Chapter 3
Words: 1952
You stared at the broken down building, your jaw laying almost on the floor.
"You call this...character?" Yuu asked with a weird look. You nodded along with what he said. "I really hope you're not serious about letting us stay here..." You butted in.
He ignored your words and pushed both of you towards the half broken door. "Isn't it delightful? Right, scoot inside now. There you go."
Crowley continued pushing you until you were in the lounge of the old house and the looked around with a proud expression. "This should keep the elements at bay for the time being. Now, I should return to my research. Do try to find some way to busy yourself."
You slowly turned towards him after inspecting the lounge. "You're actually gonna leave us here?"
You were ignored. Again.
"But don't let me catch you galloping around campus! Ta ta!" He then ran out as fast as he could, before you could grab onto the collar of his shirt.
"It's like a desolate snowscape, only with dust." Yuu said with a dissapointed frown.
You nodded before clasping your hands together. "Well buckle up! Were going to clean this god awful mess."
A big drop of water fell onto your head, making your ears fall flat against your head. Then more drops of water started plunging down from through the ceiling.
"Is it raining?" "Seems so." You covered your ears with your hands as a slight scowl appeared on your face. God you hated the rain. You were looking for a dry spot to stand when you heard the front door open.
"GWAH! It's pouring out there!"
"Wah!" Yuu yelled out having not heard the door opening.
"Bwahaha! That look on your face is gold! Like a bat that got blasted by a water gun." The small creature yelled out while laughing.
You both stared at him in shock as to why he was on the schools campus again. As if he could read your minds he started yapping again.
"As if I wouldn't just sneak back onto campus the second I escaped pryin' eyes. You all got no idea what the great Grim is truly capable of! I ain't givin' up on goin' here just 'cause I got kicked out one measly ol' time. And if you think otherwise, you don't know Grim!"
"Why do you even want to go to this school so bad?" Yuu asked as if he enjoyed the cats constant yapping, and the things godcomlex.
"Isn't it obvious?" Actually no it wasn't but whatever floated his boat. "I was born to do this! I'm a magical prodigy who's got the makin's to become one of the greatest mages who ever lived!"
"You're literally some sort of mix of a cat and a weasel, I don't think you're gonna become a great mage as you say..." You said from the one dry corner of the room.
"You- MYAH! It's you again, the creepy lady that can't use magic but somehow can!" The cat jumped up into Yuu's arms and held onto the poor boy for protection.
You both looked at the cat weirdly, making him realize he jumped into magicless human's arms. He let go of Yuu's neck and cleared his throat. "Anyways... So I've been waitin' and waitin' for that black carriage to come for me."
He looked down with a sad expression on his face. (You were not amused.) "And yet... Grmph! That stupid Dark Mirror's got no eye for talent! That's why I took it upon myself and came here on my own! You humans don't understand what a mistake you're makin'! Not lettin' me in is a great loss to the entire world!"
"Not really sure about that." You muttered to Yuu who nodded along. "Can he do anything beside spew fire...?"
"Mrrao! Scoot over, scoot over! I'm gettin' dripped on here!" He walked towards you both, looking for a dry spot to stand. "Bwah! Another hole in the roof! These flamin' hot ears are like my trademark y'know? I can't let them go out!"
He ran over and grabbed the hem of your robes. He pulled the coat over his ears to prevent them from getting wet. You stared at him with a confused expression. Wasn't he scared of you a moment ago?
"Better go look for some buckets I guess. Y/n?" "Yeah, I'll join you, don't worry."
"I don't know why you both don't just magic the holes away, it could've been done in a jiff! Oh wait-" You stepped away from the cocky animal making water drip on his head again.
"Myah! Sorry! Sorry! I'm getting wet over here you know!" He ran after the both of you while you walked out of the lounge to find some buckets.
"Why don't you do it then, oh great Grim" Yuu mocked to which the cat responded with a huff. "Ha! You got the wrong idea. I'm just a stranger takin' shelter from the rain. You ain't the boss of me."
"If you're just a stranger we might aswell kick you out. I don't want strangers in my house." You said coldly while glaring down at him.
"About those buckets..." Yuu quickly ran after you, leaving the cat behind in the lounge.

Your ear twitched softly when you heard a small noise from behind you "I think I just heard something?!" Yuu whisper-shouted as he spun around.
You turned around aswell, and were faced with 3 ghoths. On the left a short one, in the middle a chubby one, and on the right a slim one. Your eyes widended in surprise, but you didn't yell, unlike Yuu who screamed almost at the top of his lungs.
"Yee hee hee! Hahahahaaa!" "We haven't had visitors in ages!" "Oh I'm just itching for new friends!" The ghosts continued to laugh, while you quickly regained your cool. You pulled the still in-shock Yuu behind you and glared at the ghosts.
"Gh-gh-ghosts! Y/n, there are actual ghosts!" "Keep it down, what's with all the como-AHHHH! GHOSTS! GHOOOOOSTS!" Grim appeared from the lounge and quickly latched onto your leg. You sighed in annoyance, but didn't kick the small cat off of you.
