you slowly fluttered your eyes open, looking up to a ceiling, and the sound of the vital sign monitor beeping.

i didn't die.... i survived, but how...

"y/n!" a voice said, belonging to hide. you looked over to your right. and there he was, along with kaneki... whose head was down.

"kaneki say hi to her" hide told him as he approached the side of the bed. kaneki finally lifted up his head and made eye contact with you. his eyes looked dead but yet horrified.

"hey guys..." you finally spoke softly. hide was quick to smile. "i'm so glad your okay, kaneki brought you in after finding you." he explained.

you looked over at kaneki who was pressing his lips together. "you aren't going to say hi?" you teased him. he blushed "h-hey" the boy finally spoke.

you giggled but it just sent you a sharp pain making you groan. "take it slow y/n... you're going to still be in pain for a while." hide said as he patted your chest softly.

"hey, kaneki?" hide looked over at kaneki , he looked back up at him. "ima go get us all food, i'll be back, keep an eye on her" hide then stood up and walked out the room, waving you a goodbye before he closed the door.

there was an awkward silence in the room for a good minute or so. that's when kaneki finally sighed and went to the edge of the bed. "hey... i'm sorry about the other night"

"don't worry about it ken... just know i'm always here" you smiled at him.

god he looks cute...

"how did you save me? are you like some type of god or what?" you asked him trying to make him laugh. instead it got a pale face from him.

"uh... i just found you . i think the ghoul didn't like you i don't know" he said awkwardly as he scratched his head. "dude... are you okay? why are you so different?!" you asked once again. "y/n, mind your business" kaneki said darkly.

you both stared at each other , sharing a mean stare. the fuck is his problem... there goes my feelings.

looking away from kaneki, you coughed into your hand by accident. when you looked at your hand , there was a little bit of blood. you gagged at that. "that's nasty"

you looked over at kaneki side just to see him barely walking out the room in a hurry. "kaneki...?" you said with a sad voice.

"no... no... don't cry y/n..." hide said with a concerning face , he wiped the tears off your face. you were crying at the fact that kaneki no longer is the friend you adored. "but... why is he like this?" you asked as you sobbed. "maybe he is going through some rough times... i don't know , he has been acting weird" hide tried reassuring you, but it wasn't working. "I-i like him... does he not like me back anymore" you looked at hide's eyes. he sighed and closed his eyes. "I can't talk on his behalf... its something both you need to talk about"

you nodded and took a bite out the sandwich he brought you. he rubbed your head as you ate "it will be alright y/n, kaneki will come back to us someday."

the conversation was interrupted by the female doctor. "hello guys, how are you feeling miss l/n?" she questioned you. "im feeling a little better, it just hurts to laugh, or cough" you replied as you gulped down your food. she nodded and wrote notes down, following it by checking your vital signs. "we can give you some pain medication but other than that, there's nothing much we can do unless the wound opens up again or gets infected"

"we understand" hide replied for you since he saw you have your mouth filled with food.

the doctor smiled and nodded "okay i will be back soon with some pain medication, excuse me" and with that she walked out the room.

you looked at hide who pulled out his phone and dialed someone.

"kaneki, can we meet up at my place in like 30 minutes, it's about.... y/n.... something happened. please hurry" hide sounded sad but once the call ended he smiled at you .

"don't worry bestie, i got this under control"

you giggled "so faking that something happened to me is a good idea?"

"i mean something did happen so it's okay" he scratched the back of his head as he smiled slightly.

hide looked at his door as he heard a knock.

he walked up to the door and opened it , and was greeted by the face of his best friend...

he saw kaneki look off , yet worried. he avoided eye contact. he let himself in and hide didn't say a thing while closing the door.

"hide— what happened to y/n?" he looked over. hide sucked in his teeth "y/n is fine, the real question is what happened to you buddy?"

kaneki rolled his eyes, heading to the door. hide was quick to guard the door. "nah-ah you ain't leaving until we have a serious talk". this slightly angered kaneki "dude get out my way!"

hide grabbed him by the shoulders and looked deep into his eyes. "KANEKI WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU MAN?! W-WHAT HAPPENED?!" he said with his voice slightly cracking, trying his best not to let tears come out— but there was one rolling down already.

"ME AND Y/N ARE WORRIED SICK, FOR FUCKS SAKES KANEKI YOU LEFT HER ALONE AT THE HOSPITAL WITHOUT A WARNING!!! WHO DOES THAT SHIT?!"
his were eyes watering. kaneki just stared in disappointment at his friend, who was basically breaking down.

hide finally calmed down and sniffled. "i — we miss you, y/n loves you and she needs you man"

kaneki looked away and thought to himself. "i'm dangerous for her hide, i will hurt her..."

"hurt her?! come on ken don't make me laugh, you wouldn't even hurt a butterfly" hide tried lighting up the mood but clearly failed.

"just talk to her please? she really wants you and feels like she's the reason for you pulling away from us..." hide sighed

"remember what happened last time ken?" he added.

kaneki looked at hide eyes with concerned.

"she's going down that path again..."
