start groaning as I sing along. Colby starts singing his verse to me, and even though it's cringey as hell, we all burst out laughing.
We arrive at the start line of the marathon, and we grab our bags. There are other YouTubers and people there, setting up their cameras and grabbing water bottles from a nearby stand.
Everyone cheers when us 3 arrive, since the marathon is for Colby. He thanks them all, going around and seeking into their video intros.
"Right guys! Is everyone ready?" Colby shouts, and everyone cheers, doing some final stretches.
"Okay, let's go!" He says, and then we all begin the marathon.
It's a pretty hot day today, so everyone is going through lots and lots of water bottles, taking breaks to keep cool and turning on their mini electric fans.
We been running for about 6 miles now and it's really hot. I stick with Sam and Colby since they keep asking me if I'm okay, which I am, but I'm just dying from the heat, which I'm sure everyone else is.
We run another 4 miles, and that's when I start to feel some tightness in my throat and a lack of oxygen, but I know that a lot of people are suffering from the heat, and I don't need the attention on me.
As we get to the 10 mile mark, I feel a lot worse, breaths coming in as shorts gasps, like a cry for help, and thankfully Colby notices.
"Y/N, you should've told me, here come on, stop running take a minute." He brings me over to the side as Sam calls a break for everyone, as there is a water tent that was set up for today.
Colby puts his hand in his back pocket, retrieving my inhaler and handing it to me.
"Sam, can you get her some water please?" Colby asks, and he nods, grabbing a cold water bottle for me.
My breaths are ragged, throat tight as the air flow becomes restricted. My shaking hands lead the inhaler to my mouth, but my hands are too weak and shaky to push the button on the top.
"Here, let me do it baby girl, just keep focusing on breathing." Colby says, putting his hand on the inhaler, pushing the button, giving me instant relief, feeling my throat expanding again.
After a few more puffs, I feel a lot better, taking some deep breaths as Sam rybs my back and Colby keeps his hand on the inhaler.
Sam hands me the watter bottle, and I thank him, taking home sips, getting a lot cooler.
"How are you feeling now?" Sam asks, and I put the bottle down beside me. "A lot better, I'm really sorry I should've told you like I promised, but everyone was suffering from heat." I state, a bit guilty for breaking your promise to Colby.
"Your health is important. You can't go neglecting it just because you didn't want extra attention. This was a pretty bad asthma attack baby girl, I really think you should sit it out now, I'm so proud of you for coming so far." Colby says, kissing my forehead.
"I know, but I'm still continuing, I've come this far, I can't back out now. I'll tell you straight away if I feel bad again." Sam and Colby share a concerned glance.
"Fine, but you better tell us alright?" Sam says, and I nod, as we all get up to run the rest of the marathon.
We begin running again, and I feel a lot better than I did twenty minutes ago, feeling the oxygen flow into my body.
It takes around another two to three hours before we make it over the finish line, lots of people laying or sitting on the floor in exhaustion, as me, Sam and Colby hug, reflecting the difficult battle of Colby's cancer.
Sam goes to check on the other people who ran with us, passing out water bottles and whatnot.
Colby takes my head into my hands, eyes glossy with tears, as he leans down to kiss me.
I kiss him back, shedding my own tears with my arms wrapping around his neck.
"I love you so much Y/N." Colby whispers, pulling me into his embrace, swaying a bit.
"I love you too Colby." I reply, resting my head on his chest, enjoying the peaceful moment.
Suddenly, me and Colby feel water being dumped over us, as we shout and yell out of surprise.
We wipe our eyes from water, our clothes soaked through, hair wet, as we turn around, seeing Sam holding a big bucket which is now empty.
"Sam! What the hell! Come here!" I shout running after him, then jumping on his back, hugging him.
"Ew! Y/N you're getting me wet!" He yells, laughing. "It's karma dear brother." I say, laughing too as Colby records the whole thing.
I smile at Colby, thankful that he overcame his cancer and has come back stronger than ever. I'm lucky I get to call that man my boyfriend.
