"Apocalypse"

LUIS'S POV

"Holy fucking shit- so you're telling me Cooper could possibly be your step sibling someday?" I asked shockingly

"Yeah, it's a little weird, but I want my mom to be happy... she deserves it" you can hear her let out a sigh of frustration

"Well if he tries anything stupid, I'll beat his ass" I joked

I heard her giggle softly on the other side of the phone "Not until I give him a few punches first"

"Deal. Anyways, you free today? Thought we can hang out since it's a Sunday" I wondered

"Aren't we supposed to be getting fifty bucks for the admission?"

"I talked to Brian and Charlie earlier, Brian said he would be able to get twenty bucks from his parents and Charlie will get the rest from his stash he has" I explained

"Oh, that's great! I wish I can hang out Luis, but today I'm going out to eat with Cooper and his dad with my mom. I got to at least be nice to them you know?"

"Well that fucking sucks"

"Should've told me earlier!" She giggles

My mouth curled into a smile as I heard her giggle. It sounds adorable. Makes my heart ache and my stomach have butterflies.

"Hello? Earth to Luis Mendoza you there?" She broke my thought

"O-Oh yeah! Sorry, just thought of food just now" I lied "I'll see you tomorrow like usual"

"Alright, well I gotta get ready. See you Luis"

"See you" I replied back as she hang up the phone

I rested my ear on the telephone as I heard it beep repeatedly. I know I shouldn't think this way since I have a girlfriend, but Nai is something else. One comedian, and one sweetheart.

"Luis! Connie is here to talk to you!" I heard my mom shout from downstairs

"Connie?" I thought as I went downstairs

I wasn't sure why she was here. Matter of fact she rarely comes here since it's always me meeting her at a place or at her house.

"Sorry for coming at this time" She said nervously

"Nonsense! I'm sure it's important" Mom added "I'll be in the kitchen"

We didn't say a word as my mom walked away from us. I slightly opened my mouth, wanting to say something until she finally spoke.

"Can we talk outside?" She asks

"Uh, sure" I nodded

She sat on the porch as I shut the door behind me. She stared blankly at the distance as I sat a few feet away from her, giving her some space between us.

"So, is there something you wanna talk about?" I cleared my throat

She continues to stare at the distance as her mouth slightly opens "Do you remember when you told me you liked me?"

My eyebrows went slightly up as she finally looks at me. I cleared my throat once more as I'm uncomfortable with the silence between us.

"Y-Yeah! I kinda made a fool of myself and said 'I like me' instead of 'I like you'. Kinda felt like an idiot at that moment" I chuckle

"I didn't think you liked me at first, but when we started dating, it felt.... nice. We had some good memories too" she added

"So is that what this is about? Just talking about how I told you I liked you?" I asked

She bites her lip as she quickly looked away. Now I know something is up. This isn't how she is around me at all.

"Connie, what is it? You can tell me" I asserted reaching for her, but her body shifts away from me

It took her a moment to speak to me. I then thought of the first thing she would say, but I want to hear it from her and only her.

"I think we should break up..." she mumbled

When she finally said it, I felt my body slightly tense up. My heart beating a bit faster than it was before and my mouth slightly opened in shock.

"B-Break up? Bu-But why? Did I do something wrong?" I stammered

She stands up as she looked up at the sky "You didn't do nothing wrong Luis"

"Then why? Why do you want to break up with me?" I asked again, eager to know

Her eyes didn't look away from the sky as I stood up, standing right behind her, waiting for her to answer my question.

"Connie, why? Please tell me" I repeated myself, trying to not make my voice weak

I watched tears went down her cheeks as she slowly turns around, not wanting to take a look at me. She quickly wipes them away.

"You're an amazing person Luis" She continues as she walks up to me, finally looking at me and placing a hand on the side of my face "But you're not mine"

"Whatever it was that I did I'll make it up to you!" I spoke up as I gently grabbed her hand from my face "I-I'll spend time with you more! We'll have more dates and-"

"Luis, please don't make this harder than it should be" She sniffled "It's over between us" She finally confirms as she moves her hand away from my face

My heart sunk down to my stomach. When I first saw her she was the only person I could think of day and night. She made me happy and I never felt so free with her my entire life. The person who I wanted to be with, finally doesn't want me anymore.

"Please Connie, don't do this" my voice mewled softly as my head hung low

"I'm sorry Luis. It's for the best. Goodbye" She cries softly as she walks away, leaving me there in my front yard alone

My body started to tremble. I wanted to cry, but why am I not? My heart hurts, my breathing is uneven, but why am I not shedding a single tear?

"Luis, dinner is ready- hey, are you alright?" My mom asks

"U-Uh yeah! I'm alright! I-I'm just gonna take a walk if that's ok?" I stammered, not turning around

"But the food will be cold" she adds

"I just need to take a walk" I repeated as I started walking

My head hung low as my feet were slightly dragging. I kept thinking about what Connie said. I wanted to just disappear for a while, maybe bury myself in a ditch, but I didn't have the guts to do so.

My walking started to speed up, and sooner I started to jog, then as my heart started to beat faster, I started running. I didn't know where, but I kept running and running.

My emotions were all over the place as I remembered all the memories with Connie. Seeing her laugh, her smile, everything about her.

