"I CAN'T BELIEVE I DIED TO A LOWLY SLAYER LIKE YOU!!"

"Lowly? I'm one rank below a hashira, you dumb fuck." The demon didn't get to argue against my words, his body flaking off and being carried away by the wind.

About three months have passed since Kyojuro's death. It's been a while since I've reached the Kinoe rank. Though one thing puzzled me, I hadn't seen the mist pillar in a while. The last time I encountered him was when he was in the streets with his head in the clouds as always, and I was returning from a mission when I had seen him.

"Tokito?" I called out to the young boy

His eyes were focused on the passing clouds, his mouth slightly agape as what he was seeing was magnificent.

"Who are.. oh L/n." His eyes had softened,

"You remembered my name?" I questioned, a big smile spread on my face

His eyes fell to the ground, then returned to meet mine, "I guess so."

"Are you busy right now? I'm hungry, and I don't want to eat alone.." I waited for his response

"... okay." The pillar started to walk off in a distinct direction

I wasn't sure what he meant by 'okay.' Though I followed right next to him either way. He kept taking turns and sometimes forgetting where he was going, also questioning why I was following him. I became patient with him even though my stomach was eating itself.

"I think.. this way." He spoke under his breath

"Is that it? The udon shop?" I pointed at the sign

He stood in place momentarily, "Yeah, it is."

"Great! I'm starving!" I latched onto his hand and dragged him inside the tatami doors

I chose a seat near a window, remembering how the mist pillar loved to admire the clouds. Just as I suspected, his eyes drifted to the sky again. His eyes swirled with wonder, and it only happened when his head was in the clouds, but his blue eyes held more darkness than any pair of brown eyes I'd ever seen. I find myself wanting to know why. I hadn't realized I was staring till an older man snapped me out of my trance.

"What can I get you two?" The man's voice was strained

I may have gone a bit overboard with how much I ordered.. bowls began piling up on the table, and the rest of the customers in there were starstruck. Their jaws were practically on the floor.

"May I have another bowl?" I exclaimed

"Uhh.. I'm afraid you've eaten all our food.." The man's face couldn't hide the shock from the towering plates

"Awww.. I'm still not full either. Oh well." A soft sigh left my lips

"You aren't full after that?" Tokito also stared at the pile of bowls

"Not really. I could eat at a whole other restaurant right now.." I huffed out a laugh

He paused shortly, his eyes removed from the plates and met mine, but that wonder swirled in his eyes like he was staring at the sky, "I'm impressed,"

"Ah! You really think so?!" I covered my face to hide the pink creeping on my cheeks

I smiled at the memory playing in my head, after that we parted ways, I asked if we could become pen pals to stay in touch, though I haven't recieved a letter in two weeks, I just hope he hadn't forgotten to write me back..

A loud caw rang from above, "MESSAGE!! MESSAGE FOR YOU!!"

"Hoshi?" I extended my arm for him to land on

"Message! From the mist pillar!"

"From Tokito?" I took the letter from underneath Hoshi's claw

'It would be nice to have lunch again, and I'm actually hungry right now. I also found a rock that reminded me of you, and I want you to see it. I had a mission with Uzui. He was embarrassing, so I pretended not to know him when a random lady asked. He's like a monkey. He kind of messes with my head.

Shinobu had just reminded me to send this to you. I apologize.'

I read the note aloud in my head, a small chuckle lefts my lips, it seemed the last part was added later.

"A coincidence, I was just worrying about him sending me a letter, I'll write to him when I get home." I sent off Hoshi and made my way back to the love estate

"WAHHH!! Y/N, ARE YOU HOME???" Kanroji rushed over to me, engulfing me in another one of her bear hugs, "You aren't hurt, are you?!"

"I'm not, don't worry!" She let me go, and I could see the dramatic tears falling down her face, "I've just stopped by to see if you were home, I'm going to the butterfly mansion to see if I can catch Tokito before I get assigned another mission."

"Oh, alright! Kukuku.. I was right about you two, wasn't I?!?" She squealed

"Yeah, pretend you are a matchmaker." I playfully rolled my eyes

"Before you go, I had an idea!!" Kanroji questioned my kill count as a Kinoe, and I was close to 40 at this point. She explained that if I had slayed 50 demons while in this rank, there was potential to become a pillar since there was a.. vacant spot.

