"ELLI, WAKE UP," she felt someone shake her and she rolled over to the opposite side, now motioning the person to go away.
"Mace, I didn't eat the last piece of cake," she sighed, going back to sleep. "Go away."
The person shook her again. "I'm not Mace, Elli. It's Five." Elli turned over to see Five in his pajamas.
"Go away," she turned back around. "Let me sleep."
"Wake up, Elli. Klaus told us to meet him in the kitchen. He has an announcement," he said as he shook her once more. Elli groaned as she took the comforter off her body. "I'll meet you downstairs," Five spacial jumped away as Ell began to stretch.
•••••
"Jesus. Who do I gotta kill to get a decent cup of coffee?" Five gave a face of disgust as Elli walked into the kitchen with a gray blanket wrapped around her shoulders.
"Can we get started?" Luther asked as he leaned on the palm of his hand. He looked really rough and exhausted.
"Anyone seen any of the others? Diego? Allison? No?" Klaus asked the others and recieved no response. "All right, then, this is the closest thing to a quorum—" he banged on the table with his spatchula causing Luther to groan. "that we're gonna get."
"Now, listening up. There's no easy way to say this, so I'm just gonna spit it out."
"This is a bad idea," Ben sighed, sitting on the right side of Klaus.
"Yeah," Klaus sighed along with him.
"Klaus," Five snapped.
"I conjured Dad last night," he blurted out as Five and Luther gave him looks.
Elli was confused. She didn't know their powers as well as the others did, so she was now just figuring this out.
"You said you haven't been able to conjure anyone in years," Luther gave a look.
"Ah, yes, I know, but I'm sober. Ta-da! I got clean, yesterday," Elli clapped her hands silently as a congrats. "to talk to someone special, and then ended up having this. . . conversation with dear old Daddy himself," Klaus sighed.
"Has anyone got some aspirin?" asked Luther.
"Top shelf, next to the crackers," directed Five.
"We have crackers?" Elli gave a confused look as she started to peel her orange as Five nodded.
"Hey, hey, hey. This is serious, guys, all right?" Luther sighs as he listens to his brother. "This really happened, I swear."
"Okay, fine. I'll play," Five gave a tight lipped smile as he crossed one leg over another. "What did the old man have to say?"
'Well, he gave me the usual lecture about
my appearance and my failures in life. Yada yada yada," he began to blab. "No surprise there. Even the afterlife couldn't soften a hardass like Dad, right? But he did mention something about his murder, or lack thereof, because. . ."
"Wait for it," Ben put a finger up.
"He killed himself," Klaus looked down.
"I don't have time for your games, Klaus," Luther put a hand down.
"I'm telling you the truth, Luther. I'm telling you the truth."
"Why'd he do it, then?" Five queried.
"He said it was the only way to get us all home again."
"No. Dad wouldn't just kill himself," Luther denied.
"Ah, you said it yourself. He was depressed. Holed up in his office and room all day and night," spoke Five.
"No. There weren't any signs. Suicidal people exhibit certain tendencies, strange behaviors."
"Like sending someone to the Moon for no reason?" Klaus asked as Elli nodded in agreement, handing Five an orange slice.
"I swear to God, Klaus, if you're lying—"
"I'm not. I'm not," he put hands up in defense.
"Master Klaus is correct," Pogo walked in. "Regretfully," he sighs. "I helped Master Hargreeves enact his plan."
"What?" Luther questioned.
"So did Grace. It was a difficult choice for both of us. More difficult than you could ever know. Prior to your father's death, Grace's programming was adjusted so that she was incapable of administering first aid on that fateful night."
"Sick bastard," Five turned back around, holding his hand out to Elli who gave him yet another orange slice.
"So the security tape we saw?" Luther pondered.
"It was meant to further the murder mystery. Your father hoped that being back here, solving it together. . . would reignite your desire
to be a team again."
"And to what end?" Five threw another question.
"To save the world, of course," Pogo said, resting his hands on his cane.
Klaus laughs. "All right."
