— chapter 5 —

kiss in the rain.

"hey y/n what are you doing here?!" kaori, one of fukurodani's managers had asked the girl as she entered the gym after school.

"just thought i would watch the boys practice today while i do some work. my mom is out late tonight so i don't really want to stay alone," she smiled warmly at the girl.

"hmm watch the boys practice or just a boy?" a small smirk played on the managers lips to which y/n couldn't help but fluster up at.

yes y/n did enjoy watching the entire team but her eyes were always set on the pretty setter.

"i'm just teasing you!" kaori nudged her playfully, "but you can sit beside me and help out if you'd like. yukie-san is sick so she couldn't make it today."

at her words y/n's eyes perked up as she was happy that she gave her the opportunity to help out.

"that would be great!"

with that the third year placed her bag beside kaori's who's was at the side of the bench before helping her out with manager duties.

to which consisted of filling up water bottles, getting out the equipment and such.

"could you roll up the net y/n?" she called the girl from the other end of the court on the step stool.

"gotcha!" she gave kaori a thumbs up in response before getting up slowly on the stool using all her strength to twist the net up.

once the two were satisfied with their work y/n slowly moved down the stool which was quite high. of course her clumsy self had stumbled on one of the steps preparing for the hard fall as she couldn't bring herself up.

but that did not happen as she was caught in a warm embrace opening her eyes slowly to see those familiar blue eyes.

"you can be such a clutz sometimes y/n," akaashi mumbled as he sighed at her truly concerned for her clumsiness.

"i'm not a clutz i just missed a step! the stool is wobbly after all!" she exclaimed pouting at the boy who only gave her a deadpanned look as he knew that he was right before setting her down gently.

"you alright y/n?!" kaori ran towards the two looking at y/n for any signs of injury.

"i'm good thanks to keiji," she laughed rubbing the nape of her neck in embarrassment.

"hey hey hey kaori could you help with bringing the balls out!"bokuto called out to the girl who only gave the couple one last smile before jogging towards the owl haired boy.

"so how come you're here today? i thought you had homework to do," akaashi asked giving his full attention to y/n as curiosity loomed over him.

"i do but my mom is out late tonight so i would rather stay here then alone. but also kaori offered for me to help with manager duties since yukie-san isn't here."

"so don't mess up just because i'm here. i know i can be a distraction," she teased akaashi who only raised his eyebrow questionably.

"i mean you're not wrong but i always play great when you're here sweetheart," he ruffled her hair playfully before jogging towards his teammates who were watching the interaction between the two, grins on their faces.

"damn you keiji for always making me flustered," y/n grumbled as she turned around so no one would see her.

as practice began y/n kept her focus on everyone at all times, a glint of admiration in her eyes amazed at how well the team worked together.

'no wonder they're a top team in the nation' she thought to herself unable to look away.

of course this didn't go unnoticed by akaashi as he could only admire her astonished glancing her way every so often.

in a few of those moments the two would both lock eyes with each other giving one another a gentle smile or y/n would playfully blow a kiss his way.

"man i wish i could be in love," the ace had muttered as he looked at akaashi to which he looked back at his friend giving him a deadpanned look.

as practice had rolled to an end everyone in the gym began cleaning up as they conversed with one another.

cleaning up the balls on the gym floor she had noticed one right behind her boyfriend who's attention was on also picking up a volleyball.

with the sudden idea in her head she tossed the ball directly towards him hitting the boy directly in the head.

y/n couldn't suppress her laughter as she watched keiji slowly turn around looking around the gym till he locked eyes with her.

his sudden expressionless look had quickly turned into a smirk the laughing girl instantly going stiff.

"k-keiji why do you have that expression on your face," y/n stuttered as he began moving towards her the girl moving back in response.

"i recommend you run y/n," he muttered to which she squealed nervously as she jolted towards the exit akaashi's chasing after her.

"oi! you two are not done cleaning u—"

"it's alright coach i got it. let them enjoy their cute moment," bokuto and kaori said in unison admiring the wholesome couple.

as the two were happy of the cute moment y/n was truthfully terrified as she continued to run down the halls hearing the footsteps of her boyfriend behind her.

approaching the dead end, she had noticed that her only means of escape was through the front doors to which it was pouring outside.

"eh better than getting caught," she muttered before opening the doors and stupidly running into the rain.

akaashi on the other hand was only a few meters behind y/n noticing that she had gone outside when it was clearly raining.

he slowed down sighing quietly as he opened the door the sound of the rain filling his ears.

"y/n what are you doing it's pouring outside and you're going to get sick!" the setter yelled as the noise of the water was blocking out his voice slightly.

"haha no way babe! it's not that bad anyways," she shouted back skipping around in the rain playfully. "come out here!"

the setter only gave her a weird look in response at her absurd statement as he stood only a few feet away from her.

"no."

"why not!" y/n whined as she gave the boy puppy dog eyes.

oh how he her alluring cute face had almost convinced him. "y/n c'mon just come out of the rain befo—"

"ouch!" akaashi had cut himself off from the voice of his girlfriend who now held a pained expression holding onto her ankle.

out of instinct he rushed towards her scooping y/n in his arms.

"what happened y/n?! are you okay?" he looked down at her worriedly as her face was still staring at her foot in pain.

slowly the girl looked up at him a big smile on her face.

"you faked it huh," akaashi muttered to which she only giggled in response.

"sorry keiji i had to get you out here somehow," her laughter only got louder before glancing up at the sky in admiration.

"isn't it relaxing? the noise of the rain, the dark sky with the stars lighting up the sky. it's gorgeous," y/n beamed staring at the beautifully lit up sky before looking back down as she felt akaashi's gave still fixated on her.

"yeah it is beautiful," he mumbled lifting one his hands that were now wrapped around her waist to put a strand of her h/c hair behind her ear.

with that he pulled the girl closer locking his wet lips with hers.

the satisfying noise of the rain, the warmth radiated off of one another body, the lite up sky, it was perfect.

as the two enjoyed each others embrace y/n couldn't help but smile even wider as she deepened the kiss.

little did the setter know that it was on her bucket list after all.

as cheesy as it sounded it was to kiss the one she loved most in the rain and enjoy each others company.
