Another month flew by. During that time, upper moon six had been defeated by no other than the sound pillar, Uzui Tengen, who had now retired. I was surprised when I heard Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Nezuko fought and survived. The boys had fallen into a deep sleep from their injuries. I had gone to see them resting, which made my heart ache at the sight.

I now had slain over fifty demons as a Kinoe. Not too long ago, I had been summoned to the next pillar meeting, which, news flash, was today. My stomach was doing flips and turns as Kanroji, and I approached the Ubyashiki estate.

"You don't have to worry. Everyone is super friendly!! And I won't let Shinazugawa nor Iguro bully you!!" Kanroji exclaimed

"Sure.. but I don't know if I deserve the ranking.. don't I still have ways to go??" I fiddled with my fingers, attempting to calm myself down

"Nonsense! Y/n, you are so strong, you might even surpass me!!" My mentor, soon-to-be fellow pillar, spoke with a smile

We both entered the garden, and the piercing gaze of the pillars burned holes into my skin, I averted my eyes and stared at the ground while following behind Kanroji.

"Oh my, Y/n what are you here for?" Shinobu called out

"MY LITTLE TSUGOKU IS BECOMING A PILLAR!!" Kanroji couldn't resist screaming it out

"Kanroji.." I almost felt like vomiting, my hands wrapped around my stomach

"Ahh.. sorry! I'm just so excited for you!!" She pulled me into a hug

I spotted someone in the corner of my eye, "L/n's becoming a pillar?"

"Mhm!! Isn't she amazing!!" Kanroji cooed

"..Who?" Tokito had forgotten who he was just talking about, I slipped out of Kanroji's hug and turned my attention to the mist pillar

"I guess I'll be the new plant pillar.. I don't like the way it sounds, plant pillar.."

"I think it's nice." He sent a thumbs up and I smiled at his compliment

"The master has arrived." The white-haired girls spoke simultaneously

"Thank you all for attending today, before we begin this meeting I would like to announce that Y/n L/n has now become the newest member of the pillars. She had worked endlessly to get here, I hope you all accept her. Now let's start this meeting, shall we?"

Hearing those words from Oyakata-sama made my heart flutter, I couldn't wipe the smile from my face, I would avenge you Kyojuro, I promise.

After the meeting had ended, I had gotten assigned a region to patrol regularly, which led to choosing one of Oyakata-sama's many estates, the one that intrigued me most was somewhat close to my old home, so it was perfect. The garden was overruled by vines and many kinds of flowers. Now I just need to furnish inside, and it would be home. Though I would miss my mentor, I'm sure I'll get to see her every now and then.

"L/n?" A voice called out from the entrance of the garden

"Tokito?" I watched as his eyes glanced around, "Isn't it beautiful!!?" I had a open-mouthed smile on my face

"Maybe too many flowers.." His expression was one I'd never seen from him, he was less serious, and a more comforting sound fell off of him

"I think there isn't enough! Though the inside is kind of big, I'm not sure what to do with it." I sweatdropped thinking of how much empty space there is

"Mm, yeah."

"Oh, did you need something? Sorry, I got distracted,"

"Uh yes, Kanroji.. what did she say again.." A short pause in his speech, "..ah she said something about food and taking you."

"Taking me? Did she really tell you to take me to dinner..?" I should've expected this from her

"MISSION!! MISSION SOUTH!! A TOWN SOUTH!!" Hoshi interrupted

"Aw man.. let's have a meal together another time, yeah?" I received a silent nod, "You can stay in the garden if you'd like, I'm sure you'll love to watch the clouds from here!" That wonder entered his eyes once again, I got so easily lost in those mint-green orbs.

"Ah, alright. Good luck on your mission." He sent a small wave at me

For some reason the mist pillar had been hogging my mind, I couldn't think about anything else as I ran through the dense forest. Hoshi had been leading me from up above and I spotted the town in the distance.

As soon as I entered the sound coming from this place was bone-chilling, it smelt of rotting flesh and blood. I covered my nose and kept on my path while examining my surroundings, there was dried blood on the walls, some of the buildings had been damaged, and even the dirt road had signs of a battle.

