((I've been thinking about writing this all day at school. Just 2 and a half weeks before I get off for Christmas break.
Summary: After Marv robbed our house last Christmas and was arrested, he promised he would come back for me
Words: 1.2k words
I realized that I was in love from the moment I saw Marv sitting in the front seat of their van with Harry. And that was the first time I ever laid eyes on him, and it wasn't the last after I found out they were planning on robbing me and Kevin's house. So when the clock struck midnight, Kevin ordered me to go downstairs to watch if either one of them would be dumb enough to fall for one of his traps. Except I was the one who fell for his traps since he never mentioned what kind of traps he had set up in the basement. And I was about to learn it the hard way. I opened the basement door and the second my foot stepped onto the first time, it immediately got stuck. "What-" I looked down and saw a black liquid coating every single step. Just then I saw someone ducking underneath the window on the basement door. "I better see which one it is." I mumbled to myself before pulling off my socks that were now ruined. A sharp pain shot throughout my foot. My eyes widened and I looked down to see that I had stepped on a nail with my bare foot. I screamed in pain and stumbled down the stairs, but I landed on something soft instead of the hard basement floor. I squinted my eyes open and saw Marv staring down at me. "You okay?" He asked, "What does it look like? I just stepped on a nail." I groaned, staring at the blood that was leaking onto my hand. "Oh crap, you're really bleeding out." Marv frantically looked around the room. Then he suddenly threw off his jacket, tore off the sleeve of his shirt, then proceeded to tie it around my foot. "Why are you helping me?" I titled my head, "Because you aren't like Kevin who shot me in the face with a bebe gun." He put his jacket back on before helping me get to my feet.
His eyes scanned over to what looked like a cord hanging from the laundry chute. But I remembered seeing the flat iron holding up the laundry chute door. I ran over to Marv just as he yanked the cord, and the hot iron fell directly onto my face. I once again collapsed into his arms, "You already went through 3 traps for me, I don't want you getting hurt anymore." He pulled me to my feet with an arm wrapped around my waist to prevent me from losing my balance. "I don't want you getting hurt." I leaned my body against his as I spoke, "But you're not the one robbing a house." His fingers lightly grazed over the burn mark forming on my face. I winced slightly at the feeling of his cold fingers touching my face. "I know, but-" I whimpered quietly. "What?" A slight smile appeared on his face as he looked down at me, "I-I don't want you going to prison, I won't see you again..." A single tear rolled down my cheek. The tear burned into my skin as I stared passionately up at him. "Listen to me." He whispered, "If I do end up in prison, I WILL come back for you. Do you hear me?" He looked into my eyes with his bright blue ones, "Y-Yes." I slowly nodded.
I stood from the window outside at the house across the street. Cop cars littered the driveway and the front lawn. Then Marv and Harry emerged from the front door. I felt the feeling of wanting to burst into tears at the sight. I had fallen in love for the first time in years right before Christmas, just for him to be arrested. Marv made eye contact with me from afar. He gave a slight smile before he was forced into the back of the police car. That was the last I ever saw him until me and Kevin accidentally ended up in New York next Christmas. I was beginning to wonder if me and Kevin going to Florida for Christmas was a huge mistake. But that was when I found a newspaper the next morning that was blown by the wind and onto our porch. 'Wet bandits escape prison riot' and you could've probably guessed who was on it; Harry and Marv. My eyes widened once I discovered the amazing news. It got me wondering if Marv had kept his promise from last year, or if he could've just forgotten about me. Kevin seemed pretty excited when we both accidentally ended up in New York, because he believed it was way better than the tropical climate of Florida. I didn't mind it either for the exact reason. But it was actually quite hard enjoying our time in New York when the only thing on my mind was Marv. I wondered if we would be able to spend Christmas together, but that chance was small since I don't even know where he could be right now.
I was walking across the road through crowds of people when I accidentally bumped arms with someone, who I only caught a glimpse of out of the corner of my eye. That incident bothered me for the rest of the day, and obstructed my good day. Everytime I would glance around the busy streets of New York, hearing the same song in every store 'All Alone on Christmas by Darlene Love.' It hurt me to tears knowing I was probably going to be alone on Christmas. Seeing all these happy couples roaming the streets broke my heart into a million pieces. I would do just about anything to see Marv right now. Just as I decided to take a walk at night by myself while Kevin was fast asleep in the hotel, something happened that I never even thought was possible. I stopped at the corner after hearing familiar voices. "But you promised you'd take me to the Central Park Zoo!" One of them complained, "Damnit, we don't have time for that." Another voice groaned. I stood in thought as I tried to figure out where I heard those voices before. I shrugged and turned the corner anyway, but bumped directly into someone's chest. "Shit, sorry-" I stopped to see who it was, then the memories came flooding back. Last Christmas, Marv was in the basement of our house, promising to return to me after he got out of prison. The face, the hair, the eyes... I knew it was him. "Modesta?" My name escaped his lips. It was almost like the angels up above just hearing the sound of my name leaving his mouth after so long. "M-Marv?" I stood in shock. Someone beside Marv who I assumed was Harry, looked extremely confused about the whole situation. "I told you I wouldn't forget to come back." He smiled widely before pulling me into a tight embrace. I gladly hugged back while tears escaped my eyes. "Marv? Who the hell is this?" I heard Harry's voice from beside us. Marv's chin rested on my head as he slowly rocked me back and forth. I knew this moment would come, I'd just have to keep waiting long enough. Now a year later, here I was, in his arms again just like he promised. Just in time for Christmas.
