"poor sunoo, i hope he's gonna be alright," jake sighs while walking back to the field. heeseung is following behind him, arms at the side of the pockets of his pants.

"that must've hurt a lot though. the last time i got a sprain i haven't walked properly for a week.... i heard he didn't even want to participate, so why did he-"

"because he doesn't like quitting halfway, he's not a coward." heeseung's voice seemed to echo inside jake's mind.

he bit the inside of his cheek. "right...well, do you want to watch another game?"

the older did not answer.

he's been like this since earlier. i thought we got closer when he agreed to hang out with me today.

i guess i was wrong.

"i need to go, i still have something to do. bye," heeseung gave him a light tap on his shoulder and quickly ran off towards the opposite direction, leaving jake completely alone.

there are times where sunoo thinks he's fooling himself.

all the times where he smiles at people and accepts the favors that they ask him to do- it's all an act.

an act, in hopes of trying to forget him.

sunoo chuckled bitterly. acting like we're still fine as friends, that's bullshit. he tried moving his foot but the pain shoots through.

"sunoo hyung, the doctor said you can't move your foot yet." riki held his arm to make him stop.

he looked at the freshman who brought him to the clinic. it still didn't sink in that he cried like an idiot in front of a boy who made it obvious that he likes him. gods, that's such a dumbass thing to do, sunoo.

"hey," he shifted on the bed, adjusting his foot to rest on the edge. riki is sitting at one of the stools at the corner of the room.

"thank you for helping me. uh, and i'm sorry." sunoo tries to form a decent sentence. "it's just...i was really devastated earlier, about what happened in the competition that's why i-"

"hyung, you don't have to explain. i get it." ni-ki gives him an assuring smile.

you get what exactly? that i saw him together with another guy and that's the reason why i was crying like hell? i'm sure you don't know that.

"but hyung, i hope you know that seeing you cry like that is harder for me." riki looked straight to sunoo's eyes. "it hurts me too."

sunoo blinks, avoiding his gaze while feeling awkward all of a sudden. there was a moment of silence before the door opened, revealing sunghoon and jay.

thank goodness.

"i brought you food," sunghoon glanced at riki before sitting on the side of sunoo's bed. "thanks for taking care of him."

ni-ki just nodded. jay walked towards him and ruffles his hair. "yeah bro, you're a good kid. though not good enough for sun-"

"i might have a sprain but that won't stop me from kicking your ass, jay." sunoo warned his friend. he looks at sunghoon who is busy peeling some tangerines.

"where's heeseung hyung?" he heard jay groaned but didn't answer.

sunghoon gestured sunoo to open his mouth as he feeds him the tangerine. "don't know, hopefully he's dead somewhere."

"that's a very rude thing to say, hoon." he chews the food and grabs his phone. "is he with jake? they look good together."

the other looks at him with a blank face.

"what? am i wrong?" sunoo looks at riki, "your cousin looks cute beside heeseung right?"

ni-ki was about to answer but jay was fast enough to cover his mouth. "no, don't answer that. keep your mouth shut if you want to live."

jay continues to push ni-ki towards the door while the freshman keeps struggling to be free from him.

"times up, you can leave now. thank you for helping sunoo. bye!"

"wait what? but i-" riki was trying to push the door open from the opposite side.

sunghoon glanced at him. "jungwon's been looking for you. he's at the oval, go take photos of the program there. that's your task."

"thank you riki, i owe you one." sunoo stares at him before the door got shut in front of his face.

ni-ki didn't have a choice but to leave. those two keep acting like sunoo hyung's bodyguards or something.

"look at him sleeping comfortably on your back," jay chuckled as he takes another photo of sunoo while sunghoon continues to carry him on his back.

sunghoon actually didn't want to do it, but he lost on rock paper scissors with jay so he had no choice but to give the boy a piggyback ride.

sunoo mumbled incoherent words while nuzzling his head on sunghoon's neck and wrapping his arms tighter around sunghoon's shoulders.

"you're gonna wake him up, stop that." jay shuts his mouth as they continued walking towards the parking lot.

this day was a disaster. a part of sunghoon wants to blame himself because he was the one who forced sunoo to join the sprint race.

while another part of him wants to blame someone else.

he sighed and held sunoo tighter, being careful to not drop him.

"how is he these days?" sunghoon asked, pertaining to sunoo.

jay shrugged. "he's been doing great lately that i thought he's finally okay, but seeing him earlier...." his voice trailed off as he brushed the strands of hair that fell on sunoo's face.

sunghoon didn't respond. covering up his feelings just so he wouldn't destroy this friendship is a stupid thing to do.

little did he know that it's already been crumbling.
