((I honestly didn't intend on making this so long, but oh well. Anyhow, it's been a week since I had a crush on Marv, and it's clearly getting worse

Summary: Me and Marv have a secret relationship behind the McCallister family's back

Words: 2.1k words

This has been occurring since I met Marv in an alleyway while walking home from school. I wasn't sure how long I could keep this secret going, since Mom kept asking me if I had a boyfriend yet. Even if I tried lying to her about me having one at school, she would want to meet him, and I couldn't have that. Marv on the other hand was also hiding our relationship from his best friend Harry as well, not wanting to be shamed for being in love with someone who was still in school. So you could guess that we didn't get to see each other much, besides the times Marv would sneak in through my bedroom window late at night sometimes. And I knew there were a few guys at school who were interested in me, but I wasn't because my heart already belonged to Marv. It was after school some time in the beginning of December. I wanted to walk home by myself so I could walk home with Marv, so I was hoping none of my siblings would try following me. A block away from the school, I felt arms wrapped around my waist, followed by the familiar feeling of Marv's curly hair pressing against my cheek. "Hello, love." He spoke up, "Hey babe." I smiled as I looked at him from the corner of my eye. But I didn't know that one of my siblings, Buzz, was watching the whole thing. Buzz must've been following me to try and scare me like he always does. "How was school?" He grabbed my hand and started walking with me, "Eh, boring. I was thinking about you the entire day." I looked up at him, "Awww, isn't that sweet?" He leaned down and kissed my forehead. I smiled at the feeling of his mustache tickling my forehead. "Is your family going anywhere for Christmas?" Marv suddenly asked, "I haven't heard anything about it." I shrugged. But while Marv started explaining the things him and Harry did while I was at school, I heard footsteps following behind us. "Do you hear that?" I stopped, "Hear what?" Marv looked behind us. I gulped at the shocked expression plastered on his face, so I slowly turned around to see what he was looking at. Then I saw him; my brother, Buzz.

"Modesta, I thought you said you didn't have a boyfriend?" He approached the both of us, "I don't know what you're talking about." I nervously looked up at Marv. "Stop playing stupid." Buzz crossed his arms, "I'm not." I started sweating even though it almost felt below freezing outside. "Then who is this? Doesn't look like anyone from school to me." Buzz motioned towards Marv. I bit my lip while staring down at the ice covered sidewalk. "Nothing to say, huh?" Buzz laughed. Marv looked pissed off, "At least she looks better than your girlfriend." Marv spoke up. Buzz looked towards Marv with an angry expression on his face. "Wait till Mom hears about this." Buzz ran off, "YOU BETTER NOT!" I shouted before glancing back at Marv, who was probably upset that I had to leave sooner than he wanted me to. "I'm sorry baby, I have to deal with this." I grabbed the fabric of his shirt and pulled him down to my height before giving him a small kiss. "Love you!" I ran after Buzz who was already far off, "Love you too!" I heard Marv shout back at me. He was already home before I even reached the front door. He saw me standing in front of the front door, breathing heavily. "What's wrong? Upset you had to leave your boyfriend?" Buzz made a sad face. "Modesta has a boyfriend?" Fuller asked as he sipped on some soda, "Stay out of this!" I shouted at him. "Too bad Mom isn't home yet, wait till she finds out at dinner tonight." Buzz laughed while walking upstairs. I sighed and slouched against the wall, burying my face in between my legs. "Hey Modesta." I heard Kevin's voice, "What?" I groaned, "Everything okay?" He sat down next to me. "Buzz." I simply answered, "What's he bugging you about this time?" Kevin asked me. My face turned white, because I knew that I had to keep my secret safe from my whole family. Even though me and Kevin got along the most, I still didn't trust telling him. "It's nothing." I mumbled. Kevin just shrugged his shoulders and walked off.

Later during dinner after I had forgotten about the whole incident while walking home from school. I seemed more at ease, hoping that Buzz had also forgotten about it as well. "Oh hey Mom." Buzz suddenly spoke up, "Yes?" She turned towards him while taking a sip from her drink. I gulped hard as I watched Buzz look towards me with a devious smile. "I saw Modesta walking home with someone today." Once my name was mentioned, everyone at the table looked at me. I sunk down into my chair. "You did? It could've just been one of her friends." Mom responded. I sighed in relief and was about to continue eating when Buzz spoke up again. "No, they were holding hands." He said. Dad spit out his drink while everyone else choked on their food from the sudden surprising news. "What!?" Mom looked towards me. "Oh wow, would you look at the time? I'm exhausted!" I got out of my chair and darted out the kitchen and upstairs to my room. I knew someone was following me when I heard footsteps running up the stairs after me. I leaped onto my bed and covered my entire body to avoid looking at whoever just walked into my room. "You have some explaining to do." I heard Dad's voice, "Mmmm." I groaned in response. "I don't want any attitude." He answered. The weight on my bed pushed down and slightly squeaked underneath his weight. "Buzz is lying." I uncovered my head from the blanket, "Then why did you run off?" He asked me, "Because, I-" I stopped and tried thinking of a believable excuse. "Now I know you're the one lying." Dad crossed his arms, "Why do you always believe Buzz? I'm literally older than him!" I slammed my hands on my bed. "Enough! staying up here for the rest of the night!" He shouted at me. Then he got up, slamming my door closed.

