It stayed quiet in the room for a long time. Everyone was kind of shocked about the events that happened in front of them. No one dared to go after the pair that had just left the room, not even Oliver.
Chase and Evelyn on the other hand were always first to bicker with one another. Don't get the wrong idea; it was playful bickering. Except for this time.
Evelyn turned to face Chase, before she blurted out, "What did you do?!"
"I- I-," he mumbled back, but ultimately gave no answer. Truth was that he wasn't sure of what he just did. His commando app, which none of the superheroes knew about - except for Evelyn -, activated once Kaz began making fun of him while Madison was sitting right next to him. It got disengaged by the mere sight of them kissing.
"You pushed them and you pushed them and you pushed them and they finally snapped," Evelyn continued. "Congratulations, you made your crush kiss someone else." She, too, then left the room.
Yes, she and Kaz were just friends. Well... That's what he wanted. Evelyn had not been able yet to move past the friend zone and on to something more. Kaz was simply too oblivious. She gave him subtle hints time and time again - too afraid to actually tell him she liked him - but he hadn't picked up on the matter yet.
As the tension in the room got worse, Skylar sighed. She had mixed emotions. On the one hand, she wanted to support Chase, because she felt sorry for him. On the other hand, she was always going to stay loyal to her soulmate and sister. With a sympathetic smile to Chase, she went after Evelyn.
Bree was shocked about what she just witnessed. Their teammate succeeded in activating Spike, but more importantly, her bestie just kissed a boy and she could not talk to her about it! She was a little upset that it had to be Kaz, but she'd get over it.
Leo and Adam were pretty much unbothered by the entire situation. So was Elizabeth. She was still mad at her sister for choosing Madison over her in every situation; it didn't feel fair.
The remaining teens of the Elite Force scattered around the penthouse or left the building.

Saying that Evelyn Carter was mad at Chase Davenport was an understatement. She was livid to say the least. She had told Chase about her crush on Kaz and yet he was able to make him kiss with someone else, and then Madison that is.
Evelyn and Madison never really got along for one simple reason; her crush on Kaz. Madison had always been fiercely protective over her brother and best friend and usually despised the girls that liked them. She tried not to, but she couldn't help it.
It hurt to see Madison kiss Kaz more than Evelyn would like to admit. Madison knew about her crush from day one, yet she just blatantly kissed him right in front of her eyes.
Skylar rushed into the room that Evelyn was in. She ran over to her and pulled her in a tight hug. Evelyn taught her that instead of roughhousing with her whenever Skylar felt appreciative or whenever Evelyn felt sad to just hug her tightly.
Skylar took this advise to heart and does so every time. She stroked her back, while Evelyn was still trying to comprehend the situation.
He was not her boyfriend. He did not cheat on her and yet, she felt so betrayed. More by Madison than Kaz, who got more or less sucked into it.
The bottom line was that he was not her boyfriend.

"I'm so sorry, Kaz," Madison apologized for the tenth time. "I didn't mean to use you like that."
"It's cool," he chuckled. "You may do that whenever."
"I feel horrible," she admitted defeated and dropped herself on her bed.
Kaz sat next to her and wrapped a reassuring arm around her. "Don't feel horrible. I don't mind what you did and Chase needs to grow some balls instead of getting angry over our friendship."
Madison rested her head on his shoulder and smiled softly at his words, before she spoke, "Did you notice that he's the only one who calls me Maddie? I think it's cute that he does."
"Yeah," Kaz replied shortly. He was not exactly the kind of person to talk to about boys, even though Madison had continuously done so throughout the years. It was mainly always she talking to him about boys who she thought were cute and him listening. He knew that it was just a small crush or that she only thought that a boy was cute, but that she never had actual feelings for a boy.
Until now.
He could tell by the way she got upset over the things that he did or how happy she could get whenever she talked to him. She tried to downplay it many times, but Kaz could see the glistening in her eyes; She had real feelings for him.

