Abigail Henson has been through a bunch of weird shit in her life. Being told she's a witch, however? There's got to be a whole new word for a situation like that.

Abby thinks words were coming out of Nick's mouth, for his lips for moving and his eyes were on her. It was like the girl was under water โ€“ everything around her was blurred out and there was only one thing on her mind: a witch?

Not knowing what happened in time she was "out of it", the girl was more than confused when she finally snapped back into reality, to find herself in front of a large statue. A large beast statue.

"What am I doing here?" She whispered, not really knowing if anyone was around her to answer.

"We told you," Nicholas said back, appearing next to her. "There's a lot you need to know about your family, and we're here to help you."

"Why can't my parents just tell me? I'm pretty sure they classify as my 'family'." Abby snapped, using her fingers for air quotations when she said 'family.'

Nick sighed softly and turned to look at Abby. "It's because they don't remember, Abigail." The girl in question didn't even snap at the use of her full name, she just looked the boy in the eyes, slightly taken aback.

"What do you mean?" She asked lowly, feeling herself go cold.

"I think you may want to sit down."

And so Nicholas Scratch told Abigail everything; down to the last detail (exactly the same way the High Priest told him). The entire time, the girl was silent, taking in everything being told to her.

"So basically what your telling me is, I'm evil." She whispered, not having the energy to raise her voice.

Nick was silent for a second, unsure of how to politely agree without getting her upset. He finally ended up with, "You aren't evil, Abby; you were just cursed with an unfortunate family and their unfortunate past. There's nothing wrong with you." However, his tone of voice didn't seem reassuring, it was more convincing.

Like he was trying to teach her before anyone else had the chance.

Abigail Henson didn't return home that day. Or the day after that. Or the day after that. She tried and begged and pleaded, but the "High Priest" guy gave her a firm 'no' every time. It was starting to become a habit. Abby walked in the direction of the restrooms about hour ago and just so happened to walk by Father Faustus as well. He told her 'no' before she could even utter a (grumpy) hello.

It's been a week since Abby saw the bright lights of her bedroom. A week since she's been pleasantly annoyed by Maddie and it's been a week since she heard her mother complain to her father about... well, life. It's been a week since she stepped outside.

It hasn't been all bad, though. Nicholas kept her company, he never left her side in fact. They went everywhere together. It was starting to get a little annoying.

"Abby," he called from outside the girl's closed "dorm" door. The girl in question rolled her eyes so hard she was surprised her eyes didn't stay like that.

Begrudgingly, she opened the door. Of course Nick was there (he was every morning), but this time three girls were behind him.

Abby stared shocked, weirded out by the presence of other life besides Nick and the High Priest.

"I'm Prudence," one of the girls said, sticking her hand out for Abby to shake. She had short, light hair, darker skin, and like the two girls behind her, was wearing a blue uniform.

"Abby," the brunette introduced back, meeting the girl's hands in a surprisingly firm handshake. 'Prudence' straightens her back, and turned to look at Nicholas.

"This is the Henson girl?" She demanded, sticking her finger out in Abby's direction. "She isn't at allโ€“"

"Evil?" Abby cut off. "From what I've been told, you should be glad I'm not," she somewhat joked, scratching her arm nervously.

Prudence grinned (and something told Abby she didn't do that a lot) and walked out of the room, the two other girls (both names Abby couldn't remember) following her out.

"I think they like you," Nicholas stated, watching the door close dramatically behind them. "That doesn't happen often so I think you should bask in it."

"What are they? Royalty or something?"

"Might as well be," Nick replied, staring into Abby's eyes. "Come, I want to show you something."

"Oh, so I can finally leave?" Abby joked, but Nick stiffened. His usual carefree attitude and posture were kicked out the window in .732 seconds. His eyebrows were furrowed, his eyes, usually comforting, darker than normal. It was like a whole other person was standing in front of Abby.

"We're keeping you here for a reason, you do know that right?" He asked lowly, good mood gone and voice deeper than it was before.

"Iโ€“"

"If you leave knowing what you know about your family... we can't risk it." Nick continued again, clearly not in the mood to be argued with. Obviously, the girl ignored the clear sign.

"I'm not bad." Abby snapped.

"We don't know that for sure," he replied, way too calm for her liking all of a sudden.

Abby's breath caught in her throat. She straightened her back and cleared her throat, her mood, too, calming. That was the moment Nicholas Scratch knew he got on the bad side of the wrong person.

"I think you need to leave," she said, opening her dorm door for the boy to exit out of.

Staring at her unsurely, Nick bowed his head down low and exited the door, hearing it bang shut behind him. The sound echoing throughout the empty hallways, probably being heard from all across the Academy.

Poor Nicholas Scratch doesn't even know what he got himself into.
