Big head, small limbs.

The size of a big apricot.

Kenma couldn't help but frown
as he turned the apple in his hand
before he took another bite just to
continue staring at the sonogram.

When would the baby be
as big as an apple?

“What am I even thinking..”

The blonde shook his head softly
as he dropped the picture
and closed his eyes.

Could he really picture
himself with a child?

Keeping the baby would mean..

Staying pregnant, giving birth
eventually, being a student while
taking care of a newborn.

He wasn't good with other people,
social interaction had always been
something that had exhausted
him more than anything else.

Being a mother would mean
putting all of his fears aside
to be there for his child.

Being a mother at his age would
mean facing the whole world that was
going to judge him for his decision.

Was he strong enough for that?

Probably not.

But then again..

“You look like your dad.
Probably took after his size too, huh?
Stupid giant.”

Kenma caught himself smiling softly
as he picked the sonogram up again
and took another bite from his apple.

He just couldn't stop looking at it.

But when his phone started buzzing
beside him, he teared his gaze away
from the photo to pick it up.

“Kuroo?”

“Hi kitten.
Whatcha doing?”

Kenma could hear the smirk in
his boyfriend's voice and couldn't
help but smile too.

“I'm actually eating an apple.”

“Oh, really?
That sounds interesting,
tell me more about it.”

Tetsuro chuckled as he made
himself comfortable on his bed,
laying on his stomach with his
elbows propped up so he could
rest his chin on his palm.

“You're annoying.”

“I know, I think you told me before.
Anyway, how.. How was the doctor's
appointment? Do you feel okay?”

The pudding head could hear the
hesitation in the older's voice and he
was thankful for the older's empathy.

He wasn't sure how much he
wanted to talk about it yet but he
wouldn't make the mistake of
leaving Kuroo in the dark again.

“I'm okay. I got some medication
that helps with my nausea.
And uh, yeah.. Everything is fine.”

“I'm glad.
Have you eaten dinner yet?”

“Mhm, mom made chicken curry.
But Kuroo?”

“Hm?”

Kenma paused for a moment as
he picked the sonogram up again,
his lips curling into a soft smile.

“Can you come over tomorrow
after school? I want to show
you something.”

“Of course.
Will you come to practice tomorrow?

Just to say hi to the others..”

“I'm not sure.
Won't it be weird if I go
but can't play?
They'll ask questions..”

“You're over thinking things, kitten.
You're still part of the team and
stopping by to say hi even if you
can't play is a nice gesture.
They have understood by now
that you're having health issues
and can't play at the moment.”

“You'll be there?”

“Of course!
Don't you want to watch
your talented and handsome
boyfriend play?”

“Shut up.
I'll bring my Switch if I have
to wait until practice is over.”

“You really know how to
break my heart, kitten.”

Tetsuro whined, making Kenma
roll his eyes with a quiet chuckle.

“You don't look sick,
why are you still on the bench?
The first real games are right
around the corner.
Don't you want to play?”

Yaku asked as he joined Kenma on
the bench to take a sip of his water.

But the blonde only sighed and
placed his Switch aside to focus
on the perfect excuse.

“I get dizzy if I move too much.
I have trouble with my stomach
and the medication I take makes
me dizzy easily.”

“Oh. Is it something permanent?
Or will you be able to play
again eventually?”

“It depends.
The medication needs to work first.”

Yaku nodded in understanding
but looked up with squinched
eyes when Lev joined them,

a big smile on his face.

“What?”

“Kenma is here,
I need to greet my favorite setter!”

Lev laughed to himself as he
reached out to ruffle the blonde's
hair but gasped when Kenma
slapped his hand away.

“I'm still older than you, Lev.”

“I know, I know.
But it's been soo long
since I saw you the last time!”

The silver-haired boy whined
as he let his whole body drop
between Kenma and Yaku on the
bench, making the other two groan.

“I'm not going anywhere.
You can watch me from afar, Lev.”

“Always so cold.”

Lev continued to whine but looked
up when Kuroo appeared in front
of them with his arms crossed
over his chest.

“Instead of harassing my boyfriend,
you could kindly move your asses
back on the court because
practice isn't over yet.
Especially not for you, Lev.”

“You're still worse than Shouyou.”

“Hey! I'm trying!”

“Back to practice.
Now.”

And Kenma could only roll his
eyes with a small smile when
Kuroo winked at him before
he returned his attention
back to his Switch.

“Ah, this is much better.”

Kuroo sighed happily as he let
himself fall down beside his
boyfriend on the bed, now in a
cozy hoodie and sweatpants
after taking a short shower.

“Your hair is still wet, go away.
You look like a soaked rooster.”

The blonde complained when
the ravenette tried to nuzzle his
face in the crook of Kenma's neck
and literally pushed his face
away, making Tetsuro whine.

“But I want cuddles.”

“You always do.”

But instead of giving up,
Kuroo only pulled his hood
over his head before resting his

head on the younger's shoulder.

“Better?”

“Mhm.”

Kenma's focus was still on his
Switch as he tried to finish the level
and his boyfriend didn't complain.

As long as he was allowed to
cuddle the blonde as much as
his heart desired, he wouldn't say
a word and just watch quietly.

“So.. You wanted to
show me something?”

Kuroo asked when his boyfriend
ended the game and placed
the Switch aside.

“Mhm.”

The pudding head gently shoved
his boyfriend's head from his
shoulder so he could get up and
collect a small sheet of paper Kuroo
couldn't really recognize before
he stepped over the older's body
again just to make himself
comfortable beside the ravenette.

This time he was the one resting
his head on his boyfriend's chest
and he couldn't help but hum in
content when Kuroo wrapped his
arm around his small waist
to pull him closer.

“When I was at the doctor's yesterday,
they did some tests and stuff.
And they performed an ultrasound.”

Kenma carefully handed the
sonogram to his boyfriend,
not daring to look up because
he wasn't sure if he was ready
to see the older's reaction.

“The gray bean is the baby, right?”

“Mhm. It really does look like a bean.”

The ravenette let his thumb
wander over the outline of what
was apparently their baby bean,
the corners of his mouth twitching
into a soft smile.

“The tiny limbs look kinda cute.”

He chuckled,
making Kenma exhale in relief.

“Yeah.
It's a mini human bean.”

And Kuroo could only grin at
his boyfriend's words because
he was right.

“I can't believe we did that.
I mean..
It's kinda crazy and hard
to believe but..
It's kinda cool too.”

But Kenma didn't answer
because despite showing Tetsuro.
the sonogram and hearing his words,
this still had nothing to do with the
rational decision they'd have
to make eventually.

He knew that it was his decision
to make in the first place
because it was his body.

But to him it all depended on how
far Kuroo would go to support him.
