Aaravi's pov
Finally, the day.
My wedding.
I stood in front of the mirror, gazing at myself, adorned in a red bridal lehenga, bangles, and whatnot. I pondered over my decisions, but I didn't have any other options.
"Ma'am, please have a seat and let us do our work," the makeup artist said, and I nodded. I took a seat, and the makeup artist began her work.
After the makeup completed
"Ma'am, you look very beautiful," the makeup artist said, and I gave a faint smile in return.
And the makeup artist left the room.
Did I make the right decision or not?
Veer bhaiya hasn't talked to me in a week.
He is ignoring me.
The person I love the most in the world is ignoring me.
When he found out that the wedding is a week away, he was very angry and left home. He hasn't come home or talked to me once in this week.
I used to call him four to five times a day, but he either said he was busy or his assistant picked up the phone call and made excuses
I know he's angry with me,
But that doesn't mean he will ignore me like this. Besides him, who else is there in my world?
And the one I'm going to marry, I've only met him once, and that too when he came to see me.
Will his family love me, or will they treat me like the way aunt treat me ? I was thinking about all this when there was a knock on the door. I quickly went to stand in front of the door,
Because I thought Veer bhaiya had come, I knew he couldn't stay angry with me for so many days.
I opened the door, and when I saw the face in front of me, I froze in place,
No, no, no.
Yeh sacch nahi ho sakta.
(This can't be true)
The reason for my panic attacks,
The reason for my anxiety,
The reason for my nightmares,
No, no,
This can't be happening,
He can't be there.
Summoning courage, I looked towards the person whose face had a sinister smile.
The face I never wanted to see in my life is standing in front of me outside my room.
"Hello, my dear sister, it's been a long time," he entered my room.
Seeing him, everything that happened four years ago started replaying in front of me like a reel.
My eyes welled up,
My hands started sweating,
My legs began to tremble.
Vikram Sachdeva.
My biggest nightmare.
No no, Aaravi, you can't break down like this.
You have to be strong, you have to be okay.
Just take a deep breath and close your eyes.
Yeah, just like this.
A warm breath on my neck and a shiver down my spine.
I quickly took two steps back and gathered all my courage to speak.
"What are you doing here and in my room?" I said.
"Tsk tsk, it's my dear sister's wedding, and can her beloved brother not be here? Could that ever happen?" he said with a wicked smile.
"You are not my brother," I said with great difficulty.
He is not my brother.
I have only one brother, Veer bhai.
"Well, I won't beat around the bush. I'll tell you why I'm here," he took a step forward.
"W-what... what's the matter?" I tremblingly said.
"Does your would-be husband know what happened with you four years ago?" his wicked smile grew wider.
"Think about it. What will happen if he finds out?" he said and took a step towards me.
His words echoed in my ears.
What if he finds out what happened with you four years ago?
Just the thought made my soul shiver.
"And if anyone outside finds out that Karanveer Sachdeva's sister is impure, what will happen to your brother's reputation, huh?" his smirk grew more .
But it was his last statement that froze me.
Impure.
Those words echoed like a dagger in my ears.
Yeah, he is right.
I am impure.
Aaravi Sachdeva is impure.
"I feel really bad for you, Aaravi," he made a grimace and took a step forward, and I took two steps back again.
"You... you don't... need... to... feel... bad... for... me," I said.
"Awww, should I not even feel bad for my own sister?" he said and grabbed my hand, pulling me closer. I tried to free my hand.
"Look... let... go... of... my... hand..." I said, trying to pull my hand away.
His touch made me feel disgusted.
"Why are you so triggered? I just held your hand," he said with a sinister laugh.
Just then, the door of the room opened, and Veer bhaiya entered, his face filled with anger as if he was about to kill Vikram bhaiya anytime soon.
Seeing Veer bhaiya, Vikram bhaiya let go of my hand and stepped back a couple of steps away from me.
I quickly ran to Veer bhaiya and hugged him, tears streaming down my face.
"Ohhh hello, my dear brother," Vikram waved his hand as if he wasn't afraid of Veer bhaiya at all.
Veer bhaiya let go of me and delivered a powerful punch to Vikram bhaiya's face.