A couple hours after the whole incident as I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep, I heard knocking at the window beside my bed. I uncovered myself and peeked out the window to see Marv smiling at me. A smile appeared on my face as I opened the window, allowing him to climb inside my room. "Did your brother actually tell on you?" Marv asked while I closed the window, "Yes." I sighed before plopping back down onto my bed beside Marv. "How'd your parents react?" He wrapped an arm around my waist, "My Dad told me I'd be staying in here for the rest of the night." I sighed while hugging my legs. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have walked you home." He leaned his head on my shoulder, "No, it isn't your fault, babe. It never is." I slightly smiled up at him. Soon we sat in silence in each other's arms before Marv spoke up again just as one of my parents was walking past my room. "Do you think I'd be able to walk you home again tomorrow?" He asked, "I'm not sure." I sighed. The door knob on my bedroom door started rattling, "Modesta!? Who's in there!? Open this door right now!" I heard Dad's angry voice from behind the door. My eyes widened as I immediately got up and motioned Marv towards my bedroom window. He quickly opened the window and climbed out, accidentally slipping on the icy roof and sliding off into the snow. I winced slightly, but Marv gave me a thumbs up to tell me he was fine, before then disappearing into the darkness. I closed my window and unlocked my bedroom door just as Dad barged in.

He looked through my entire room while I stood by the stairs awkwardly. "Where the hell did he go!?" He quite literally turned my room inside out. Soon almost the entire family showed up after they heard Dad shouting.

Harry was also wondering why Marv always left without telling him where he was going all the time. So after Marv left, he decided to follow him to see where he's been going all the time. He followed him in his van, getting suspicious as he saw Marv approaching one of the largest houses in the neighborhood. Then he walked as Marv went into the backyard and climbed up onto the roof and towards one of the windows. Someone opened the window and Marv climbed inside before the window was closed again. "What the hell-" Harry sat in confusion, "Who does Marv know who lives here?" He asked himself. A couple minutes later and he noticed the window being opened again, then out came Marv again. He accidentally slid down the roof and landed on the snow below. Harry became even more confused when he gave a thumbs up to whoever was at the window. Then he ran off, but noticed Harry's van parked nearby. The color drained from his face once he saw Harry sitting in the driver's seat. Marv smiled awkwardly before deciding to climb into the passenger seat of the van. "You have some explaining to do." Harry turned towards him, "I know." Marv sighed and looked down. "First of all, who the hell do you know who lives here?" Harry asked, "Well, I-" He stopped and wondered how the hell he was going to explain everything to Harry. "You've been off and about without telling me for far too long." Harry answered. "Well, it's that I-" He coughed out, "That you what?" Harry crossed his arms. "I have a girlfriend." He looked up at Harry as he spoke, "You're joking." Harry laughed awkwardly at what Marv said, hoping that he was joking. But judging by the look on his face, he knew he wasn't joking. "Are you dating someone at that house?" He pointed towards the McCallister's house while Marv just slowly nodded.

After everyone had found out about my relationship with Marv, I knew something had to be done. Dad had just taken away my prized walkman and all of my favorite possessions, then locked me in my room. Then that thought came to my mind; what if I ran away? It would be better to live with Marv than live with a family that wouldn't support my relationship. "Fuck it." I threw off my covers and grabbed whatever pair of shoes was the closest, then put them on before grabbing my leather jacket. I opened my bedroom window and stepped onto the slippery roof, almost slipping off but quickly catching my balance. I clung tightly to the window sill before closing my bedroom window, then letting myself slide off the roof and into the soft snow below. "It's too late to change my mind now." I wiped the snow off of my clothes before leaving my backyard. But I heard a car door slamming closed from nearby, scaring me slightly. "Babe! What are you doing!?" I heard Marv's voice. He pulled me into his arms before I could even turn towards him. "I'm running away." I looked up at him, "But why?" He asked me, "Because now my whole family knows I have a boyfriend, and they aren't going to like you. I just know it." I sighed before pressing my forehead against his chest. "But you didn't have to run away." He rubbed my back, "But they won't let me see you ever again." I cried out. "Shhhh, it's okay. Come into the van, you're gonna freeze to death out here." Marv said to me. I nodded and he pulled me towards his van that was parked in front of the driveway I was standing at. But once he pulled me inside, I noticed his friend Harry sitting in the front seat. "Marv, who is this?" I heard him ask. Marv just ignored him and continued to comfort me instead. "It's my girlfriend." He finally responded. "Why'd you bring her in the van?" Harry asked, "Because she told me she ran away and wants nothing to do with her family." Marv ran his fingers through my hair as he spoke. "You know what? It's your life, Marv. I'm not gonna stop you." Harry sighed. The heater inside the van and the body warmth radiating off of Marv was enough to make me feel so much better.
