"Jealousy, Jealousy"

"Woah woah woah, so you're here to tell me, that Luis came to YOUR place on a Sunday night, and slept there?" Julie gasping as I explained the whole story about last night.

I quickly shushed her, not wanting to have more people stare at us as is. She quickly calmed down as I started focusing on my class work. Julie and Connie were the only girls that I can talk to about- well about boys, but since the situation happened with Luis and Connie, Julie is my only option to talk to about this.

"It wasn't that big of a deal, but I would say it was a bit strange for him to just sneak in my house"

Julie's smile then turns to a frown as she sadly whispers "What about Connie?"

"I haven't seen her, I don't wanna pick sides between the two of them" I sighed "So I'm trying my best to be there for them you know?"

Julie nods as she continues her class work. We sit in silence, hearing nothing but other students chattering and giggling. That was until she finally blurted out what she wanted to say.

"I think he likes you Nai" Julie quietly said

"Pff come on Julie!" I laugh nervously as I glanced over her, shaking my head in disapproval "He wouldn't- we're friends. We have been nothing but friends since we were born"

"So you're here to tell me right now, that Luis Mendoza does not have a crush on you?" She inquired as she raised an eyebrow

I stared at my work as I wonder off in my mind "Y-Yeah, I'm sure"

"Let's change the conversation because this is too much" She requested "So about Cooper eh? Did it go as you planned?"

"Well.... sorta..."

"I'm not gonna sit in the same room with her!"

"Oh come on! I said I was sorry like- twenty times! Twenty one of you count this one!" I groaned

"At least let us have a meal together, then we can leave" Travis suggested

Cooper huffed "Fine, but I'm sitting next to you"

"And I would gladly sit next to my mother" I spat

"Whatever bitch!"

"Cooper!" Travis muttered

"Says the one that got fucked up, pinche cabrón! (fucking bastard)"

"Nairobi!" Mom pulled my hair "Sorry Travis"

"No no! It's my fault Melanie!"

"I-It was... fine" I hesitated "At least I was able to get along with his dad. Maybe I shouldn't have been a- I don't know- asshole?" I spoke up

"After seeing his face, I'd say he deserves it"

The bell rings and I followed behind her to the lunchroom. I wasn't very hungry, considering the food here wasn't my favorite thing in the world, but it's the only place where we all hang out.

But I don't think that would happen after yesterday.

"Hey boys, have you seen Connie anywhere?" Julie asked, but they all shook their heads

"Did something happen?" Goldberg curiously asked

"No no! I just needed her for something, you wouldn't understand" She answered as she grabbed an apple

I skimmed around the lunchroom looking for Dean, but there was no sight of him.

"He's not here if you're wondering" Fulton conformed "He's sick, so he'll probably come on Wednesday"

"How did you-"

"Lucky guess" He shrugged

Luis waved at me as he sat beside me, Julie on the other side. She gently nudges me and raises her eyebrows. I shook my head and grabbed my fruit.

"Did you bring the money Nai?" Charlie asked

I nodded "I heard you and Brian were able to get the extra cash?"

"Yeah, Bombay is gonna be pretty surprised we were able to get it wayyyy before the due date"

As classes passed by, my mind kept getting more and more distracted. Luis didn't say much either. Then again, I can't blame him, he got his heart broken by his first girlfriend.

"Hey Luis, I'm gonna go give Dean some soup after practice. You wanna come?" I broke the silence

He cracks a smile "Sure, I don't want to be home to be honest"

"Alright guys that's a wrap! Make sure to tell your parents about the great news!" Coach Bombay announced

I followed Julie to the locker as Connie strolled from behind us. Neither Luis nor her haven't said a single word to each other. Everyone already suspects that they broke up, even Coach Bombay, but they haven't spoke up about it.

Julie started a conversation, but I wasn't too intrigued. As I payed more attention to Connie's movements. She seemed more clumsy, and would stumble a few times which had me worried.

As Connie dropped her helmet, she didn't say a word, she just stared blankly at it.

"Hey Con, you alright?" Julie spoke up

No answer.

"Connie, how's about you take a day off and-"

Before I can finish my sentence, she stares straight at me, not changing her emotion. I felt a shiver go down my spine as my hairs went up. It was like she was possessed and I was gonna be next.

"You really care about your best friend huh Nai?" She breathed as she looks away

"I-I guess so...." I shrugged nervously "But I also care about you, you're my friend as well Connie"

"You shouldn't be worrying about someone you barley know Nairobi Cortes"

I stared at her in confusion. Julie's eyebrows raise as her eyes went wide. She clears her throat as she grabbed her bag and stick "I think I should go, I'll see you guys tomorrow yeah?"

As we heard the door shut, Connie took a seat in the little bench, her head hung low. I hesitantly walk over to her as I took a seat next to her, giving enough space between us.