I gasped when I saw blood trickling from the corner of Vikram Bhai's lips. I clutched my dupatta tightly and started looking at them. They were glaring at each other as if they were about to attack each other.
"Karanveer, you shouldn't have done this," Vikram Bhai said, and was about to punch Veer bhaiya when Veer bhaiya grabbed his hand and twisted it.
"You shouldn't have come to my sister's room. I let you go that day on Uncle's insistence, but now there's no one to save you," Veer bhaiya gritted his teeth, but Vikram bhaiya started laughing like a madman.
"Ohho Karanveer, what do you think, you can hurt me? Today is your sister's wedding, you can't do anything now," Vikram bhai laughed like a lunatic.
"Your," Vikram bhai cut off Veer bhaiya's words.
"Now let me go, or it won't take me two minutes to ruin your sister's honor," he said, and my whole body started trembling. I looked towards Veer bhaiya, whose face had turned red due to anger.
Veer bhaiya released his grip and approached me.
"Vikram, I'll count to two. If you don't leave this room right now, nobody will be able to stop me," Veer bhaiya warned.
"Okay, I'm leaving now, but I'll be back soon," he said and left the room.
"Are you alright, princess?" Veer bhaiya asked, cupping my face in his rough palms.
"Yes, I'm fine. What could happen to me?" I said.
No, I'm not okay, Bhai.
I'm not.
But I can't tell you that, otherwise you'll unnecessarily worry.
Because you have done so much for me, and I don't want to cause you any more trouble.
"Are you sure, princess?" Veer bhaiya asked again, and I nodded.
"Dekho princess abhi bhi time hai tum iss shaadi se maana kar sakti hoo, don't worry main tumhe shaadi se bhagne mein madat karunga tum balcony se kud ke bhag jaana main security guards ko dekh lunga okay tum pehle dress change karlo, "he said.
(Look, princess, you still have time. You can refuse this wedding. Don't worry, I'll help you escape from the wedding. I'll watch out for the security guards, okay? You go change your dress first)
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Veer bhaiya looked very cute while saying this.
"Bhaiya, I will marry ," I said with a smile.
If I wanted to run away, I would have done it a long time ago, but if I ran away now, Chachi would scold you a lot, and others would blame you because of me. I'm not willing to accept that.
"But princess, you're still young," he said.
"No, but brother," I replied.
"Okay, whatever you think is right, you can do that. You've grown up so much that you can make your own decisions," he said , I can feel sadness in his tone and continued, "I'll tell Shreya to come to your room," and then left the room.
I want to escape from this world.
Where no one can find me.
The tsunamis of my life never seem to end
One goes, another comes
Why, God, did you make my life so difficult?
One fight ends, and another one enters my life.
"Wow, Aaravi tu toh kayamaat" Shreya said, snapping me out of my thoughts. I mouthed a thank you.
(you look stunning)
"Jabh tujhe jiju dekhenge woh toh mandap mein behosh ho jayenge," she continued with her teasing. This has been going on for the past week; she teases me using my future husband's name.
(When Jiju will see you, he'll faint right there at the pavillion)
"Shut up ," I replied.
She looked at my face for a second.
"You are happy with this wedding, right?" concern was evident in her tone.
"I am very happy," I said with a smile.
"Look, if you want to run away, just tell me now. I'll help you," she said.
"Why are you and Veer brother trying to make me run away from the wedding? First, Veer brother came and said this, now you're saying it," I said.
"Karan bhaiya also tell you this?" she said, putting a finger on her cheek, thinking for a moment, then jumping up excitedly.
"Woww kitna adventurous hoga na agar tu bhag gayi toh, mujhe toh yeh socch ke hi main excited ho rahi hai" she said enthusiastically.
(Wow, it would be so adventurous if you ran away! I'm getting excited just thinking about it)
"Get your wild imagination under control, I'm not going anywhere. I will go through with this wedding, and now nobody will say anything," I sternly said.
I don't know why these two want to make me run away from this wedding.
"By the way, Karan bhaiya has called me to bring you downstairs," she said, and I nodded.
