— chapter 4 —

2am convenience store adventures.

the setter had been studying all night to finish up his homework as volleyball practice had run late.

the boy had barely a single thing to eat as once he came home he immediately got to work which is part of the reason his energy was now drained.

as akaashi was about to change into his pyjamas a sudden noise coming from his window caught his attention.

he cautiously walked towards it the noise getting louder as he got closer.

opening the blinds slowly his eyes met up with a dark figure jumping up and down waving their hands frantically.

usually others would think that it was some lunatic trying to bother others but of course it was his lunatic.

his phone then began ringing to which he grabbed it answering the call quickly as he continued to stare at the person outside his window.

"you're the person outside aren't you?"

"heh y-yup!" his girlfriend exclaimed on the other end as she shivered slightly from the gust of wind that just hit her.

"why are you here and not only may i add with no jacket and alone at 2am?!" akaashi's mother instinct kicked in as he moved back to grab a hoodie from his closet.

"aww mom keiji you're too sweet!"

the setter only rolled his eyes in annoyance as he hung up the phone before quietly walking down the stairs to not wake his parents up.

slowly opening then closing the door the boy walked towards his girlfriend who's eyes were still trained on his bedroom window her body shaking slightly.

looking at her small figure the boy couldn't help but notice that she had lost a bit of weight.

yes the girl had the metabolism of a 17 year old boy so it was a surprise to him to see her a bit frailer than usual.

'did this have to do with her sickness?' he thought to himself as he draped his hoodie over y/n scaring her as she jumped in fear.

"ah keiji you scared me!" y/n exclaimed as she eyes the hoodie before happily putting it over her head.

"now i love that i can see you but why are you here and at 2 am?"

"i want to go to the convenience store!" y/n smiled to which akaashi only furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"you want to go to a convenience store this late at night?"

"yup! it's apart of my bucket list to go sneak out late at night," she beamed as she looked at the setter till noticing his tired expression. "but you don't have to go with me! i'll just go by myse—"

"oh no i'm not allowing that baka," akaashi stopped the girl as he intertwined his hands with hers dragging the girl towards the main streets.

y/n only laughed at the sternness in her boyfriends tone as he tightly held onto her in the lit up streets.

"to be honest i'm surprised you were awake keiji," y/n spoke up truly surprised as he was never one to stay awake this late.

"yeah i am too. practice ended later than usual so i had to finish school work," at that akaashi let out a small yawn y/n immediately feeling bad for dragging the boy with her.

"ahh i'm sorry keiji! you look really tired, we can just go back if you want," y/n pulled his arm in the direction they came from but he only pulled her back.

"love it's completely fine. i haven't eaten anyways so I can get something there," he told her kissing her cheek in reassurance.

y/n's concerned look turned into a more gentle one as she heard the truthful tone in keiji's voice.

finally arriving at the convenience store y/n excitedly grabbed a basket skipping through the isle's as she admired all the items.

akaashi following closely behind smiled at how happy y/n was making his heart flutter even more.

"ooo let's get ongri!" she exclaimed her eyes on the rice balls as she began putting many in the basket.

the girl was then quick to spot a rack of sweets quickly running over as if she had just drank 3 shots of espresso.

but before the setter could stop the girl from going overboard he couldn't help but not as he saw the excited she looked.

the way her h/c locks were perfectly placed on her shoulder. her perfect smile being shown as she happily put candy in the basket. his oversized hoodie that draped past her hips making it look like a dress.

she looked perfect to him and that's all he could think.

"keiji look they have a slushy machine too!" the voice of his girlfriend broke him out of his thoughts as he saw her pointing at the machine.

slowly walking up to her y/n couldn't help but raise her eyebrow slightly as to what the boy was thinking as he had an odd look in his eyes.

"what are your thinking in there?" y/n playfully poked his temple a smile on her lips.

"just how beautiful you look."

at akaashi's words her face had completely heated up to which she tried to cover quickly with her hands.

"ugh keiji you always know the perfect words to say huh."

at her attempts to cover her face the boy quickly grabbed her hands holding it in his before leaning in to plant a small kiss on her forehead.

"i'm only telling the truth y/n," he mumbled before turning to the machine. "now usually i would be against all of this at 2am but then again it wouldn't be a fun late night adventure would it?"

"ahh yes fun keiji is here!" y/n beamed as she grabbed a cup starting to fill it with the cold drink.

"oi what does that mean? i'm always fun," he raised his eyebrow at her questioningly.

"babe of course you're fun but you know that you can be quite a mom sometimes. so i'm just happy that mom keiji is gone right now is all."

the raven haired boy only let out a sigh in response shaking his head as he knew that she was right.

he did wear the pants in the relationship after all.

"oh you two are so cute! when are you two going to get married huh?" The cashier had teased the two as she checked out their items.

y/n flushed even more than before at her words laughing in embarrassment. "oh miss we're still very yo—"

"sooner or later," keiji cut her off ruffling his girlfriends hair playfully to which the cashier only admired.

"keijiii," y/n whined at how blunt he could be to which he only chuckled lowly in response.

after paying for their items akaashi grabbed the bags in one hand, his girlfriends hand in the other as they exited the dimly lit building.

the couple enjoyed a comfortable silence as they walked back towards her house but at a much slower pace than usually.

"did you really mean what you said back there?" y/n quietly spoke up catching the setters attention instantly as she wasn't one to talk quietly unless nervous.

"what do you mean?" he had teased her knowing exactly what she was talking about but enjoyed seeing her all shy as it was adorable to him.

"t-the p-part about marrying me."

even with the words coming out of y/n's the thought of akaashi saying such a thing so bluntely made her only think that he was just joking around with the cashier.

i mean yes they have been together for almost three years and he had always teased her about marriage and such, but she had never heard the words come directly out of his mouth before.

even with the little time she had left with him she had doubted his words because of so.

"of course i do princess, and i'll say it many times till it gets engraved in your mind."

y/n's eyes widened at keiji's words looking at him to already see the boy staring back at her.

"i'll forever plan on marrying you someday in the future."

never had anything so truthful come out of akaashi's mouth to which she only smiled at him in response a small tear cascading down her cheek.

even with her circumstances, he would still never leave her and planned on marrying her sooner or later.
