-the following day-

someone knocked on the door, you quickly glanced and the man who entered was ayato.

"sorry i couldn't come visit you earlier" he said softly, he had flowers and small teddy bear on both of his hands. he gave you the teddy bear and placed the flowers on the coffee table.

"awee... ayato... you didn't need to bring me this" you smiled as you looked at the teddy bear and then at him. "i love it, thank you so much"

you sat up better and opened your arms, he quickly sat on the edge of the bed and embraced you. "i'm so sorry i wasn't there that night" he said , his voice breaking.

"i'm fine... look at me, im alright" you pulled away and both of you guys making eye contact for a few seconds.

another knock was on the door, the door quickly opened. it was kaneki, him alone.

both you and ayato separated quickly, acting guilty of something. kaneki just stared both of you guys. "did i interrupt something?" he said shyly.

"no...." ayato said as he stared him down. "not at all, ive got to go. i'll text you okay?" ayato said and quickly left. making you question yourself.

that's weird... does he know kaneki?

"h-hey ken... do you know him?"

kaneki shook his head "never saw him in my life, why ask?" his voice was innocent, he sat where ayato was sitting.

you played with your fingers, nerves where all over your body. "why?"

kaneki raised a brow "why?..." he asked.

"why are you back? you hate me..."

"i never hated you y/n, im just scared i'll hurt someone so... pretty" he said softly, he placed one of his hands on top of yours.

you started blushing. "ken... i'm always here for you if you need to let anything out" you said softly, looking deep into his eyes. he smiled at you.

"i know... this is just something i can't put on someone like you" he squeezed your hand.

"but... why? i don't understand, it's not that hard!" you frowned.

"y/n... please drop it" he said seriously avoiding eye contact with you.

another knock was at the door, it was a nurse.

"hi there miss l/n, good news. you are free to go home, your vitals signs are completely normal." the nurse said with a smile as she held onto her clipboard.

you smiled "really?! haha okay yea! ima start getting my stuff ready"

"yes of course, i'll leave both of you alone now. please stop before you leave so i can give you some papers" she added and walked out.

"here let me help" kaneki offered you a hand, he started packing everything up for you.

he then came across the flowers "whose are these? who gave you these?"

"oh my friend, the one who was here before you came" you replied innocently as you put on your slides.

"i'm guessing he likes you huh?" a irritated voice escaped from his mouth. "oh no , not at all we are just very good friends" you replied as you walked over to him and grabbed the flowers yourself.

"could you please hold that bag for me?"  you smiled at him, he nodded and went ahead and grabbed your stuff.

kaneki and you finally arrived at your apartment

"ahhh home sweet home" you took a deep breath. "i've missed my house" you said and walked over to your room and flopped onto your bed.

"your house is very clean compared to mine... i'm pretty embarrassed now" kaneki said as he stood on the doorway.

there was a few seconds of awkward silent until kaneki finally spoke.

"y/n... are you alright?" he asked you.

you looked up to him and gave him a smile.

"yeah now i am because you are here..." you replied. "no.. like are you okay , mentally okay?" he asked you as he got closer to you.

you pressed your lips together and frowned "why would you ask me such question?"

"hide told me that you were possibly going down that road because i was being distant from you... and well i got worried i don't need you to he doing stupid things" he said softly as he looked at you.

"oh... so is this why you came to see me? just because you felt bad? not because you actually wanted to see me?" your voice was now angry.

"what?! no. not like that y/n stop thinking like th-" he tried calming you down.

"no dude , you know im right. what was i thinking?" you let out a chuckle. "kaneki actually visiting me because he missed me? no. i'm stupid. you just felt bad" you stood up and walked away from the room. kaneki following you from behind.

"y/n! please listen to-"

"leave my house please" you interrupted him.

"but-"

"now ken..."

kaneki sighed and looked into your eyes. he quickly got close and pulled you in for a kiss.

you couldn't just push him away, you ached for a touch from him.. but a kiss was way better. you placed your arms around his neck and deepend the kiss.

you couldn't help but let out a small heavy breath in between the kisses. kaneki finally slowly pulled away from you and made eye contact with you.

"no stop... you dont mean it— i'm not that woman..." you started tearing up.

he didn't say anything , as if he was lost for words. it ached you.

"that's what i thought..." you said feeling a small tear roll down cheek.

"y/n i don't have to say anything..."
he finally said softly.

"when i can just show you"
