How could words be so cruel?

you stood there dumbfounded, locking eyes with the ground

" [y/n] I actually got back with them" Jean smiled to himself

You crack a smile, " oh is that so? that's great news! how did this all happen" you smiled, heavily fidgeting  with your hands

" we talked it over and got back together" Jean said, his eyes glittering

" well in that case, you better pay more attention to them now that you are back together or else I will kill you" you pulled the gesture

Jean chuckled at your motion, " thank you [y/n], that's great advice" he smiled

You nodded and there returned silence

" wow is it getting hot in here! oh and look at the time I have to go home Jean, I will see you later!" you quickly stood up

" already? its not even late yet" Jean answered, confused

" well its just I have work to catch up on" you smiled and waved

Jean nodded and waved as you walked away

After you exited the door you sighed and walked out to the bus stop

As you walked you ruffled your hair in frustration and kneeled down after you reached the bus station

You stared at the ground for a while that was until what seemed to be rain fell to the ground

However those raindrops were never rain, they were your tears, you must of held the pain in for so long

Either way, you wiped your tears and stood up, breathing heavily, how silly of you, was all you thought, crying in the middle of the street, how much pity.

Through sniffling, you grabbed a tissue from your bag and wiped your tears that was until someone knocked onto you

You stumbled back and looked at the figure, to tired to be frustrated

" sorry." was all they mumbled

" its okay" you said as you stared at them, finally.

You were stunned at what you saw, those eyes you saw, why did they seem so familiar?

" Levi..?" you mumbled, afraid of mistaking them

" [y/n]?" he answered back

You cough and quickly adjust your hair and face, " what are you doing here?" you chuckled

" I was taking a stroll...its been a while" Levi awkwardly made out

" yeah it has" you said looking around

There was silence as you both stared at the ground, you occasionally taking glances

" you seem like you have somewhere to be " you gesture looked at his well-dressed clothes

" yeah, I actually own a company" Levi blurted out, his voice soft

" really? wow congratulations! i always knew you were smart" you cheerfully cheered

" yeah" Levi said dryly

" ...well what company do you own?" you asked, trying to keep a conversation

" [company/name]" Levi said making you scream internally

" YOUR THE CEO OF MY COMPANY!?!?" you yelled to which Levi covered his ears

" shut it you're so loud" he said, his ears exploding

" my bad, but I actually work there" you said, feeling embarrassed

" hmph it's alright, but that's quite the coincidence..." Levi stared at you

" well is that why you were taking a walk, to clear your mind?" you asked to which Levi shook his head

" no it wasn't, it was more than that" he said, frustration clearly evident in his tone

" what happened?" you asked curiously

" well you know my pushover uncle Kenny, his trying to set me up with people when things had been so stressful" Levi cursed

" oh. i'm sorry about that" you said softly

" don't be I'll just hire someone to be with me...like fake dating" Levi said clearly trying to get rid of the situation

" i hope you find the right person" you said, needing to go back home

Levi looked at you and faked a cough,  " although you are here now, why don't you...go on a fake date with me" Levi said, coughing excessively

" me?? we just met after many years and-"

" but you liked me before no? although that's what i heard" Levi crossed his arms

you glared at him, trying not to admit it

" ... I-"

"then why don't you" Levi rose a brow, his face turning serious

You faked a smiled, " I'll think about it, after all, we just met" you said trying to walk away, that was your initial objective until a hand grabbed your wrist

" ...please...I'll repay you, you know i'm not really this kind" Levi said, staring daggers into you

You took a heavy sigh and looked at him, although you didn't want to accept defeat, he was rather handsome

" I'm sorry but I can't take that request" you said sternly, trying to make you look uninterested

"...fine then I respect that" Levi responded, straightening his clothes

you nodded, " well then i must get going" you said after the silent exchange

Levi nodded as he watched you fast-walk away

' fuck how am i going to get home without a bus ' you mentally cursed yourself for the stupid move

T H E  N E X T  D A Y

You looked at the blank computer screen, your eyes fluttering, you didn't get any rest at all and it was exhausting

You glanced at your phone, it signalling your middle work mark

You sighed and stretched widely, yawning in the process, it was going to be a long long day.

" hey [y/n], did you hear the news?" your friend, Sasha whispered to you

You push your chair to her, suggesting you were all ears, " what was it?"

" well-"

" the chairman is coming" your boss excused you too

You and Sasha both stood up shocked and bowed at the door immediately

" dismissed" a voice called

You look up and you were bewildered to see the man himself, Levi standing in your office area

" sir, what brings you here today?" your boss nervously smiled

" just doing checks" Levi stared at you and walked out

You were shocked, confused and astonished, why out of all the people, the chairman strolled casually to your office!?!?