I couldn't sense any life in this place, nor the demon. The sudden sound of ripping flesh entered my ears, I practically phased to where I had heard it. There was the demon, his body had stripes as though he was a criminal, his hair a somewhat red hue. His attire was nothing other than a simple vest and martial art pants. I unsheathed my blade and watched as the demon stood up from his crouching position, his head glanced back at the noise I made.

I clenched my teeth after I read what was carved into his blood lusted eyes.

"Upper three, I've awaited our battle." I raised my sword

His eyes trailed down before returning back up, "I don't fight women."

"Make an exception, I'll be sure to slice your head off." I was getting angsty by the second

A short scoff fell from his mouth, "Please do tell your name. Your battle spirit is overwhelming."

"My name does not matter."

"Mine is Akaza, now again what may your name be?"

"Y/n L/n, now remember it good because I'm going to watch your body decay."

"We'll see about that."

Akaza had disappeared from his spot, appearing before me with his attack, ready to blow my head off. My sword met his fist and blocked the large blow, creating a turbulent of wind. I skidded back on the dirt and started pushing my strength to create distance.

The constant attacks were overwhelming, and the speed was something I could barely keep up with. There was blood flying each time we made contact. I couldn't tell who's it was. The cuts I had made on his flesh made no difference as it regenerated. A disgusting grin spread across his face.

"C'MON Y/N, SHOW ME YOUR FULL POTENTIAL!! THIS WAS NOWHERE NEAR THE BATTLE SPIRIT I HAD SENSED!!"

'Battle spirit?? Could he sense one's battle spirit? If so, that would tell me why it seems he can predict my attacks, he's going for my weaknesses, and hasn't even been in battle with me for that long. Is there a way I can make it disappear.. I have to find a way and fast.'

There was red liquid leaking down my forehead, it had made its way into my eyes, making it seem like they were bloodshot. I hadn't realized the multiple slashes that tore into my uniform. I went to block another attack of the upper moon, but it held more power than last time.

I flew threw the air and felt a harsh impact on my back. It had knocked the air out of my lungs. I clutched my chest and leaped out of the way. Akaza's fist met the tree I had just slammed into.

"YOU REMIND ME OF KYOJURO! YOU HAVE TO BE A PILLAR AS WELL!"

My face dropped. He spoke his name like he was his friend like he hadn't taken him out of this world. My arms and legs began to burn, my breathing became rugged, I wanted to slice his head off and make his body roast under the sun.

"YOU PIECE OF SHIT! I'LL KILL YOU!!" I gripped the hilt of my blade, making that sharp sound once again

"Y/n, set your heart ablaze." It sounded like he was really there, his voice only rang in my ears

I brought my sword behind my body, 'Breath of plant, eighth form: Humble.'

I sucked in a large breath, it squeezed my lungs. My body felt like it was on fire, but I felt.. amazing like I was at the top of my game. I shot myself toward the demon, connecting my sword with his neck. It dug into his flesh and ripped it apart. Akaza became extremely panicked, attempting to tear my sword from his neck, and succeeding.

"SO CLOSE!" The upper moon yelled out to me

My eyes shot back at him, my stance low and ready to absolutely shred this demon. I unleashed form after form, taking no regard for the energy I was outputting.

'First form.'

'Sixth form.'

'Fourth form.'

'Second form.'

Each one was eating away at my energy, I would not stop now. Akaza was no doubt giving his all as well. He used something called technique development, compass needle. His blood demon art was unique.

"YOU WERE BORN STRONG Y/N, BECOME A DEMON AND RISE TO THE UPPER RANKS!"

"NO FUCKING WAY!"

I only received a chilling laugh from Akaza. My blade struggled against his fist and he threw me up into the air, also following after. A grin spread on my face, I was waiting for just this.

"Breath of plant, seventh form: Unplanted tree."

"Blood demon art: Air type!"

This form was created when Kanroji and I were messing about the training grounds, she had told me once she had been on a mission and couldn't use a form without sure footing. I had practiced endlessly with mid-air combat, I owe it to my mentor.
