Sophia's head throbbed, her back hurt, and her eyes seemed to be glued shut. She kept trying to open them, but something in her head didn't let her.

Her hands started roaming the space under her. She laid her hand on something next to her, and she could only feel a hard surface. That's all it took for her to shoot up into a seating position, and for her eyes to rip apart.

She opened her eyes and was blinded by the sunlight entering through the blinds. She looked down at what she was touching. It was Chris' chest.

She was half laying on top of him. It took her a second to realize, but when she did, she jumped up from the couch completely. Nobody was in the living room because the night before, everyone had gone to bed while Chris and Sophia had stayed up a little longer.

With her sudden movements, Chris shot up too. "WHAT?" he yelled, his hands touching everything around him, looking for Sophia. His head snapped to the side, and when she wasn't there, he grabbed his hair.

"SORRY," Sophia yelled back, trying to calm him down. He looked at her, and he let out a heavy sigh. "You scared me shitless," he whispered.

She sat down again next to him. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you," she whispered. She saw him nod while looking at his phone. She could see the time now: 10:30 a.m.

Chris focused his gaze back on her, smiling at waking up with the girl. "Waking up next to you is actually crazy," he whispered, turning around completely and tugging her hair behind her ear.

She gulped. She could feel the tension between them. She looked at his hand that had lingered a little longer on her cheek than she'd expected.

Chris wanted to lean in again, kiss her, feel her lips on his. But before he could, she grabbed his hand and placed it back on his lap.

Chris frowned, his frustration getting the better of him. He rolled his eyes, standing up and pacing back and forth before Sophia.

She looked at him with worry in her eyes. He suddenly stopped in his tracks. He looked at her and bent down on one knee. Her eyes widened.

He sighed, showing her that what he was about to say was clearly very hard to get out. "Listen," he started, and her heart fell from her chest. There was never an instance where someone started a sentence with "listen" and actually said something positive.

"You have to make up your mind," he spoke, still kneeling before her. She supported her arms on her knees, and let her head fall into her hands. She could feel her throat starting to get clogged up.

"Chris," she whispered, trying to get him to understand, but he didn't let her speak. Doing all of this for his own good. "No."He simply answered.

He simply stood up. He was talking to himself while he walked around the living room, roaming his hands through his hair. She'd never seen him so stressed.

Chris was usually always the one to keep his cool, so seeing him react like this actually scared her of where those conversations could lead.

Chris couldn't take it anymore. He walked over to her, taking her hand and pulling her up. He pressed his palms to her cheeks, looking her into her eyes, hoping that this would go the way he expected it to. "I don't want to scare you with what I'm about to say. But I need to say it, or else I might actually explode." She could only form a nod to this.

Chris took a deep breath, not waiting any longer, or else he'd lose the courage to do it. "Do you love me?" he asked, and Sophia's jaw fell open.

"Chri-" She tried to get a better talk with him, but he didn't give her a chance to process anything he'd just said before he repeated his question.

"Do you love me? Because I know for a fact that I love you. I love you so much but I need you to make a choice because I can't do this. I can't be your second option. I can't be the one you come running to when things start to get better," he said, not taking a single breath between any words. "Because it's either you also want me at your lowest, or you don't get to have me at your best." He whispered.

Sophia didn't know what to say. She was completely taken aback with this confession. He loved her. Chris actually loved Sophia.

But did she love him? She was sure that she liked him, but did she actually love him as much as he loved her? Did she even deserve him after leaving him in the dust when he tried his very best to help her?

She looked down at the floor, not being able to answer his question. But indirectly, she did just that. Both his hands left her cheeks slowly. returning to his side. "Fuck," he whispered before going over to the entrance and starting to put on his shoes.

Sophia walked after him. "Where are you going? I didn't even answer you," she told him, while desperately trying to touch him.

"You didn't need to," Chris simply said, before grabbing his hoodie from the couch and walking up to the door.

"I'm sure other girls would love to be with me," he said, while he walked out. "So, I'm done waiting for you," were his final words while he slammed the door in her face.