"I'm sorry about what happened Connie" I started "I'm not really sure what you're going through, but I will be there for you. I promise that"

She sniffles quietly "I'm just so jealous of you Nairobi"

My head shot up at her as she stared away from me "Ever since you came to everyone's lives, they all seemed to love you, especially Luis" she continued "I'm so jealous of the way you and Luis have jokes, the way you're there for each other, and the memories you have"

I slowly closed my mouth, as I was in a bit of shock. I mean, I'm nothing special, but I always felt like that. She was able to noticed that from myself, the one who doesn't even care how I am.

"You don't have to be jealous of me Connie, I have my insecurities too" I cleared my throat

"Oh yeah? Like what?" She sniveled as she finally looked at me

"You're more intelligent than me!" I confirmed as I stood up "And you're funnier than me, more talented, and- and even prettier! Hell, the amount I told Julie 'You know, I would die to have Connie's looks' is over ten times a week!"

I watched as she finally smiled, making me feel relieved.

"Breakups are hard, but that doesn't mean it's a must to avoid Luis in school and practice. He may not be your boyfriend, but maybe a friend?" I suggested

She wipes her tears gently "You are something else Nai, I don't know how someone could ever hate you"

"Welllllll-" I smiled "You'll be surprised"

She playfully hits my arm as we let out a laugh. Thank God she's back to the way she is. Now the only goal is to help Luis.

We walked out the stadium and I waved goodbye "Remember what I told you okay?"

She nods as she smiles back "I'll talk to him tomorrow"

"What was that all about?" Luis asked as he followed me

"Just needed someone to rant to. She'll open up to you soon" I answered as I continued walking

We entered a small diner that I heard made great soups and delicious hot chocolate. The sweet scent made my mouth parched, but I was more invested in getting Dean some soup.

"What'll it be little lady?" An elderly lady asked with a smile

"I would like one of your popular soups you have. To go please" I smiled back

I quickly paid as Luis sat in one of the chairs, staring at a couple giggling and talking. It made him look even more depressed.

"I bet Einstein turned himself all sorts of colors before he invented the light bulb" I blurted

"What?" He looks back at me confused

"Homer Simpson said that quote"

"Well Homer Simpson is an idiot" he rolled his eyes

"But you know who else is an idiot?" I smirked "Us"

He let out a low chuckle "I hate you for that"

"You love me don't lie to yourself" I laughed "I just wanted to cheer you up"

"Sorry I'm such a bummer Nai" he apologizes

"No no! You are in a tough spot right now. It's understandable"

"It's just weird you know? This is my first breakup"

I nodded "Love is just- weird. You can never know when or who you fall in love with. It just happens"

The elderly lady handed me a container of soup as I thanked her. I followed Luis out the door and towards the next stop.

"Have you and Portman ever argued?" He asks randomly

I thought about it "Like about our relationship or?"

He nods as I think about it more "I don't think so... but if we ever do I don't think it'll be something about our relationship"

Luis cocks an eyebrow "So what would it be about?"

I hummed "Probably about who ate the last ice cream sandwich..."

We both started laughing. Well my mission on making Connie and Luis laugh was a complete success.

It has been a while since I went to Dean's house. The last time I went was for a DVD he wanted to give me when I got myself a DVD player. It was a bit sketchy, but I felt safe since he was with me. Now now, I still feel safe since Luis is here with me, but Luis doesn't know about this place as much as Dean.

I reached his apartment room and knocked on the door. Luis looking down the hallways to make sure no one tries anything on us.

"Doors open!" I heard him call out from the other side of the door

I opened the door as he was laying on the couch shivering and coughing. If I was a huge dick, I would've told him he looked like shit.

"Hey babe, sup Luis" he groggily said "What are you guys doin' here?"

"I just thought to give you some soup because Fulton said you were sick" I responded as I put the container of soup on the table

"Since when is my girlfriend a nice nurse?"

"Let me think.... Since now" I smiled

"How are you feeling Portman?" Luis asked

Dean let's out another harsh cough "Not too good. Luckily it's just a flu"

"Hope you get better soon man, we are gonna need you to kick those guys' ass" Luis noted

Dean chuckles "Of course, we ain't lettin' these assholes pass by us easily"

We heard an aggressive knock, as if they want to break the door open. It made me jump a little, surprisingly it didn't for Dean. Maybe since he lived here for so long he doesn't mind it.

"Doors open!" He calls out

"Dean it better not be some crazy manic trying to kill us" I thought as the door opened

A middle aged man entered as he held a cigarette on one hand and a lighter with another. His hair was just as dark as his eyes. I felt the bad vibes from him.

I cleared my throat "A-Anyways! Luis and I better get going, hope you get better soon Dean" I smiled at him

"Y-Yeah! Get well soon man! See ya!" Luis waved as we rushed out the door.

I quickly went around him as I felt his eyes on Luis and I until we went down the steps of the apartment building.

"Was I the only one that found that guy creepy?" Luis gulped

"You and me both. Remind me to not get that guy mad" I cautioned

Luis quickly nods "Remind me as well!"