"All the people who used ta live here got scared of us and ran away." Ghost B, the short one started. "We just want a new ghost to play with! What do you say, buddy?
"Y/n! They're gonna kill me!" Yuu aggressively shook your shoulders from behing you, and Grim was shivering against your leg like crazy. "Eeeeeep! I'm a master sorcerer! I ain't afraid of some stupid dumb ghosts! Myaaahh!"
Grim started throwing flames everywhere and you just stared at the dumb cat. "Grim stop, you're not even hitting them."
And just like you said, ghost A, the slim one, started laughing. "Nuh-uh. Not even close." "Over here! Over here! Ah hahaha!" Ghost C started teasing.
"Argh! They keep disappearing and reappearing!" The weasel yelled out in frustration, to which Yuu yelled even louder. "You can't aim with your eyes closed you weasel!"
"Shaddup! I don't need any lip from you, human!"
"Beat them, and I've got a can of tuna with your name on it!"
"Myah? Hmph.... I'm Grim, Master Sorcerer! How come I can't even hit one of these little-"
He was interrupted by a loud bang. Both Yuu and Grim turned towards where the noise came from. You were standing there, your spear that was bathed in purple light in your hand.
"Waaah! She hit us! She hit us!" Ghost B started screaming as he hid behind Yuu. The other two ghosts did the same.
Yuu took advantage of this situation and dove out of the way. "Grim, behind you!"
The cat spun around quickly and sent fire in the direction the boy told him too
"Aaahhh! It burns!" Ghost A screamed out. "Ha, got one! Keep it up, just like that... And let's clear out the whole lot of 'em!"
Grim continued casting his fire, while you attacked the ghosts with your electro powers. The fire with the electro luckily had a huge impact on them.

"Myaaah!" Grim screamed out for the douzenth time when trying to hit one of the ghoths, efectively hitting them square in the face.
"Hwaaaahhh! We gotta get out of here! Before we get disappeared for good!" The ghosts quickly made their way out, all while screaming annoyingly.
"H-huh? Did we...win?" Grim finally opened his eyes and looked around. "Thanks for your help." Yuu gave Grim a small highfive, and then gave you one aswell.
"Nice work Yuu, you to I guess." You said to Grim who looked at the verge of crying. "Aw, geez, I was scared outta my- I mean, they didn't faze me one bit!" The tears immediately disappeared from the corners of his eyes.
"Just a walk in the park for a mage of my caliber! Whaddaya got to say now, ghosties? That's right! Nothing!"
You turned around towards the door, hearing as it slammed open.
"Good evening. In another gesture of my immense kindness, I have brought you dinner." Crowley said as he walked in proudly. He was holding a small crate with food which he immediately placed on the ground.
"Wait. That's the creature we ejected for causing trouble at orientation! What is it doing here?!" He walked over and rudely loomed over Grim staring down at him.
"Takin'care of yer ghost problem, that's what! You're welcome, by the way!" Grim cockily crossed his arms and raised his nose into the air.
"What is the meaning of this, Yuu, Y/n?"
Yuu quickly explained about the ghosts that attacked, and how Grim helped defeat them.
Crowley hummed along, before he seemed to think of something. "You know, on that topic, I do seem to recall that this dorm had a mischievous ghost problem. In fact I think that was the reason it was abandoned in the first place. The ghosts scared all the students away."
"And you didn't think of telling us that before? What kind of 'model educator' are you really?" You gave him a look that made him clear his throat awkwardly.
"Ah-haa, yes well anyway. You're saying that you three joined forces to drive them away?"
Grim butted in before either of you could answer the headmage. ""Joined forces" ain't exactly how I'd describe it. More like I drove 'em away, and the humans watched. And I only did it 'cause I wanted some tuna."
His smiling stopped and he turned to Yuu with an angry expression. "Wait a minute! I never got those cans of tuna ya promised!"
"And he swears he's not a cat..." Yuu muttered in your ear. You chuckled, but nodded at his comment.
"Would you all be so kind as to demonstrate your ghost-eradication methods for me?"
"One, no, 'cause I already wiped 'em all out. And two, no, 'cause where's my tuna?!" Grim yelled agressively while you just nodded to the headmage.
"Sure, but how do you want us to do that if there's no ghost?" You asked while slapping a hand over the loud cat's mouth to shut him up.
"I will play the part of the ghost. As for the tuna, you'll receive it when you defeat me. Oh, what generosity, Crowley." He started talking to himself, and you had the sudden urge to launch the creature in your hands at the man.
"Now, to chug this transmutation potion!" He drank some kind of weird looking drink and suddenly the headmage's body formed to that of a ghost.
"Ah, you gotta be kiddin'me. I gotta work together with the human again?" Grim muttured after you finally took your hand off of his mouth.
Yuu, as the not so smart boy he is, instead started feeding the weasel's ego. "Do it for the tuna, Master Sorcerer!" he encouraged Grim excitedly.
"Hrmph. All right, but this is the last time. And I better be up to my jowls in tuna afterwards!"
"Yes yes Grim, you'll get your tuna." You summoned your polearm, and immediately the purple light from earlier covered the room again. "Let's just get this over with."