"First the Moon mission and now this. You watched me search for answers and said nothing. Anything else you want to share, Pogo? Any other damn secrets?" Luther stands up.
"Hey, calm down, Luther," Klaus and Elli say.
"No, I won't calm down," he looked towards the two. "We've been lied to by the one person in this family we all trusted."
'It was your father's dying wish,
Master Luther. I—" Pogo sighs. "I had no choice."
"There's always choice," Luther hissed then exited the room as Klau sighed and Pogo exited next.
Five started to rubbed his head as million of thoughts ran by him. "You okay?" Elli asked as Five sighed.
"I gotta think," he spacial jumped away.
"Well, I guess that's a no," Elli shrugged and place the last slice of her orange in her mouth before going upstairs.
•••••
Elli watched as Klaus tangled himself in knitting strings. She had no idea where, when or how he got those, but it was interesting to see if he was going to make something.
Elli was in another outfit from Allison's closet that consisted a dark green and blue stripped sweater with blue washed jeans. She went ahead and wore the same shoes as the day before and put on a necklace she found laying around in her room.
As she continued read the book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass for the third time Five knocked on the door then walked into the room now fully dressed.
"Hey. Get up. We're going."
"Where?" Elli and Klaus asked.
"To save the world," he nodded.
"Now?" Elli gave an annoyed look. "I'm almost finished with this chapter.
"Get a bookmark and read it later," Five waved off.
"Oh, is that all? Great," Klaus put down the knitting needles and leaned off his bed, started to get dressed.
"So," Five began to pace. "Pogo said Dad killed himself to get us all back together, right?
"Yeah, so?" Klaus asked as Elli began to read again, but still listened to their conversation.
"So it got me thinking. I had to jump to the future to figure out when it happened, but Dad, he can't time travel. So how'd the crazy bastard actually know to kill himself a week before the end of the world?"
"Well, you know—" Klaus initited.
"Don't answer. That was purely rhetorical," Five cut him off leading Klaus to give him a look that made Elli chuckle quietly.
"Truth is, our whole lives he's been telling us
we'd save the world from an impending apocalypse."
"Yeah, but I always thought he just said that to scare us into doing the dishes," Klaus pulled on his shoes.
"Me too," Five turned around to look at his brother. "But what if the old man really knew it was going to happen?"
"Yeah, but knew how?" Klaus asked.
"No idea. But the fact remains, his fakakta plan worked. We all came home," he then gestured to Elli. "Or were already home. Well, we're here, we might as well save the world."
"Oh yeah? What, like, the two of us?" Klaus asked, leaving out Elli.
"Hey!" Elli wacked him viciously on the arm causing him to rub the spot.
"I meant the three of us," Klaus corrected and Eli smiled sweetly.
"Uh, well, ideally, no, but gotta work with what I've got." They all made their way into the hallway and Diego suddenly ran by, heading into his room. "Where have you been?" Five looked at him weirdly.
"Jail," he saw Elli, Klaus and Fives confused faces. "Long story. Where's Luther?"
"Haven't seen him since breakfast," Five spoke.
"Yeah. Two days until the world ends, he picks a great time to drop off the grid," Klaus chuckled as he patted Elli's head softly.
"Shit," exhaled Diego as he placed serveral knives into his belt. "Allison is in danger," he ran towards the stairs leaving the three concerned and confused.
"So, do we follow him or. . ." Elli pointed towards where Diego left and Five nodded slowly, starting the train line.
•••••
"Look," Klaus pointed to Luther who was sulking in at a table with a beer pug in his hand. They arrived at a bar that Klaus suggested he would be at. "Trying a little hair of the dog, are we? Hm?" Klaus hummed as they all were were close to him.
"Leave me alone," grumbled Luther.
"Give us a minute," Diego looked at the three other.
"Okay. Come on, young ones. Maybe they'll brood each other to death," Klaus led Elli and Five away from the two and stood next to the door.
As they were bored leaning against the wall, Elli pulled out a homemade fortune teller she made one day during arts and crafts with Grace.
