Nikshant's pov

When I looked towards the stairs, I couldn't take my eyes off them. A girl wearing a pink saree was coming down the stairs, her face obscured, but the sound of her anklets echoed throughout the hall. I couldn't move my gaze away from her even though I couldn't see her face. I could hear the beating of my own heart but I quickly averted my eyes from her.

What's gotten into you, Nikshant? How can you stare at any girl like that?

"She's not just any girl; she's your future wife," my inner voice said.

"But she's not mine yet," I replied.

I snapped out of my thoughts and looked towards the girl.

"Aise maat ghuriye unko bhai" Aarav whispered into my ear.

(Don't stare at her like that, bro)

"Main aapne hone wali biwi ko dekh Raha hoon tujhe kya" I said but few seconds later, I  regret at  my words.

(I'm just looking at my future wife, what's it to you)

Ughh, Nikshant, control your tongue.

"Oh, brother, my future wife, hmm," Aarav teased me, and I glared at him.

"Waise Africa ke office mein kuch problem hai main socch raha hoon dev ki jagah tujhe wajah bhej doon" I said and the teasing smile on his face turned into nervous.

(By the way, there's some problem at the Africa office. I'm thinking of sending you there instead of Dev)

"Areh bhai kyun iss chhote se nanhe se jann ke picche pade ho" Aarav said with a hint of nervousness.

(Hey, why are you after this little guy)

"So, you've sealed your mouth shut," he said, putting his hand in front of his mouth and making a zipper-like gesture.

I shifted my focus to the girl who was sitting on the couch with grandma.

"What's your name, dear?" grandma asked.

"Aaravi Sachdeva," she said while looking down.

Nice name, just like her.

When Ahana and Aarav called her "bhabhi," her cheeks turned as red as cherries, and she lowered her gaze.

I smiled.

After grandma suggested that Aaravi and I should meet alone, I glanced at Aaravi, who still had her face down. I got up from the couch, and Aaravi also stood up and started walking ahead. I followed her, and she opened the door to a room and went inside. I followed her inside.

The room was light blue in color and beautifully decorated. She led me to the balcony, and as I looked around, I saw many flowers.

It was evident that she had a great fondness for flowers.

I sat down on a chair on the balcony.

I didn't know how to start the conversation.

All I wanted to say was that I didn't want to get married to her or anyone else.

Honestly, she looked so young.

There was an awkward silence here. Breaking the silence,

I asked, "What do you do?" because I wanted to know what she did.

But what she said next was unexpected for me.

"Mujhe yeh shaadi nahi karni please aap maana kar dijiye iss shaadi se"she said and rubbing her plams

( I don't want to get married, please say no to this marriage)

She rejected me.

She rejected Nikshant Roy Kapoor.

All the girls in the world can do anything just to catch a glimpse of me.

All girls can sacrifice themselves for a one-night stand with me and she rejected me to my face.

She hurt my ego.

Just thinking about all this was making me angry. I tightly closed my eyes and clenched my fists because I didn't want to get angry at her.

I just nodded and walked out of the room into the hall, and they were all looking at me with questions in their eyes.

I just nodded.

A big smile appeared on everyone's faces, and I noticed Aaravi also coming down.

"Urmila, bring sweets and make everyone eat," grandma said, and I looked at Aaravi, whose face was filled with confusion, but she quickly understood, and our eyes met and  tears welled up in her eyes. I quickly looked away from her.

"Yes, mother," Mrs. Sachdeva said and went to the kitchen to get the sweets.

"Wow, brother, I didn't think you'd say yes to marriage. Well, if the girl is like bhabi then anyone can say yes to marriage," Aarav whispered, and I glared at him and kicked him in the leg.

( Sister-in-law )

"Oucchh bhai laath kyun maara" Aarav whispered, yelling.

(Ouch, why did you kick me, brother)

"Aapna muh bandh kar warna next laath tere muh pe padega" I said.

(Shut your mouth or the next kick will land on your face)

"Aap itne nirdaay kaise ho sakte hai aap"he said

(How can you be so heartless)

"Tujh jaise logo ke liye nirdaay banna padhta hai"I said and I stood by Aaravi's side.

(People like you force me to be heartless)

" Kaisa laga aapko aaravi" I smirked

"Aapne kaha aap maana kar denge iss shaadi ko par aapne Aisa kyun kiya"she said looking into my eyes

(You said you would refuse this marriage but why did you do this)

"Ooh maine kabhi kaha main mana kar dunga iss shaadi se" I said and continued "par aisa kyun nahi Kiya Maine becauseee"I paused and again continued" mujhe aapse shaadi karna hai "

(Oh, did I ever say I would refuse this marriage. But why didn't I do that Becauseee I want to marry you.)

"Please abhi bhi aap iss shaadi ko maana kar sakte hai"she said and I closed my eyes in frustration

(Please, even now, you can still refuse this marriage)

"MAIN YEH SHAADI KARUNGA AGAR AAPKO SHAADI NAHI KARNA HAI TOH AAP MAANA KAR SAKTE HAI" I greeted my teeth

(I will marry if you don't want to, then you can refuse)

"If I could refuse, I wouldn't have told you," she said, and my attention shifted to grandma, who was whispering something in Mrs. Sachdeva's ear.

"Children, Urmila and I have decided to have their engagement today," I was shocked, but I composed myself.

I looked at Aaravi, whose face turned pale.

"I've also called the priest; he will be here shortly," grandma said. I didn't react to her.

After the priest arrived, grandma made Aaravi and me sit on the couch facing each other and gave us each a ring. I held Aaravi's hand.

"Pehna doon" I asked.

(Should I put it on)

" Agar maana kar dungi  toh nahi pehnaoge "she sarcastically said.

(If I don't say no, then you won't put it on, right)

Well, she's right; even if she didn't say no, I would still put it on.

Author pov:

Outside the city, in a dark room inside a house, a guy stood in front of a photo. The room was dimly lit.

"Hey babe, how are you?" the guy said and caressed the photo.

The photo was of a girl, but her face couldn't be seen in the darkness.

"I know, I know, you must be very good," the guy said, his voice sounding psychotic.

"By the way, it feels great talking to you after so long, but it would feel even better if you were in front of me. But never mind, you'll be mine soon," he said.

"You know, the one who was bothering you, I took care of him," he dangerously said, pointing towards a square-sized box.

"I've kept his heart very carefully because he said you're in his heart. That's why I've kept his heart with me very carefully," he calmly said, but his voice showed anger.

He stood in front of the square-sized box. There were four of them.

"I killed four of them  who wanted to take my love away from me and I kept their hearts safe because my love's place was in them," he said psychopathically.