Kaz had brought Kyle over to the weapons room in a last attempt to win him over. He opened the door for his sibling with a big, goofy grin on his face. "And here we are; the weapons room."
Kyle gasped in response, and said, "Wow, this is awesome!"
"Yeah, well, just another day at the office for me, Kyle," Kaz bragged. "I guess I'm a lot cooler than you thought."
"Yeah, but to be fair, the bar was pretty low," Kyle retorted, making Kaz deadpanned. Kyle was immediately mesmerized by a large computer in the back of the room. It had a metal cage around it, but that didn't stop him. "What does this thing do?"
"That's the mainframe," Kaz explained. He was a little too proud of himself that he remembered that from Mr Davenport's tour weeks ago.
Kyle turned to his older brother. "What's a mainframe?"
"It's a complicated system of-" he continued his explanation, but then realised that he didn't actually know what it did. Then again, he only listen to half of Davenport's speech the entire tour. "Mains and frames."
"Wow, cool!" Kyle beamed. He was definitely Kaz's little brother.
"Anyway," Kaz said, changing the subject. He guided Kyle back out of the room. "We should probably head upstairs."
"Cool, let's see what Chase is doing," Kyle said excitedly and almost cheered in the process.
That was enough for Kaz to turn back into the room with him. "Let's stay here for five more minutes," he gave in, as his brother ran back into the room. "Just try not to-" He got cut off by his little brother activating an alarm, before he continued. "Touch anything."
"Intruder detected," a low voice boomed. The door of the metal cage slammed close. "Lock down completed. Activating electric perimeter."
The metal cage got electrified, as Kaz tried to touch it. He immediately pulled back his arm when he felt a shock going through his body. "Son of a-"
Chase then rushed into the room. He happened to be in the headquarters when everything went haywire and the alarm was turned on. "Why is the alarm on? What are you doing here?" he instantly questioned, while turning his head to the metal cage. He got startled when he noticed that Kyle was in the cage. "AH! What did you do?!"
"I was showing Kyle around, then suddenly the cage shut itself down and got all electricy, that thing started blaring - don't you people have alarms that are a little less jarring? Perhaps some wind chimes or the gentle chirps of a cricket?!" Kaz told him, starting at the problem and ending somewhere completely different - like always.
"I can mute the alarm, but the cage is locked for security reasons," Chase said, as he walked over to the cyber desk in the room. "Why did you even let him in here?"
"Because I wanted to show him that I'm cooler than you," Kaz confessed sadly, but then lit up. "I think it's working."
Chase felt bad for him, but also a little for himself. "Believe me... I'm not cooler than you," he admitted, before focusing on the Kyle issue again. "He initiated lock down mode. I'll have to disable it remotely."
"You do you," Kaz replied, not really knowing how to respond.
"My password isn't working...," Chase muttered, while entering his password again. "Did your brother touch anything?"
"Of course he did, he's my brother. We're touchers," Kaz said like Chase should know. "Besides, if he didn't touch anything, then the alarm wouldn't have gone off, would it?"
Chase wanted to make a clever comeback, but he was speechless. This was the second time that Kaz was smarter than him and he couldn't stand it. He went on to change the subject back to Kyle and said that he would need to use his bionics to save him.
"Awesome!" Kyle beamed.
"Oh, it's not that awesome," Kaz scowled.
Chase used his molecular kinesis to try and break the fence with a steel-bold cutter. However, things went awry when the electricity went through the cutter and his entire body, as his molecular kinesis somehow worked as a conductor. He was jolted back by the shock and crashed on the floor, making him unconscious.
"Chase!" Kaz howled at the sight of his teammate flying through the air and ran over to him.
"Is he okay?!" Kyle shrieked from his metal cage, obviously scared and worried.
"Yeah, I think so," Kaz diagnosed. "But I have to say that for a bionic hero, that was very disappointing."
He helped Chase back up, as Chase slowly regained consciousness again. "Ugh, I taste metal," was the first thing he whined when he was awake again.
"Must be from the voltage your body absorbed," Kaz said, actually making a good point. Chase shook his head and spit out two metal bolts. "Or a piece of the bold cutter."
Kaz and Kyle had a little argument about the safety of the metal cage, which turned into a discussion about the fact that Kyle had a race-car bed and Kaz never got one.
Kaz felt helpless; he didn't know what to do and he was running out of time. He went back to Chase and asked him, "Chase, what do I do?"
Chase giggled as he touched his feet. "Feet," he stated the obvious with the biggest smile on his face. Kaz had to admit that it was kind of funny and nice at the same time to see him not so worried for once.
"Please, if the guy with the bionics couldn't get me out of here, what chance do you have?" Kyle huffed, mocking his older brother in the process.
"What chance do I have? I'll show you what chance I have," Kaz said determined. He used his pyrokinesis to blast fire out of his hand to heat up the hinges.
The hinges melted, causing the door to fall out of its frame.
"So, what do you think of your older brother now?" Kaz asked his sibling.
Kyle looked at him with big eyes, before running out of the room, screaming.
In the meantime, Chase had gotten back to his senses, but was still sitting on the ground. "That was a really smart move, Kaz. I mean that."
Kaz could hear the sincerity in his voice, which brought a smile to his face. "Thanks."
"I'm sorry that I was such a jerk earlier," Chase apologized, while scratching the back of his head. "For some reason, I get very jealous when it comes to Maddie."
Kaz sat down next to him and gave him a pat on his back. He smiled kindly to him and spoke, "I know, man. It's okay."
"I just don't know what to do when I'm around her. I can't even speak properly," Chase admitted and sighed deeply. "I'm hopeless."
"Chase, I'll tell you what," Kaz said with a grin on his face. "I'll help you out with Mads."