"Pick a color," she showed it to Five who looked at the colors that ranged from pink, orange, aquamarine and purple.
"Hmm," he crossed his arms and looked towards her. "Aquamarine," he sighed and Elli began spelling out the word as she moved her fingers.
"A-q-u-a-m-a-r-i-n-e. Okay, now pick a number," she showed him the numbers that ranged from twelve to fifteen.
"Okay, then twelve." Elli moved her fingers the equal amount of times.
"Okay, now pick a place or number," she showed him once again with the numbers of twelve and fifteen—and the places of Brooklyn and France.
"Brooklyn." she started to move her hands. "Been there once for work, ya know," Five told her as she spelt out the word.
"Really? That's cool. That's where I was born," she smiled as she landed on the last assortment of choices. "Okay, now pick a place," she showed Five the place choices. They were Brooklyn, Los Angeles, France and Barcelona.
"France," he spoke and Elli picked up the flap.
"You should've told them sooner. Because when it's too late, you'll regret it," she read over the words and Five gave a shocked look.
"Did you really write that?" he looked over at the words and Elli nodded.
"Yeah, but, I didn't get the ideas. Mace gave them to me. And remember, fortune tellers never ever lie." Five nodded at her answer as he saw Luther stand up his spot and move towards the door.
"Come on, let's go," he hurried after as she followed.
•••••
"Hey. Can you go any faster?" Luther peaked his head over the seat as they were all piled in the car now heading to where Allison was at.
Klaus was sat next to Elli, who was in the middle of him and Five, playing with the fortune teller she had made. Luther and Diego were in the backseat, but Luther was taking up most of the room with his body.
"Ask me again, and I'll burn you with a cigarette lighter," Five said as Luther leaned back in his seat.
Elli snorted leading Five to look at her. "You drive like my grandfather. Though, he did drive a bit faster than you—"
"Hush," Five shushed her then sped up the car inducing Klaus to now chuckle.
Once they arrived at the location Allison was at, they opened the door to the cabin to see Allison on the floor, covered with blood as her throat had been slit.
"Allison! No!" Luther shouted as he ran in. He dropped to his knees and cradled her head.
"Allison," Five whispered to himself as he saw his s sister on the ground.
"Oh, my god. Allison," Klaus gasped as he ran in.
Elli and Diego just stood there shocked to say anything or even move. The sight of blood was causing Elli's head to spin. "Excuse me," she pushed Diego and Five to the side to leave the house.
She moved back onto the gravel driveway and held her head as she kept seeing flashing lights and splatters of blood. She looked down at her hands to see her mother's blood and started to wipe her hands on her clothing.
"We need to get her home. Now," Diego directed as he went over to pick up Allison along with Luther.
They ran down the steps and started to pile her into the car. As they were about to leave, Diego looked to the side to see Elli muttering to herself, wiping her hands on her clothing like she had an infectious touch in her hands.
"Diego, come on," Luther hurried.
Diego rushed to where Allison laid and searched her pockets taking out the car keys. "You guys head home. I'll meet you there." Five nodded and started to move down the gravel drive way.
Diego moved slowly moved towards Elli who was still muttering to herself. "Elli, you okay?" he tapped her shoulder.
"Oh, my gosh. You scared me," she jumped around and stopped rubbing her arms on her clothing.
"Are you okay? You look really spooked," Diego wrapped an arm around her and led her to Allison's car.
"No, yeah I'm fine," she sat down and slid towards the passenger as Diego fit in and got situated in the driver seat then gave her a look. "What? I am?"
Diego sighed and started the car. "You're not a good liar."
"So I've been told," she sighed as he began to drive. "It's just the blood that brought back some flashbacks. I couldn't be in there. My head started to spin and I started seeing blood on my hands again and I need to get it off and. . . Now, I don't know."
"Why don't you start from the beginning and tell me everything. I mean, we're friends. That's what friends do," Diego smiled to her and received one back.
"Okay. I can go with that," she nodded and started explaining.
