I had no choice. She had a good point, so I got up. We then started running for the front to catch up to Ha-ri and Min-jae.
~~~ 14 ~~~
We all slowly went outside, one by one, trying to not be seen by the zombies in the field.
Mi-jin and I were the last to leave.
We crouched along the wall and slowly made our way to the cafeteria.
Most of the zombies in the cafeteria had scattered, but we could see that at least 20 zombies were dead on the other side.
"That's good, it's progress," Ha-ri whispered back to us.
Ha-ri opened the window, which lead some zombies over. This alerted most zombies in the room after a few seconds, and we were given the OK to move to the next window, and do the same.
This time, it was Min-jae and Gwi-nam who left for the other window while Ha-ri, Mi-jin, and I stayed.
This time, as long as we were careful, we could make some actual progress, and no one got bit. Most of the zombies were on the other side of the school.
Every now and then, Ha-ri or Min-jae would have to shoot approaching zombies from outside the building.
Min-jae made it a goal to try to gather all of the arrows that had been shot, saying that it would be helpful in the long run.
This time, we successfully cleared the cafeteria from the outside.
We all hopped through the window and regrouped there, closing the windows behind us.
"Let's still stay quiet," I announced, whispering. "Just in case."
"Alright," Min-jae responded.
We walked through the cafeteria to the stairs.
Still being as quiet as we can, we climbed to the third floor, and eventually to the rooftop door.
Ha-ri tried to open it, but it was locked.
"What now?" I asked. "If we hit the door, zombies will come running."
Instead of responding, Gwi-nam just started pounding on the door with his fist.
There was no response.
Surprisingly, no zombies came either. We could hear their snarling from below.
Ha-ri and Min-jae guarded the stairs while the other three of us discussed our options.
"Let's just go back," I said. "If they were still up there, they would've opened it."
"That isn't true," Mi-jin responded.
"Yeah," Gwi-nam said. "But I do think we should go back."
"No, wait. Look," Mi-jin said, pointing at a sign that said 'Automatically Unlocks in case of fire.'
"Are you saying... You want to start a fire??" I asked, worriedly.
"It's not the worst idea..." Gwi-nam said to Mi-jin.
"Got anything we could burn?" Mi-jin asked me.
"What? Hell no!" I said.
Ha-ri turned around after shooting one of the zombies coming up the stairs. "I heard something about a fire. What's the plan?"
Gwi-nam pointed to the sign.
Min-jae was still keeping watch at the stairs, and very typical of him, he went to retrieve the arrows.
"You know we're trapped if zombies come up here," Min-jae said.
"Yeah, so let's hurry," Ha-ri responded.
"Don't worry, y/n." Mi-jin started. "We won't burn the school down, but what if we set the office on fire, and let the sprinklers take care of it?"
I thought about it, but every bone in my body was telling me that this would be a bad idea.
"That could work," Gwi-nam answered. "I'll go down."
"Are you sure?" Ha-ri asked.
"Yeah. Got nothin' better to do anyway."
"Okay."
Mi-jin handed Gwi-nam her lighter after making sure it worked.
"Thanks," he told her.
"Wait," I said. "I'll go with you. I'm the fastest."
He looked down, then nodded. "Alright."
"Mi-jin, Ha-ri, Min-jae, hide over there until we get back," I told them, pointing to the empty space that covered the stairs. It was hidden so that if a zombie came up the stairs, it wouldn't see them.
They all walked over and relaxed.
"Hey, don't get too comfortable! Stay quiet, and if you hear anything... well, just try to stay quiet," I continued.
"Yeah, yeah. Go burn the school down now," Mi-jin said, jokingly.
Gwi-nam and I made our way down to the 3rd floor while staying hidden. The hallway was filled with zombies, and the office was halfway through the hallway.
"Let's just kill 'em. We can take it," Gwi-nam whispered to me.
"I don't want either of us to get bit..." I replied.
"Hey, we're strong. We've done this before." He put his hand on my shoulder. "It won't happen again, I promise."
I sighed, and gave in. "Alright, I trust you."
He smiled, and removed his hand from my shoulder.
I walked around Gwi-nam and ambushed a zombie from behind, stabbing it in the neck.
(A/n - TLOU REFERENCE !!)
All of the zombies in the hallway snapped their heads towards us.
"Fuck.." I whispered.
They all charged at me, and Gwi-nam stepped in.
"Careful!" he yelled.
I was starting to get really tired, and my arms hurt. I could tell that Gwi-nam was getting tired too, but we pushed forward.
With the empty stairs behind us, we backed up and led them halfway up the stairs, killing them while they tripped up the stairs.
This method worked great, but it's like the zombies were never-ending.
"What do we do?!" I yelled, tired as fuck, and still killing as many zombies as I could.
"I don't know yet, don't panic!" Gwi-nam reassured me.
After about five minutes of straight fighting zombies, there were no more charging at us from the hallway.
We could still hear some that were probably trying to figure out what was going on from below us.
"Let's not take any chances. Hurry," I said to him, staying low and running towards the office. Gwi-nam followed me.
"There's too many of them in there," he said.
"We just took out the entire hallway, and you think this one classroom is bad?" I replied.
"We're both tired. Look at you, you look exhausted."
I sighed in defeat. "You're right, but... We don't have a choice."
Before Gwi-nam could stop me, I used my elbow to break one of the windows.
"It's the kitchen incident all over again. Let's do this," I continued.
Gwi-nam reluctantly started killing the office zombies.
I was helping him, but my arm really was sore, and I was having a harder and harder time killing each one.
"Keep pushing, y/n. We're almost there."
He kept trying to reassure me, but that didn't help the fact that my arm fucking hurt from stabbing so many of them.
Finally, we finished clearing out the office.
Gwi-nam opened the door for me. "After you."
"Thank you," I replied as I walked in. He closed the door behind us.
All of a sudden, a girl screamed. It wasn't like she was being killed, though. It was more of a rage scream, and she was in the hallway. To make it worse, it wasn't Mi-jin or Ha-ri either.