From today, I won't be Aaravi Sachdeva anymore.
From today, I will become Aaravi Roy Kapoor.
I took a deep breath.
Author pov:
For a girl, marriage is supposed to be a big day and a happy occasion, but here, everything is the opposite for Aaravi.
There was neither happiness on her face nor was it a big day for her.
For her, it's a forced marriage, and that too because of her aunt.
Aaravi lifted her red bridal lehenga slightly and began to walk out of the room with Shreya. Her gaze shifted towards the door, where Karanveer was watching her, his eyes teary. Seeing this, tears welled up in Aaravi's eyes too. Karanveer moved his head slightly and approached Aaravi.
"Pata hi nahi chala meri princess kabh itni badi ho chuki ," Karanveer said and kissed her forehead. He held her hand and began to lead her towards the mandap.
(I didn't realize when my princess has grown up so much)
Only a few family members attended the wedding because Karanveer didn't want anyone to know about Aaravi's wedding yet. Aaravi is still studying in college, and if anyone finds out that she is marrying into the Kapoor family, it might become a bit difficult for her because the Kapoor family is quite influential in the world. Therefore, there were no paparazzi or business partners present.
Only a few family members from both Aaravi's and the Kapoor family were there.
And Karanveer, Shreya, and Aaravi proceeded to the garden area because the wedding was to take place there.
With each step Aaravi took, her heartbeat increased, and nervousness engulfed her. Aaravi's eyes were downcast with every step, and then Karanveer seated her at the mandap.
( Mandap means- pavillion)
Aaravi glanced at her would-be husband, whose face was veiled, so she couldn't see Nikshant's face.
The priest chanted some prayers, and the rituals began.
As the priest chanted mantras, tears started to flow from Karanveer's eyes. Aaravi's gaze was also fixed on Karanveer.
She didn't feel good at all seeing Karanveer crying for her.
She shook her head slightly upon seeing this, and a smile appeared on Karanveer's face. He wiped away his tears.
After the kanyadaan, they both stood up and began taking the seven wedding vows. They took vows, and now it was time for the application of sindoor and mangalsutra. Nikshant applied sindoor to Aaravi's hairline with a coin and filled it. Some sindoor fell on Aaravi's nose, and then Nikshant took the mangalsutra and, bending towards Aaravi, placed it around her neck.
"From today, you both are husband and wife. Now, seek the blessings of the elders," the priest said.
They both stood up and, leaving the mandap, started touching the feet of the elders. After touching everyone's feet, Aaravi bent down to touch Karanveer's feet, but he grabbed her shoulder and lifted her up.
"Princesses never touch feet," he said and hugged Aaravi tightly. Aaravi hugged him back just as tightly and started crying.
Karanveer looked at Nikshant and said, "Agar tumhari wajah se meri behen ki aankho mein kabhi aanshu aaye toh mujhse bura koi nahi hoga"," he warned Nikshant.
(If my sister's eyes ever shed tears because of you, no one will be worse off than me)
Before Nikshant could say anything, three voices came from behind, "Aap chinta maat kariye agar Nikshant ki wajah se bhabi ke aankho mein aanshu aaye toh hum teeno Nikshant ko nahi chhodenge," they said together.
(Don't worry, if tears ever come to Bhabhi's eyes because of Nikshant, we three won't spare him)
They were Aarav, Rishabh, and Yash.
Karanveer gave them a smile.
"By the way, it's time for the vidai so let's all go," Aarav said. Hearing this, Aaravi started crying even harder and held on to Karanveer even more tightly.
( Farewell)
"Don't cry, princess. If you miss me, just come home," Karanveer consoled her.
Nikshant was standing and watching everything, but his face showed no emotion, though anger was visible in his eyes.
Aaravi and Nikshant walked out of the house. Aaravi looked back at Karanveer and her aunt, then slowly walked towards her aunt and bent down to touch her feet.
"Mujhe toh nahi pata aap kyun humse itni nafrat karte hai jo maine kiya hi nahi par maine kabhi bhi aapko chachi ke roop mein nahi dekha hai maine hamesha se aapko aapni maa jaise dekha hai isliye aap mujhe aashirvaad dijiye ki main aapne iss rishte ko acche se nibha pau," she said, tears gathering in her eyes.
