𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑗𝑓 𝑗𝑚 𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑏𝑙𝑢𝑒, 𝑝𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑒 𝑑𝑜𝑛𝑡 𝑠𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑚𝑒

It was a couple of days after the night game, and we were playing like usual

Squints had thrown to Yeah-yeah, Yeah-yeah threw to  it became a pickle

Everyone was running back and forth, but Benny was too fast, and he reached home

Then they started moaning and groaning

And when everyone, including me, kept their attention on Benny, and they kept whining, Squints yelled, "OH NO."

I looked at Smalls, then looked in the direction he was looking in

It was Phillips. Oh, heck, nah

What could he possibly want this time, maybe to mess with us or flirt with me, one of the two

Him and his little team slowly approached us and slowly came to a stop on their bikes

"Yeah, it's easy when you play with a bunch of rejects and a fat kid Rodriguez, except for you y/l/n," he said, then winked at me

He actually thought he was smooth

"Shut your mouth, Phillips," Benny said, pointing the bat at him. "What'd you say crapface?" Ham said, sounding infuriated

"I said you shouldn't even be allowed to touch a baseball, except for Rodriguez and y/l/n you're all in insult to the game," Phillips said, antagonizing me even more

Ham then said how we'll play them right now

"We play on a real diamond Porter, you're not good enough to lick the dirt of out cleats"

Then they started going back and forth calling each other names, and then Phillips said, "You bob for apples in the toilet, and you like it."

Then Ham crossed his arm and opened his mouth and said, "You play ball like a girl!"  Oh hell no

Everything was silent until I approached Ham

"I'm sorry, what?" I asked. There's no way he just said that

If it wasn't Phillips, he said it, to I would slap him, but seeing Phillips' reaction made it all worth it

As Ham was stammering on and on, Phillips said something, "What'd you say?" he said as if he didn't hear him

"You heard me," Ham said, looking at Phillips in victory. He knew he had gotten the best of Phillips

"Tomorrow, noon, at our field, better be there buffalo breath," Phillips said

"Count on it, pee drinking crap face," Ham said

As they began to bike off, I turned to look at Ham, and he gave me a smile

"Oh, don't think ima let that slide that easy," I said, not forgetting the remark he made earlier

"Look, I'm sorry, ok -" He started before I cut him off "Hey I'm just shittin' ya, that hijo de puto deserves it" (ROBIN ARELLANO MOMENT)

He had a moment of relief as he let a big breath of air out, knowing that he was let off easy

He then walks back to the dugout with a smile. While he's walking away, Benny walks up to me

"Hijo de puto is new," he said. "Sure is," as I said, laughing a little, "Where'd you learn that?" he asked

"Benny, remind me how long have we been friends?" I asked. "Too long," he said "Ok so you'd expect me to pick up on some stuff you haven't taught me," I said

"Well, I guess, but how do you know what it means?" he said, still confused. "I just ask your mom," I laughed through a little. "Of course you do." We both laugh at the fact that me and his mom are so close, we can literally say almost anything to each other

As we arrive at the dugout, Benny announces that we should go home and get some rest for our game tomorrow

Then everyone gathers their things together, and we start walking home

But on the walk back, I saw Smalls looking down and being quiet, I slowed my pace down, and he was behind the group

"What's on your mind, Smalls?" I asked."Oh, what? " he asked, sounding vague

"You're quiet and distant. What's up? " I asked, repeating myself in a more comprehensible way

"Oh well, it's just that Phillips guy kinda shook me, you know," he says

"Oh, trust me, kid, the longer you know him, the more you wish you didn't know him," he laughs,

The more I got to know Smalls, the more I wonder what i'd do if I never met him

Now I know me and Benny were close, but that friendship took years to build, what I had with Smalls felt like a friendship you've had for a lifetime but we'd only know each other for about 2 months

He just understood me the way Benny did, which is what made me like him so much, Smalls is such an amazing friend, and I'm glad he's in my life

Along with all the boys, but mostly Benny and Smalls

My thoughts were interrupted by Smalls cutting them off as he said goodbye with a wave

"So, what now?" Benny asked. "Uhm, I'm not sure," I said as we stood in front of his house in silence

"Do you wanna come in?" he asked

"Well, i'd thought you'd never ask," I said as we both walked up his pathway leading to his front door

He opens the door and sees his mom and little sister in the kitchen

"Y/nnnn, I missed youuu," Eliana said, running up to me with open arms

I accept her hug and lift her up, placing her on my hip, I walk over to Adriana

"Hola chica, ¿como had estado?" she asks." Estoy bien ¿y tu?"

"Por muy bueno que sea, de todos modos, ¿has comido hoy? me and Eliana were about to make some Gorditas if you two wanna help, " she said

"Yes, of course," I said with pure excitement

I absolutely love Adriana's cooking. It always tastes amazing, and why not help with it

After we made and ate the Gorditas, me and Benny went up to his room, and he sat on the bed as I sat at his desk

We stated talking about the most random things for a while, and I look at the clock resting on his desk reading 8:53

Maybe I should go home and get rest

"Ok, Benny, I'm gonna go home now," I said, grabbing my stuff

"Ok, hermosa, let me walk you to the door," he said, getting up

Oh well, that was nice of him to do

Me and him walk to the door as I open it, and it's pretty dark outside

"Uh, actually, let me just walk you home," he said with uncertainty

"Are you sure?" I ask. "Yeah, it's the least I can do,"

Why was he doing all these things all of a sudden

We walk out the door and start walking to my house, which isn't far at all

We walk in silence, not uncomfortable, but not necessarily comforting

We arrive at my house, and we both wave goodbye to each other

As I walk into my house, I go to my room exhausted from today

The second my body hits my bed, I start to slowly drift away to sleep
