Ever since Kaz and Madison kissed, there was tension in the penthouse of the heroes, which was not a shock to anyone. Everyone kind of purposefully avoided each other. You see, Chase and Madison avoided each other. Evelyn was avoiding Kaz and Madison, while Elizabeth was avoiding Bree. Skylar and Elizabeth were avoiding each other and Oliver and that should be about it.
There was only one thing that made Kazimieras Martinez sad; Evelyn was giving him the cold shoulder.
Even though everybody - and with that, it's meant everybody - knew that Evelyn had a huge crush on Kaz, it was still unclear to him at this point.
Kaz had always enjoyed spending time with her. They could joke around and laugh all day and all night long. He would later learn that the stinging pain that he was feeling from her silent treatment was from love.
Yes, love.
Aren't you supposed to like someone, before you love them?
Yes, that is true, and Kaz did like her. Very, very much so. Nonetheless, Kaz was something that could only be described with the word daft. He was very much in love with Evelyn, though, he had yet to figure that out for himself.
So there he was, bitterly muttering about Evelyn to his two best friends. Fortunately, he wasn't mad at Madison, for he did not think that she thought this would happen.
Oliver couldn't care less about Kaz's girl-problems with Evelyn, since he already knew the answer. He had something else on his mind anyway. A different dilemma that's better left for another time.
Yet, he had to sit there and listen to his best friend. Not only because that's what best friends do, also because Madison and Kaz didn't want to give the wrong impression again by sitting alone together, talking.
"She has been acting like this for two whole weeks. I don't get it," Kaz said with a deep sigh. Madison and Oliver exchanged a knowing look. Kaz himself had been moping around for hours.
"And you have absolutely no clue whatsoever why she might do that after seeing you and Mads kiss?" Oliver asked him, practically spelling out the answer for him. Kaz still didn't get it.
"She's been ignoring me the entire time. I don't know why she's so angry about it. She's normally never angry, unlike Mads," Kaz spoke and received a joking hit from Madison. "I miss hanging out with her, but every time I talk to her, she can't even look me in the eye-"
"That's because she likes you, you absolute idiot!"
Madison's eyes immediately when she blurted out the words.
"Uh, you know, as in, uh- you know, friends and such. You know?" Oliver tried to convince Kaz otherwise. Kaz nodded, simply because he didn't know what to do. All this time she liked me, he thought to himself.
A strange man then walked into the penthouse, causing the teens who were sitting on the couch to be in attack-mode.
"Douglas," Bree said happily, as she walked down the stairs. She continued walking over to him and pulled him in a short hug.
In the meantime, Chase had gotten out of the kitchen area and was standing next to the man named Douglas. He and Chase weren't exactly hugging-buddies.
Adam, Leo and Evelyn emerged from the terrace. Once Leo saw Madison, Oliver and Kaz, he had to make a comment. "Oh look, it's the three stooges."
"Guys, we've been over this," Kaz sighed. "We prefer the three musketeers."
"I prefer no nickname at all," Oliver argued.
Madison shrugged. "I honestly couldn't care less."
"Guys," Chase began, successfully grasping everyone's attention. "We would like you to meet Douglas, our uncle. Well, technically he's our father."
"Yeah, like we would ever call him that," Elizabeth chuckled as she too, walked down the stairs.
"I like to call him evil uncle daddy for if anyone would like to call him that," Adam very generously told the group.
"Wow, you're the guy that tried to kill them," Kaz said on a serious tone. He got up and walked over to Douglas. "Nice to meet you," he beamed and happily shook Douglas's hand.
Douglas went on to make a comment about Kaz's appearance, as he thought he was Oliver, who Chase had described as "scrummy". It was safe to say that Oliver wasn't exactly pleased. Neither was Chase.
"Hi, I'm Skylar," Skylar then introduced herself.
Douglas shook her hand with no emotion. "Ah, the alien girl. I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed. I thought you would have like three heads or something."
"Don't be silly. You shed them when you're little and you keep them under your pillow for the head fairy," Skylar explained with a roll of her eyes, as to show that it should be obvious.
Madison was last to introduce herself. She held out her hand towards Douglas with a faint smile. "I'm Madison, nice to meet you."
"Ah, so this is the girl you can't shut up about-" Douglas began towards Chase, who immediately mimed him to shut up. "I meant, the girl with all the powery powers."
"Powery powers?" Madison questioned to him.
"Well, let's just say that Chase never specifically talks about your powers," Douglas said with a hint of evil in his voice. He knew exactly what he was doing. "Anyway, it looks like I'll be staying here with you while I'm brother's gone."
"Where did he go though?" Evelyn asked Douglas. "Not that I'm complaining. I think that I speak for all of us when I say that we needed a break."
The teens instantly agreed.
"He's back home," Douglas explained. "He might check it, but he wanted to be with Tasha when the baby arrives."
"Probably to ram a bionic chip in her neck when Tasha's not looking," Bree made a remark.
"Anyway, my first official order of business is to design the new mission suits," Douglas told the teens, who were all pleasantly surprised, except for Chase.
