After screaming into your pillow and finally processing everything, you began to slowly start packing things away from your room in boxes, ready to move into your dorm. There were so many things you wanted to take with you: childhood memories and photos, stuff from your wardrobe and of course all your art stuff.
You knew university dorms weren't massive, so the amount of stuff you could take was slightly limited, but, you were willing to make it work. There was still a couple of weeks before the semester started, but you wanted to get out of the house as soon as possible, before your dad started asking too many questions.
Life went on and before you knew it, there were only two days before you were meant to leave. Your parents had been inviting family and close friends over to say goodbye to you the past week and constantly making sure you had everything you needed.
You couldn't lie, you would miss your mom and brother.
Your dad...not so much.
The night before the moving van was due to come help transport your things, you made the decision to spend as much time with your family as possible. You watched Jurassic World with your younger brothers and helped your mother cook dinner, she caught you up with all the latest drama from her bookclub and gossiped about the divorcees from her yoga studio.
By about 10:30pm, you were packed and ready, all that was needed was a good nights sleep.
As you lay in your bed for the last time, your mind continously wandered to your childhood memories. More specifically, a certain black haired male.
He was a year older and it was a big campus, so the chances of running into him were slim, but still, you wondered what he looked like now and if he had changed at all.
The room was dark, and your curtains were half open, allowing the moon to illuminate your bedroom. Your mind was going a mile a minute, thoughts about how tommorow was going to go danced through your head, making it almost impossible to fall asleep.
It was almost midnight.
And you knew you'd be waken up by the crack of dawn to get all your shit into the van.
Thankfully, as the day finally caught up with you, your eyes grew heavy and the dream world opened its doors, allowing you to comfortably drift off to sleep.
But, the night wasn't on your side; it seemed like your alarm went off only a minute after you fell asleep, and before you knew it, your lovely father was banging on the door telling you to get up.
"Y/n." he spoke, sternly "Get. Up."
You took a deep breath. You really weren't up to arguing with him at this point.
As you heaved yourself out of your bed for the last time, you looked at the paintings hung on the wall that you yourself had painted. It reminded you why you were doing this.
After getting ready, you stood in the center of your bedroom to give it one last look. So many memories in such a small place. You had laughed, cried, screamed and more in this room. There will still paint stains on the carpet from when Giyuu poured half a bucket of paint over of your head as a comeback because you broke his spiderman toy.
You sighed deeply and fiddled with the strings of your hoodie, before finally exiting the room.
You walked into the hallway to find your dad pacing up down and cursing under his breath. His phone was at his ear and he was rambling on about some buisness crap.
The rest of your family were outside, helping to load the last few things into the moving van.
"What's going on?" you asked your dad, as he hung up the phone.
"There's an emergency at work so i'm not gonna be able to make it to the university with you,"
You smiled internally.
"what a shame," you shook your head.
He placed a hand on your shoulder and gave you a small nod before grabbing his briefcase and rushing out the door.
"I guess that was my goodbye then," you thought as you watched him get into his car and drive off into the distance.
Your siblings and mom had to planned to go in the moving van, but you insisted on going in your own car, just so you could clear your head for a few hours.
You rolled the last suitcase out, and lifted it into the boot of your car. You took one last look at your childhood home, reassuring yourself that you hadn't forgotten anything, before giving your mom and brothers a smile and getting into the drivers seat of your car.
The moment you were inside, you pressed your head against the steering wheel and began to fumble with your car keys. You took a deep breath to calm your nerves as you waited for the moving van to leave your driveway so you could follow on after.
Clusters of grey coated the sky, giving the day a more gloomy and depressive feel.
But, the more you drove the more relaxed you felt. You had your playlist on shuffle and your favourite drink next to you.
Despite the chaos of getting everything out the house:
You couldn't lie, you were excited.
