jay and sunoo have been roommates since the start of the first semester of their second year at yonsei.

sunoo didn't want to live alone in his apartment, and jay was looking for a place to stay. plus, they were already friends since they were freshmen.

it was the perfect set-up. it was, not until jay started noticing sunoo's habit.

at first glance, sunoo would be the person that people would automatically like and be friends with. he's approachable, kind, he's always smiling. people would think that he didn't have any problem to deal with.

sunoo wasn't the type of person to ask for anyone's help. he hates it, being seen as vulnerable and weak.

but everytime the clock strikes at 2 am, he becomes exactly what he hates to be.

just like every other night, jay wakes up at 2 am to check on sunoo. he softly knocks at his door and waits for the boy to answer him.

"sunoo?"

jay went closer, then he finally hears it. the sound of someone crying.

it was as if sunoo was trying not to make a loud noise, because it was always like this. his cries are soft- making sure that his roommate wouldn't hear him.

as his roommate, i never tried to ask him what's the reason. but i knew. i always knew.

"hmm? do you need something?" sunoo answered, his voice feels weak. if i didn't hear his cries, i would assume that he's just tired.

"don't stay up late. please, rest. okay?" jay stepped backwards and slowly went back to his room.

comforting him would only make him feel worse. so i just give him his space- and wait until he finally gets to sleep.

"i'm here, hyung."

sunoo stopped fiddling with his phone when he felt an arm around his shoulder. he also smelled the familiar scent, so he immediately knew who it was.

"so that's why you didn't reply," he puts his phone back inside his pocket. "why are you here?"

riki instinctively takes sunoo's folder, carrying it. "i was about to grab coffee here too. did you order yet?"

sunoo nods, "i'm just waiting. is your dorm near the uni?"

"yeah, only a few minutes away so it's convenient to just walk." riki follows sunoo as the older takes their coffee, holding the two cups on his hands.

"your foot seems fine now." ni-ki noticed while they walk inside the university.

"yep, it's been only two days but it doesn't hurt that much now. though i still can't run and do strenuous activities."

he hands the drink out, to which the younger quickly accepts. "thanks, hyung."

they walked for a few minutes, and ni-ki noticed that sunoo doesn't drink the coffee that he's holding. that's weird. i thought he likes coffee.

"hyung, aren't you drinking that? it's going to be cold."

sunoo shakes his head at him. "nah, i'm skipping coffee today. or else jay will throw away my coffee beans if he finds out."

"oh, okay." riki chuckled. he's actually glad that sunoo's talking to him without any hint of discomfort now. atleast he's treating me as his friend.

"then... who are you giving that for?"

"this?" sunoo grinned, while looking at somewhere else. "it's for that zombie guy over there."

when ni-ki turned his head, somehow- at the back of his mind, he tried to guess who it is.

and he guessed it right.

"you should've texted me beforehand," heeseung was panting a little, his forehead is also sweating as he walks towards them. "why would you walk this far? i could've just went to get you, sun."

sunoo pouted. "it's fine, the coffee shop's just outside so i didn't walk that far." he hands out the coffee from his hand. "here, your coffee."

heeseung gives him a light pat on his head before taking the drink. "thanks, sun. how's your foot?"

"good! don't worry about me."

heeseung laughs at sunoo's statement before glancing at riki's direction and nodded slightly.

he finally noticed me huh. i thought he was just straight up ignoring my presence. though ni-ki wasn't expecting him to be friendly, because it was written on his face that he doesn't wanna talk to people.

even his cousin is having a hard time dealing with heeseung. but to sunoo, he's suddenly acting like he's tamed or something.

"don't forget to take care of yourself, okay? look at you," heeseung went closer to fix sunoo's hair and straighten the collar of his shirt, while the latter is just letting him do what he wants.

riki couldn't help but feel a tinge of jealousy. i know they're friends, but... does he really have to do things like that? in front of me?

"anyways, we have to go to the headquarters now. i'll just see you later, hyung."

"see you later, sun."

sunoo smiles as he steps backwards while waving his hand to heeseung. he then starts to walk towards the opposite direction, riki following close behind him.