It seemed Sasha was just in the same reaction as you

After everything goes silent she leans over to you and whispers, " why out of all people did the chairman just pop up!?!" she whispered

you stared endlessly

" I don't know "

" did you hear the chairmen appeared" someone whispered as you refilled your coffee

' this doesn't make sense, why would he appear' you put a finger to your chin, confused

" hey [y/n]" Mikasa, your new friend appeared beside you

" oh hi Mikasa! what brings you here? coffee?" you offered which to Mikasa softly shook her head

You tilt your head to the side waiting for her request or vent

" you seem a bit down" Mikasa observed you staring emptily at your mug at the same time

" oh its nothing" you smiled brightly

" is it Jean?" Mikasa red your mind

" w-hat!?! no it isn't!" you stuttered, waving your hands in a no direction

" if you really consider getting in a relationship you should go on a blind date" Mikasa honestly spoke

You stare at her, your lips curving into a frown, " I'll consider it" you said, slowly drinking your coffee

" you sure?" Mikasa persisted

You stared at her, maybe if its just to try it, it wouldn't hurt

" sure, it couldn't hurt" you faced her, nodding

Mikasa slowly smiled and patted your shoulder, " if you want my cousin has been looking for a date, maybe you should meet him today at night considering your work times, up to you" Mikasa left an option

" really? sure..." you smiled

" you can always cancel, I'm not trying to pressure you, please always take your time" Mikasa gave you a card

you nodded and skimmed her, " no worries, it's my free excuse for free food" you giggled jokingly

Mikasa chuckled at your remark, " of course."

A F T E R  W O R K 

Arriving at your parents home, you took off your shoes and entered the house

Your parents seemed to be away and still working so you went to your room and went through your clothes

You observe all the clothes, " its just a short date, not of importance" you thought as you chose your choice of outfit

You picked some not so formal clothes and fixed your hair and touched up some little messy things as well as adding some adjustments to your liking and practised some smiling in the mirror

' I hope I don't look scary'  you told yourself that made you giggle at yourself

After getting ready you got your bag ready and looked out your room and didn't see your parents home and sighed before walking out the door quickly

As you slowly walked outside you looked at the card Mikasa gave you with a location, you didn't know the location so you got a taxi and went inside and told the driver and just waited til then

to pass the time you wondered who the person would be, would it be like Mikasa's personality? it was her cousin after all

You thought all this while scrolling on your phone

After you got out to your destination

' wow this place is fancy' you wowed in the look of the building

You took a large breath and walked inside

You walked around and saw your number on the table which made you sit by the table

it seemed as Mikasa thought of everything and come to think of it the place was rather empty

While waiting you looked outside the window and admired the quiet night

" well well well" you heard

You realised the voice and turned to see the man you never thought be here

" Levi!?! what are you doing here" you asked

" i'd say the same thing" Levi said crossing his arms staring back at you

" well I was invited here" you said avoiding his glance

" oh you are the blind date...great" Levi muttered as he sat down

The two of you sat in silence, it was as if you turned to enemies ever since that " incident"

" the food is here" someone said as the food was ready

You stared at the food dumbfounded, " that was fast, I didn't even get to order" you gazed

" sorry about that..." Levi apologised

it was so rare of him to apologise which initially astounded you

" no need, its like everything is prepared for us and the food here is expensive," you told him

" do you not make a lot of money?" Levi asked, worry in his tone

" well I'm still studying so I haven't been paid in full" you excused

Levi nodded and leaned back on his chair and looked out the window

You picked up a fork silently and began to eat

" I never expected you to be here" Levi whispered 

" me either, I never knew you were Mikasa's cousin why didn't you tell me in highschool anyway," you said chuckling

" you never asked" Levi said sternly

" right" you smiled to yourself

The two of you then began to talk about the little things while eating afterwards, although you thought it would be awkward it was rather comfortable like the old days, you liked it that way

After dinner, you and Levi walked outside while still catching up

" that was fun catching up" You said as you walked outside

" I agree..." Levi spoke peacefully

" almost felt like it wasn't a date" you said as you stared at him, his cheek glistening with pink

" yeah it wasn't, think of it as a catch up" Levi coughed to cover his face

Suddenly as you were about to ask something you felt raindrops on your cheek

Levi noticed too and you both stared at the dark cloudy sky

" shit its raining" Levi said, being annoyed

You stared at him, why was it now your heart was fluttering, it felt like you were regaining feelings but before you fangirled about it you pulled an umbrella from your purse that was really helpful because of its size and shielded Levi

Levi was Shocked and looked at you, you two locking eye contact while heat flushing on both of your cheeks

' why do you always make my heart flutter so much, why do you even after all this time make me love you like before? why did I fall harder for you [y/n]' Levi thought as he softly searched your eyes
