The months flew by, and all of a sudden, it was February.
"I can't believe you're 21," you said one afternoon whilst you and Giyuu were studying.
"You make it sound like I'm ancient,"
"You are. Pretty soon, you'll need a walking stick," you teased.
"There's only a year between us,"
"Might as well be a decade,"
He shook his head and brought his attention back to his laptop.
You finished a painting and held it up to the light.
"What do you think?" you asked.
"It's beautiful. I love everything you paint,"
Your cheeks dusted a light shade of pink.
"Are you excited for valentines Day?" you asked, slightly desperate for conversation.
"Very," a subtle smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
"Now, what exactly do you have planned, Tomioka?"
"That's for me to know and you to find out February 14th,"
You sighed playfully before indulging yourself in more painting.

Despite still having a dorm room, both you and Mitsuri spent a lot of your time with your significant others, but still made a point to see each other as often as you could.
"Y/n come look!" Mitsuri beckoned you over from the other side of the living room one afternoon.
"I experimented with some watercolour. Do you like it?"
You took a moment to take in the blends pink and red that made up the most beautiful cherry blossoms she had painted.
"Holy shit Mitsuri. It's gorgeous,"
"Aw, you really think so? I feel like the colours are too bold,"
"They look great hun, trust me,"
She smiled before offering you a cupcake she had made earlier.
"So, how was Giyuu's birthday?" she asked, pushing her utensils to the side.
"Great," you smiled. "He didn't want something too over the top, so we just went out to dinner and had a little movie night,"
"That's cute! I can't wait to see what the guys have planned for us for Valentine's Day,"
"I know, I can't wait. Giyuu seems to have everything under control, so I'm leaving it to him."
You and Mitsuri and Shinobu ended up having a little self care evening. With exams just round the corner, managing your mental health was important. (Listen to the author's wise words, y'all)

The next morning was a quiet one. The harsh winter mornings you had gotten used to were slowly drifting away, and the sun was reluctantly beginning to shine.
After dragging your feet to the kitchen, your first instinct was to go to the coffee machine, but the group of people sat around the dining table stopped you.
"Sorry, Y/n! Tanjiro and the other's were in town, so I invited them for breakfast,"
"No, that's okay! It's good to see you guys again,"
"Likewise, Y/n," Tanjiro smiled.
Nezuko greeted you with a hug, to which you happily returned, and Inosuke spent ten minutes trying to convince you that he was, in fact, the mountain king.
You and Zenitsu planned your next UNO tactic, and Tanjiro updated you on how everything was going at school.
Everything was so peaceful at that moment.
You had no classes that day but still wandered around campus, out of pure boredom.
"Giyuu!" You called out, spotting him metres away.
"Hey sweetheart," he said, as you joined him by your side. "Everything okay?"
You nodded. "Yep! Just wanted to see you,"
"Well, I have a break now, we could grab coffee?"
He interwined your fingers as he effortlessly guided you towards one of the coffee shops on campus.
After opening the door with a ding, you slid inside a booth as Giyuu ordered himself a coffee and you a hot chocolate with marshmallows, cream, and other toppings you specifically asked him for.
"Here's your tooth decay in a cup," he teased, placing the drink down.
"I like to think my taste in beverages is immaculate. Thank you very much,"
"Of course honey," he said, leaning back.
"How's your day been?" you asked.
"It's been okay, I handed in another photography portfolio and another essay that my professor's seemed pleased with," he reached across the table and placed his hand on yours. "How's your day been, love?"
"Boring," you huffed. "I've got no classes, and all my work is done,"
"Enjoy it while it lasts,"
"I'm still kinda curious about what you have planned for Valentine's Day,"
"Curiosity killed the cat."
"..."
"...?"
"Fineeee, I'll be patient,"

Half an hour later, your boyfriend left to go to his next lecture, meaning your afternoon was spent alone until you bumped into some of your friends.
"Y/n!" Rengoku called out from meters away.
You turned your head at the sound of your name being called.
The fiery looking man beckoned you to where he and Tengen were sitting on a patch of grass.
"What's up, Y/n? You seem lost,"
"My classes are so awkwardly spread out this year. There's days when I have nothing, and I feel so...empty and unproductive,"
"Don't be. You work hard, and you're dedicated. Take some time for yourself!" Rengoku praised.
"I feel like I'm not doing enough,"
"Sometimes I find going to the library, and simply being there helps me stay busy and on track. Or going to the art department sometimes help," Tengen advised.
It was days like these. When all though you truly had no assignments, you wondered if your degree was pointless.
Perhaps your dad was right to begin with.
But, then you remembered the art show.
There was no point in doubting yourself now.
You just had to keep going.
