Opening my eyes to something new felt strange. The first thing I saw was a small fox standing in front of me. He looked adorable with his fluffy tails spinning behind him, a big grin on his face.

"Hello!" I said softly, my voice feeling new and unfamiliar.

"Hi! Welcome to the team, Y/n!" he said, sounding proud.

"Y/n is my name?" I asked, tilting my head.

He nodded quickly. "Yep! I gave you that name."

"Wait... do you know my name already?" he asked me.

"No, I don't" I said, confused.

"Well, my name's Tails! Let me just program it into your brain or head or... something like that" he said, turning to type on a nearby computer.

Suddenly, the name "Tails" popped into my mind like it had always been there. It felt strange, but I didn't question it. I noticed a mirror nearby and walked toward it. My reflection caught my eye for the first time.

I looked just like him a fox but my fur was a mix of f/c with tips of blue at the ends of my hair. I had a shiny star-shaped hairpin sitting neatly in my hair.

"Wait, can you pick this up?" Tails asked, pointing to a heavy object on the floor.

I bent down and lifted it with ease.

"Ah, it worked!" he said, clapping his hands. "The tips of blue from Sonic, the hairpin from Amy, and the strength from Knuckles! And of course, being a fox comes from me!" His smile was so bright it made me smile too.

"Oh yeah! I'll introduce you to the rest later at the big party!" Tails said, already buzzing with excitement.

"Question, Tails?" I asked, tilting my head.

"Mhm?" he replied while fiddling with the computer.

"Are you my creator?"

"Yes, I am! But just call me your younger brother it sounds better that way" he said with a laugh.

I laughed too. "It does sound better."

Tails grabbed me and flew us to the party he'd mentioned earlier. I couldn't help but admire the world around me. The trees, the sky, even the way the wind felt against my fur, it was all so new and exciting.

"You'll get used to this!" Tails said cheerfully as he flew, and I smiled back at him.

When we landed, Tails started leading me toward his friends. As we got closer, I noticed they were staring at me. One of them, a blue hedgehog, spoke up first.

"Tails, you actually built her? But she doesn't even look like a robot" he said, sounding impressed but confused.

The pink hedgehog next to him stepped forward and stared at my hair. "Hey, that's my hairpin!" she said, reaching for it.

I stepped back, stopping her. "Don't touch" I said, my tone firm as I stared at her.

"Hey, she's got tips of blue in her hair" the blue hedgehog added, leaning in closer to look.

"Oh yeah, about that!" Tails said, rubbing the back of his neck. "I kinda... borrowed your quill, Amy's hairpin, and Knuckles' strength. Pretty cool, huh?" He smiled proudly, but his friends didn't look too impressed.

"Hey! Show some respect" I said, stepping up to defend Tails.

The red echidna folded his arms and frowned. "I like that she's strong, but she's not here to cause trouble, is she?"

"Nope! Not at all. I'm here to help—or accompany you" I said with a smile.

The blue hedgehog laughed and said, "Shadow needs that."

"Do not." another voice said, deeper and sharper than the others. I turned and saw a black hedgehog with red stripes walking toward us. He looked serious, his eyes narrowing as he glanced at me.

"You do look like you need it, though" I said, smiling at him.

He glared at me, his expression hard and unreadable. Before I could say more, Tails grabbed my arm.

"Okay, let's go, Y/n. I'll explain more later" Tails said quickly, pulling me away from the group.

After a while, Tails told me to head back to the workshop on my own. I nodded and started walking, but soon realized I had no idea where to go. Everything around me looked the same, and I felt completely lost.

As I wandered through the unfamiliar forest, I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was following me. I glanced over my shoulder and caught a glimpse of the black hedgehog from earlier. He wasn't trying to hide.

I stopped and turned to face him. "Are you following me?" I asked, my voice steady.

He didn't answer, just stared at me with that same intense glare.

"Fine, don't answer" I said with a shrug, turning back around. "But if you're going to follow me, at least help me find the workshop."

I heard him sigh behind me, and soon, I felt his presence closer as he began walking beside me.