"So if I don't die in one of my missions, you're saying I could become a pillar?" My eyes started to sparkle at the opportunity

"Yes of course!"

I thought of it on the way to the butterfly mansion. I'm so close to becoming a pillar. If I train my ass off and get that title, I can avenge Kyojuro. Maybe even get more time to be around Tokito, perhaps even become his friend.

"It's Y/N!! It's Y/N!!" I heard the adorable voices of the three butterfly girls

"Kiyo, Naho, Sumi! Are you doing alright?" I smiled at them

"We are great! Come we have caramel candy!!" The girls grabbed my hand and dragged me into the estate

I only chuckled at their enthusiasm, I sat down with the trio of girls and tasted the delicous treat. I had completly forgotten what I oringinally came here for, I loved these girls so much, they are sweeter than sugar itself, and their sound is overwhelmingly full of joy.

"L/n?" Once again that silvery voice, it made my stomach turn

"Tokito!" I had a tray of medical water in my hands, the three girls began to whisper and giggle to each other

"You aren't injured, are you?" He questioned with his head slightly tilted

"Ah, no.. I actually came by to find you, I got caught up with the girls, sorry about that! I'm going to bring the medical water to some patients and then let's talk alright?" I didn't give him the chance to respond as I entered the sliding doors, sending him a smile before dissapearing out of his sight

"IT'S Y/NNN!!" Zenitsu screamed out

"Y/n! It's been a while!" Tanjiro spoke with a smile

"M/N FIGHT ME RIGHT NOW!!" Inosuke huffed out

"It's nice to see you all too!" I chuckled, "I'm actually here to bring you your medical water," I set down the cups on their bedside, Zenitsu was acting like it was acid.

I finally got him to drink it by swooning him, Inosuke rambled about his strength and attempted to tackle me.. but with my ranking now as a Kinoe he got beat worse than before, Tanjiro had spoken about Kyojuro and how he got his guard, also about speaking to Shinjuro and Senjuro.

"Shinjuro is a tough man, but underneath it all he cares deeply for his children, it's just the sound that plays off of him, he can't hid it. I hope Senjuro is doing alright.." I sighed, reminding myself I would have to send Kyojuro's younger brother a letter. "I have to get going now, I hope to see you boys alive next time!"

I waved to the trio, them returning the gesture. I stepped out of their room, glancing at each end of the hallway hoping I could find the mist pillar. Aoi had found me roaming the halls like a lost dog, explaining the last she saw Tokito was in the garden.

I made my way out to the Engawa, slipping on my shoes and finding Tokito in the garden, just like Aoi said he would most likely be.

"Head in the clouds?" I questioned while stepping next to him

His minty green orbs stared at me, "Mm, not really."

"You mentioned a rock in your letter, the one you wanted to show me?" I, too, stared up at the blue sky

"Oh, right.." He reached into the pocket of his uniform, pulling out a glossy rock, it had light green streaks accompained by darker green ones.

I stared at the beautiful stone in his hands, before he grabbed my hand and placed it in my palms, "..so cool" I whispered in awe

"I found it.. uhh, where did I find it again?" He furrowed his brows trying to remember

"Tokito I have to ask, how come you have memory loss?" I moved my gaze from the stone to him

Silence fell upon us, I was about to take back the question but he spoke first, "I'm not sure."

"That's alright! Is it okay if I keep the stone?" I spoke with a gentle smile

"Yeah, and before I forget.. errr I found this on the ground." The hand he had been keeping behind his back revealed itself

"Is that.. a kaneshon?! I've been wanting one of these in my garden!! Thank you Muichiro!" I brought the mist pillar into a hug out of pure excitement

I quickly let go, realizing what that I had just hugged a pillar like we were friends.. and worse I called him by his first name. My face began to heat up unbelievably quick, along with my body, I held my head down in embarrasment and started bowing profusely.

"I'M SO SORRY!! I GOT TOO EXCITED.."

"It's.. alright, I guess." His voice was flat,

"A MISSION!! Y/N L/N!! SOUTH, SOUTH!"