(I don't know why you hate me so much for something I didn't do, but I have never seen you as just an aunt. I've always seen you as a mother, so please bless me so that I can fulfill this relationship well)
"Aapna chehra mujhe kabhi maat dikhana aur kabhi bhi iss ghar mein phir se aane ka socchna bhi maat,"Mrs. Sachdeva whispered to Aaravi while hugging her. This made Aaravi's eyes fill with tears.
(Never show me your face again and never think of coming back to this house)
"Main aapni zindagi mein sabse kimti cheez de rahe , please usse aapni beti jaisa dekhiyega, agar usse koi bhi galti ho jaye toh bacchi smjh ke maaf kar dijiyega" Karanveer said, folding his hands in front of Nikshant's grandmother.
(I am giving away the most precious thing in my life, please treat her like your own daughter. If she makes any mistakes, forgive her as you would a child)
"Karanveer beta hum aaravi ko bahu jaise nahi leke Jaa rahe hai humne toh bohot pehle se usse iss ghar ki beti samjh liya hai," Grandma said with a smile.
(Karanveer, dear, we are not taking Aaravi as a daughter-in-law. We have always considered her a daughter of this house)
Aaravi glanced at Karanveer one last time.
Nikshant and Aaravi walked to the car.
"Give me the car keys," Nikshant said coldly, and the driver handed him the keys.
Nikshant got into the car while Aaravi stood outside.
"Do you need an invitation to get in the car?" Nikshant's voice was cold as ice.
Aaravi flinched. She quietly sat in the backseat.
"Do I look like your driver that you went and sat in the backseat?" Nikshant said angrily.
Aaravi got out of the car and sat in the passenger seat.
Aaravi was still crying, and her sobbing was irritating Nikshant. When he couldn't tolerate it any longer, he said, "Aapna roona band karo, main tumhare roona sunne ke liye nahi baitha huya hoon , mujhe tumhare roone ki awaj sunke irritate feel ho Raha hai."
(Stop crying. I'm not here to listen to you cry. Your crying is irritating me)
Hearing this, Aaravi stopped crying and began to sob quietly.
Her heart broke when she heard her husband's words.
Aaravi's sobbing had stopped as she looked out the window.
This is how her life had changed. Now she was someone's daughter-in-law, and her responsibilities had increased.
Aaravi, who was looking out the window, turned towards the ringing phone.
It was Nikshant's phone ringing.
Nikshant glanced at Aaravi once and then picked up the phone.
"Beta Nikshant, where did you go without the driver, and why haven't you and Aaravi come home yet? Are you both okay?" Grandma bombarded her questions as soon as he picked up.
"We are both fine. We're going to my penthouse," Nikshant said coldly.
"But beta, there are still more rituals to be done," Grandma said.
"Grandma, you asked me to get married, and I did. I don't know about any rituals," Nikshant said in a monotonous voice.
"But bet—" Grandma started, but Nikshant cut her off.
"No buts, Grandma. I'm going to my penthouse. I will bring your daughter-in-law to your house tomorrow, then you can do the rituals," Nikshant said and hung up the call.
Aaravi silently listened to their conversation.
There was a lot going on in Aaravi's mind, but she couldn't express any of it to Nikshant.
After some time, their car stopped in front of a large penthouse.
Aaravi's eyes widened at the sight of such a large penthouse.
Nikshant got out of the car and started walking towards the penthouse.
Aaravi followed him.
Nikshant climbed the stairs and entered a room; Aaravi followed him into the room.
The room was decorated in a combination of black and grey.
Aaravi was feeling scared because it was their first night together, and although she had given the marriage a chance, she didn't want to have any physical relationship at the moment because of her past.
As Aaravi was looking around the room, she snapped out of her trance upon hearing Nikshant's voice .
"This marriage means nothing to me , you are just my wife for the world but inside our home you are just only and solely servent "Nishant said and continued "I cannot stay in the same room with a characterless girl like you," he said and left, leaving Aaravi crying behind.
Here's the wedding chapter.
