𝑛𝑜𝑡𝒉𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑙𝑒𝑓𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑙𝑜𝑠𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑡𝒉𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑚𝑦 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦

It was the day of the game against Phillips and his team

If I'm being totally serious, I was kinda nervous, I knew we're gonna beat the totally shit outta them

But I was nervous about how I was gonna play, I mean, even if they needed me to play

I got outta my thoughts by standing up from my bed and reading my clock, resting on my nightstand that said 10:18

I decided to get ready a little early since everyone agreed on meeting at the sandlot before we went to the Tigers field

Benny said we should be at the sandlot at around 11:15

I started getting ready by showering and my hair (wtv you want)

I then changed my clothes into some loose jeans with small rips in them and a Johnny Cash shirt and some pf flyers (guys, if you wanna change it, that's fine)

I grab my glove and run out the door, running to the sandlot so I'm not late like always      

As I'm running to the sandlot, I look down at my watch to make sure I'm running late

As I'm looking down, I feel myself collide with someone and fall down,

I looked up to see a boy around my age. He had brown hair, light hazel eyes, and tan skin kinda like mine

INTRODUCING

I looked up at him and made eye contact, but I couldn't get the word I was gonna say out of my mouth

"I uh- I- yeah, sorry that - that was my fault, I gotta watch where I'm going." I managed to get out

This guy's was kinda cute, I thought "So wheres a pretty girl like you going in such a rush?" he says as I feel the heat rising to my cheeks,

"I uhm- I'm going go a baseball fields and meeting up with my friends," I said

"Oh well, don't let me make you late, but I would like to give you this."

He said as he gave me a small piece of paper and continued, "See ya around.."

"Y/n with a r/l (random letter iykyk) and you are," I said, finishing his sentence

"Cameron with a C," he said while he smiled and walked away

As he walks away, I open the paper he gave me

'Call me xxx-xxx-xxxx ;)' it was very charming, I mean himself was very charming

I then snapped back into what I was already doing and continued running to the sandlot

As I'm arriving, I saw the boys in a group all talking at the same time, and Benny looked annoyed by all the commotion

I ran up to them, and Benny saw me and opened his mouth. Here we go

"Where have you been," he said with anger and worry in his tone

I opened my mouth to speak, but then I was almost instantly cut off by the boys scolding me

"Look ok I'm aware I'm late, but we can talk about that later. Right now, we have to go to the Tigers field so we can start warming up, " I said, trying to get them to stop questioning why I was late

I look down at my watch and read the time that said 11:45

We needed at least 5 minutes to warm up, and it took around 7 minutes to get there by walking

"Y/ns right guys, we should go now," Smalls said sensibly

Benny looked defeated, and eventually, everyone started to walk to the Tigers field

I was walking at the back of the group, and Smalls came up to me, concerned. "So why were you late?" he asked

Well, I can't lie to him, so I told him what really happened. "We'll. I was doing ok on time when I left, then I ran into this guy, and we stopped to have a conversation after we stopped talking. That's when I realized I was late. "

"Oh, that's not even bad," he says truthfully. "Believe me, I know, but the boys are always on my ass whenever I'm late,"

"Oh," that's all he had to say. "Who was the guy?"

I was nervous he'd ask me that "Well, it wasn't anyone I knew, but I just bumped into him, and that ended with him giving me his number," I said

"Oh, well, that makes sense," he said "Yeah I guess it kinda does.

Our conversation ended with us arriving 5 minutes before we had to start the game

We started warming up by Tommy, giving everyone grounders and them throwing it back to him

Kenny and Ham were practicing pitching, and Benny was practicing hitting because he didn't play a fielding position

I, however, was just sitting in the bleachers watching everything

As soon as everyone was done warming up, the game officially started

Our team was fielding first, so we're technically the home team even though it's not our field

The leadoff hitter for the Tigers struck out, along with the next two, so now it's our turn to bat

We didn't have a lineup, so whoever was ready just goes

At the end of the inning, we ended up with 4 runs and 5 hits

It was finally the last inning from a very long game

We were up 16-5, we were the absolute crap out of them, and seeing them so defeated was amusing

We were down to the final out, and if we got two more runs, we would have mercy ruled them (idk if they use that rule in baseball, and if that rule even existed at that time but oh well)

Smalls were on second base, and Benny was up to bat, I had a strong feeling Benny was gonna walk it off, but we'll see what happens

Benny was in his stance, and the pitcher pitched Benny a fastball down the middle

That was another mistake made by the Tigers that game. Before I could blink, Benny hit the scoreboard

Signaling, he got a home run, and he started celebrating as he ran around the bases

All the Tigers walk off the field in utter defeat as we celebrate our big win

We start getting our stuff and leave the field

Benny suggests we go to the fair tonight so we can celebrate the win against our rivals

We all agree to that idea, so we all went home and got ready

The fair started in 45 minutes, and it would take us 15 minutes to walk there, so that would give me 30 minutes to get ready

Not a lot of time, but I can work with that

I started by showering and blow drying my hair, then I changed into some new clothes

I'm finally done getting ready. I all of us meet up outside of Benny's house, and we start walking to the fair

The walk on the way there was full of laughter and excitement

We eventually arrived at the fair, and everything was thrilled