"Ho, wow, wow, wow," he interrupted him. "You can't. I've been busy designing these mission suits for weeks."
"Such a shame," Madison retorted. As you might've guessed, Madison and Chase still hadn't spoken about the incidents and neither was going to give in any time soon. The downside of having two stubborn people in a relationship.
This caused both sides to make snarky comments to one another in the hope of even the smallest bit of attention from the other.
"I think we all agree that the one who created you is much more suitable to create the mission suits," Douglas continued, giving Chase no time to comment back on Madison, much to both Chase and Madison's disappointment.
"Yeah," Oliver agreed without a second thought. He, too, was still mad at Chase for getting Skylar's powers back and pushing her sister to kiss Kaz. "Cause Chase can't be trusted with anything- I mean, I would like to be on Douglas's team please."
It surprised Oliver, when Kaz actually stood up for Chase. "I don't know... I mean, Chase is the smartest man in the world and he did cure Skylar all by himself."
In all honesty, Kaz couldn't really care less about the mission suits. He was more or less trying to make Chase look good in front of Madison and what better way to do that than her best friend complimenting him. Madison had trouble taking her eyes of Chase while Kaz was talking about him.
"Thank you, Kaz," Chase beamed. "And I think we could all agree that we don't want our mission suits to be made by anyone who looks like a hipster porky-pine."
"But a hipster, flannel-wearing lumberjack is fine?" Evelyn teased Chase, who only huffed in response. Ever since the two incidents with Madison, he hadn't exactly had any good comebacks.
"Alright, I see how this is going," Douglas began.
"We're not choosing sides," Leo warned the guys, referring to him and Adam. 'We've seen some Chase against Douglas fights and let's just say... No, thank you."
"Whatever suits your boat," Douglas told Leo.
"Do we have a boat?" Adam then questioned confused. "But, more importantly, where can we find clothes that fit the boat?"
"Anyway," Douglas continued once more, ignoring Adam's odd questions. "I guess Oliver and I will work on my version of the suit, while you and Kaz can spin your wheels on something we'll never use."
"That's right we will!" Chase fired back, not fully realising what he just said.
"Yeah you will," Oliver added.
"Yeah we will," Kaz joined and then turned to Chase. "Sorry, what are we willing?"
"We're going to make the most powerful, intimidating, 'we take no prisoners' mission suits EVER," Chase replied and stood really close to Kaz as he whispered. "It's dress-up time. And you just became my doll."
"Ten bucks that this is going haywire within the day," Madison started a bet among the girls, as Leo and Adam already left looking for boat-sized clothing.
"Then you'll definitely win those ten bucks," Evelyn argued. "There's no way that they'll even make it to day two."
"You have to specify your time," Skylar said.
Madison shook her head. "Ten bucks, within the day. Take it or leave it."
"I'm not betting on a definite loss," Elizabeth called.
"Hello?? We can hear you," Oliver let the girls know.
"We know," they said in unison.
This was arguably the first time the girls bonded without a fight.
πππ
The girls not arguing only lasted a short time. Before you knew it, they were in a typical fight about stealing each other's shoe commercial.
Bree had booked herself a shoe commercial to sell her brand-new shoe-line called "Breezers". While shooting for the commercial, she stumbled on a rock and flew towards a baby. Skylar was very quick to use her super-speed to rescue the baby. This caused the producers to go to Skylar for the shoe commercial instead of Bree, making Bree green of envy.
Yes, it was a lot, but in the end, none of them got the shoe commercial.
Meanwhile, Evelyn was still mad at Madison for kissing Kaz and him kissing her back. She purposefully avoided both of them as much as possible and giving them the cold shoulder.
And where was Elizabeth during all this drama? She hadn't talked to Bree in a long time, but Bree didn't seem to notice or care much about it. She also had beef with Madison because of that same reason. She felt like Madison stole Bree away from her and neither seemed to care one bit that they excluded her. Meanwhile, she and Skylar weren't getting along either. Both had an obvious crush on Oliver, neither wanted to admit it and yet both knew from the other. This had caused some unspoken drama between the two.
Instead, Elizabeth went to find comfort in her brothers, who were actually very kind and understanding about the whole ordeal. Adam especially. She was and would always be his little sister and no one ever dared to mess with his little sisters.
Since Chase was so busy with himself and his own problems, he was blindsided to see Elizabeth's problems. She on the other hand didn't go to him for comfort either like she usually would. She knew it would be too much for him.
Chase, Kaz, Oliver and Douglas had been working on the new mission suits all day long, but both suits proved to be unable to be used during battle. Instead, Chase and Douglas worked together as a team and made comfortable and usable mission suits without the hundreds of extras, thought of by Oliver and Kaz.
So in the end, at least one good thing happened, but the Elite Force was having more trouble than ever to become one well-oiled machine.
Hihi, I tried to upload this chapter multiple times, but just couldn't because of the continuous comments I got.
Thank you so much for all the support, it means the world to me!β€
