It had been a while since you last saw Giyuu.
Sure, you had texted, but the last time you properly saw each other was when he dropped you home.
Not in a spiteful way or anything, you had both been busy, him with work and you either with your friends and art.
There was just a week left until the new term and the new year started, so you wanted to make the most of the time you had before you were hounded with assignments.
On one of those cold winter's afternoons, you ended up popping out, just for a bit of fresh air. You were going insane being cooped up indoors.
You wandered around town for a little while, somewhat desperate for the atmosphere that was on campus before everyone went away for the holidays.
It was only 4 pm, and the sun was just setting, but the streetlamps were lit all the restaurants were packed.
You thought about grabbing takeout, from somewhere for you and Mitsuri, but after seeing how busy and expensive it was, you changed your mind.
You ended up drifting inside a coffee shop for some hot chocolate (that much you could afford) and was more than pleased when you spotted a black haired man sitting in the corner, working.
He seemed concentrated, so you didn't take it upon yourself to disturb immediately. Instead, you ordered your drink and waited for it to be ready before going to sit down opposite him, hoping he would notice you.
You were there for merely a few seconds before his gaze caught yours, and a small and subtle smile crept up on his face.
He removed his headphones.
"I didn't expect to see you here,"
"I was just passing by and thought I'd say hi,"
"Hi," he echoed back, resting his chin in his hand.
"What are you doing?" you asked, glancing to his laptop and the very small pile of books next to him.
"Bit's and pieces. I finished an essay, and now I'm just tidying up some of my notes from lectures,"
You ran a hand through your hair before taking a sip of hot chocolate.
"What are you doing after?" he gently closed the lid of his laptop so he could see you better.
"Grab dinner for me and Mitsuri and then probably head back home,"
"Please tell me you've moved on from microwavable meals and instant ramen."
"..."
"Right, that settles it." he began packing away his things and slipping on his jacket.
Your face contorted with confusion, and you frantically followed him out of the shop.
"What do you mean?"
"We're gonna go shopping, and then I'm cooking for you AND Kanroji,"
The cold nipped at your skin as you and Giyuu made your way down the long winding paths to the supermarket.
You shivered as you entered the shops the doors, the air from the freezers very apparent.
You barely said anything, and Giyuu filled the basket with essentials, from milk to tomatoes to pasta. He seemed to know what he was doing, so you didn't dare question it.
He even paid for everything.
"You didn't have to do that," you said, walking out the store.
"L/n, you need to look after yourself, especially when you work as hard as you do," he gave your hand a reassuring squeeze.
Your breath hitched quietly at the sudden contact, and in all honesty, you craved for more.
-
"Mitsuriii," you called out as you walked through the door, causing her to pop her head out from her room.
"We have a visitor," you stepped to the side.
"Oh, hello Giyuu! What are you doing here?" she asked, running the hairbrush she was holding through her hair again.
You opened your mouth, but Giyuu spoke for himself.
"I'm making dinner for the both of you," he stated before taking off his jacket and hanging it up.
He rolled up the sleeves of the shirt he was wearing before washing his hands and getting to work.
"Did he say what he was making," your roommate whispered into your ear as you both watched him from afar.
You shook your head. "Nope, I just know it'll be delicious,"
You nearly went to ask if he needed any help with anything, but he looked so focused and determined that you left him be.
"L/n where are the plates?"
"Bottom right cupboard,"
"Are you staying, Tomioka?" You walked towards him.
"I'd love to, but I've got work soon. I'll text you, though, okay?" he reassured before ruffling your hair.
You smiled as he grabbed his jacket and headed out the door, the two plates of food still steaming on the kitchen counter.
-
To say Giyuu's cooking was good was an understatement. You never knew someone could make chicken katsu taste so good so it didn't take long for you to actually finish the entire plate.
"Y/nnn, Obanai's invited me over, so are you fine being on your own?"
"Go ahead, girl, don't worry about me," you encouraged.
"You sure?"
You reassured her that it was fine, you had work to finish anyway.
She was out the door quickly, and all of sudden, your dorm was quiet once more.