That was until, I stopped.

I realized where I was. I stood in front of Nai's house, not saying a word. I wanted to knock on her door, but what if her mom were to ask anything that'll make what I feel worse.

"Fuck it, I'll climb up" I thought as I went to the side of her house

I threw a tiny rock at her window, not to hard for it to break the glass, just enough to get her attention- but there was no answer.

"Damn it! She probably already left" I thought as I grabbed my hair, a bit frustrated

I don't wanna go back home, mom probably thinks something is up. I grabbed a ladder from the back of her yard and put it below her window. I started to climb up, hoping that the window is at least unlocked.

I was right, it wasn't. She always had a lack of locking the windows in her room or anywhere. Even her mom tells her to lock them, but she just forgets.

I quietly climbed in, trying not to make as much noise as possible. Her room was really clean. That was another thing I always noticed, she never liked having a dirty room.

I almost jumped as I saw a tiny shadow in the hallway. Realizing it was Nai's cat wondering around the house. He comes in her room, staring at me in the dark.

"N-Nico is it? Take it easy..." I whispered as he slowly came up to me

He brushes his body on my leg as I sat down in the corner, petting his head as he let out a low purr.

"Wish I was a cat, you guys live a pretty nice life..." I mumbled

The emotions started coming back, but not a single tear went down. Maybe it's a guy thing that I haven't experienced yet. Then again, guys aren't robots that don't have emotions.

I waited.... and waited. I didn't do anything but stare in the dark, looking at Nai's photos, then at her bed blankly.

I wasn't sure what time it was, but must've been pretty late since I heard the front door open. Nico ran downstairs as I heard Nai compliment him.

"Alright mamá, I'm gonna head to bed. Goodnight!" She calls out as I heard her footsteps come upstairs.

I shouldn't hide since it probably would scare her even more, so I sat there, waiting for her. For some reason, she doesn't turn off the lights, she must be tired.

"Pst..... Nai" I whispered

She quickly grabs her hockey stick from out of nowhere and flicked the light on.

"Don't swing!" I whispered yelled as I lift my hands up in defense

"Nai! What happened?" I heard her mom call out from downstairs

"U-Uh, nothing mom! I just tripped that's all!" She answered as she put her stick down and closes the door "Jesus Christ Luis, you fucking scared me" she huffs

"I-I'm sorry..." I apologized as I stood there

"Does your mom know you're here?" She asked

I blocked out all the questions Nai was asking me, as the emotions came crawling back like a bug. I felt my body become numb, I didn't hold back the pain. I silently broke down crying as I walked up to her and hugged her tightly.

"L-Luis!"

"Please just- let me hug you...."

I felt warmth as she wraps her hands around me without saying another word. She smelled like strawberries. Fresh, but sweet. It made me feel comfortable, and safe.

"Whatever it was Luis, I'm here for you" her voice soothing to my ears

"I know Nai"

She gently wipes my tears as I chuckle "What are you my mom?"

"Don't make me whoop you" she jokes as she lets out a giggle "You want me to call your mom and tell her you're staying with me?"

"She'll probably tell your mom..." I said nervously

"Just so you know, we have a little bond in which we don't tell my mom a lot of things, this being one of them. So I'll be calling her and tell her it's a secret away from my mom. Simple"

"Alright.... Thanks..."

She grabbed her house phone and started dialing mom's number "You know I still have your clothes from when you slept over. I washed it and put it in my closet, you can change real quick"

"Now I know who I can call when I'm bleeding to death"

NAI'S POV

"Alright I talked to her, and she said she won't tell my mom" I explained and I hopped into bed

I wasn't sure what happened to Luis, but I can say that there was nothing wrong with his mom and him. After all they rarely argue. The only option I can think of is Connie.

"Your sleeping bag is in your closet right?" He asked

"Forget about that, today just sleep next to me on my bed"

"Are you sure?" He hesitated "I don't wanna make you feel-"

"Yes dumbass, now come on or else I'll make Nico take the spot"

I flicked the light off as I laid on my bed, Luis laying next to me. I turned around and faced him, I wasn't tired, so I at least wanted to know why he broke down like that.

"Luis I know this is out of the blue, but I wanna know what happened. I've never seen you break down like that" I whispered, hoping I didn't say this at the wrong time

"Connie and I... went our separate ways..." he mumbled sadly "It wasn't meant to be Nai"

You can tell it hurt him that badly. His brows were almost connected as his eyes were casted down. This was the first and probably last time I'll see him like this.

"I'm sorry Luis"

He sighed "It's alright, we didn't really have much in common as I thought"

"Want me to kick her ass?" I requested

"Thought she was your friend?"

"Well yeah-" I cleared my throat "However, YOU'RE my best friend"

"No it's fine, it was meant to be Nai"

"Darn, I could've given her the left upper cut" I snickered

He let out a chuckle "As if you can do that"

"Oh? You think I can't? I got ninja skills" I smiled

"Let's just get some sleep okay? We have school tomorrow remember?" He noted

"Right, school. Okay, night Luis"

"Before we get some sleep" he quickly pecks my cheek "Thanks for being there for me"

I felt my cheeks burn up as I turned over "Night dirtbag"

"Night moron"
