WHILE THE TWO LOCKED UP teens filled the black phone with dirt, like Robin had told them to and as they got prepared to try and escape this place once and for all, outside the basement things were quite.. well, you 'll see.
Gwendolyn Blake had never given up on finding her brother. Ever since Avery and Finney went missing, she believed that her duty was to find them alive before the cops found them, dead. She prayed to God so he could have mercy on the two teens, she asked for dreams, and she got them, but she could never understand them, they never made any sense. Until a few days ago. Gwen had gotten a dream, and in that dream there was Vance Hopper. Her dream was on how he got arrested at the store, but then the police took him somewhere, took him to a house, a house Gwen had never seen before.
When Gwen woke up from her dream, she instantly grabbed her bike and started pedaling around town. It was a rainy day, drops of cold water were dripping down her bright yellow coat, but she didn't care. She searched for the tree she had seen in her dreams, for the door she had seen, and the number of the house that she was looking for. She desperately searched for anything that looked familiar to her, but she couldn't find anything. She didn't find anything that looked like the house in her dream, or the tree in her dreams. Nothing, absolutely nothing.
Gwen was desperate, and she couldn't find the house or anything helpful. The girl had been pedaling for a few minutes, but she wasn't giving up. When the girl looked infront of her there were five boys infront of her, just standing there. The boys were covered in blood and bruises, as if they had been beaten up, or something worse.. This scene spooked the girl. Not wanting to run over the hurt boys, she made a quick turn on her bike, but due to the rain and the sudden turn, her bicycle fell to the side, bringing her along with it. She let out a scream, after all she had just seen five bloodied boys and she didn't know what that meant.
When the girl got herself back together, she turned her head to look at where the boys were a few seconds before, only to find out that they weren't there anymore, they had completely dissapeared. It was as if they were ghosts.
Gwen then quickly got herself together and stood up. When she was about to get on her bike, she noticed a familiar house, right infront of her. It was the same house from her dream, the same house she was desperately searching for in this cold rain. The gate infront of the house was exactly the same, the leafless tree she had seen multiple times in her head, the door that she had seen Finney banging up against, begging someone to help him, and the number. The number Vance Hopper had carved into a boy's arm, the number she had seen in her dreams, 7741. Gwen knew what this meant, she knew she found the house she had been searching for, the house Finney and Avery were locked in, the house where other boys had been killed, and the house where the Grabber lived. The girl didn't know what to do, she was scared to say the least. She wanted to run inside the house, get her friend and brother out of there, but she knew that was a stupid idea and it would most definetly be a mistake. She couldn't go in there alone, she wouldn't be able to face the Grabber alone, she was just a kid.
So, she chose to make the smart decision and got onto her bike and started pedaling back home. She put all her strength into her legs, her feet and legs had never pedaled faster, and she moved like lightning, wanting to get back home as quick as possible, because now, she had a plan. And she was gonna save her brother.
...
Meanwhile, things weren't looking good for the locked up teens, because The Grabber wasn't actually working, or doing anything good. He was buying supplies. Supplies to kill the two teens locked in his basement, supplies to hide their bodies.
But what the teens didn't know, or something that probably nobody knew, was that they could be saved, saved by someone who wasn't Gwen. Right upstais, right ontop of where the teens were locked up, there was a man named Max, and maybe he could be the teens' last hope.
While Max was doing cocaine, and looking at the board he had made about the case of The Grabber, he noticed something, something obvious that he had never noticed before. He stood up from the couch, walking towards the board slowly, and that's when he knew. All this time, the kidnappings have been happening close to the neighbourhood he lived in, The Grabber needed a garage for his van, his brother had a garage, and he had one thing that he never really noticed or cared about, but realised he should have, the basement. Max had never visited the basement once, and when he asked about it, his brother would just dismiss the idea. But now, things were clicking for him, and his brother wasn't here to say no to his request. Maybe it was the cocaine getting into his head and making him slightly delusional, but maybe it wasn't, and he needed to check if he's theory was right.
Since Max's brother was not home, he decided to take that advantage, he needed to check the basement, check if his theory is actually true. He slowly walked towards the basement door, rethinking his choices. But when he was about to open the door, he stopped himself. Did he really want to open that door? Maybe he was just acting crazy, maybe it was the cocaine's side effects. And if it actually was true, he wouldn't know how to deal with it, after all it was his brother. If it was true, that would mean his own blood killed many innocent kids, did he really want to find out about that? And he wasn't even sure if it was true. At this point, Max was rethinking his decisions, rethinking his choices. But deep down, he knew he needed to open that door. He knew he needed to find out the truth, even if it was bad, even if he would have to rethink his entire brother. If it was really true and there were still two kids locked up inside that basement, he needed to save them, and he knew that. He had to do the right thing.
...
Finney and Avery were sitting down on the floor. They didn't have much to do, just wait. Wait for the Grabber to arrive, so they could put their plan into action, their last chance of escaping into action.
Avery didn't know what was going to happen next. There was a high chance she wouldn't be getting out of here, and that she would die just like all the other victims. She tried not to think like that, she tried to ignore the negative and try to think about the positive and good things, maybe she would get out, there was a chance where she and Finney would escape together, and all those troubles and all the kidnappings would finally end. She wanted to escape, nobody would ever understand how much she wanted to make it out alive.
The girl looked to her side, and found the prettiest boy she had ever seen sitting down next to her, Finney Blake. Who would've thought that the prettiest girl in school would fall for the biggest geek in school while they were kidnapped and locked up together. She looked at him and couldn't believe herself for not looking at him before. Before getting kidnapped, she never really looked at him. I mean, she found him nice, and sweet, and an incredible person, but she never looked at him the way she did now. If a few days ago somebody told her that she would be head over heels for this boy, she would've laughed and called that person crazy. But here she was, completely in love with him, even though she knew there was a chance they were going to die, she didn't want to die, she didn't want their story to end like this, not when it was just getting started. She wanted to tell him that. Tell him everything that went through her head about him, just in case they wouldn't make it.
"Hey, Finn?"
"Yeah?" The boy looked at her, the girl could see he was stressed and anxious, after all this was probably their last chance to escape and kill the Grabber.
"I know this wasn't a great experience, in fact it was horrible and I wish we had never gotten kidnapped, but I'm also glad we did." The girl cringed at her choice of words, hearing how it actually sounded . She didn't want it to sound as if she was glad they were kidnapped, but at that moment, she couldn't think of any better way to put the words in that sentence.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, if we hadn't gotten kidnapped, I don't think I would have ever realised what an amazing person you are, Finn. Our entire time here you helped me and you were just so brave and sweet and I don' t know what I would've done without you. And I think that while we were here, it helped me see how amazing you are, and even in this circumstances, I fell for you. So, I guess what I'm saying is that, if I had to be kidnapped with someone, I'm glad it was with you." The girl couldn't look into Finney's eyes, she didn't know what his response would be like, what if he thought she was a maniac for thinking like this? But what she didn't know was that he was actually looking at her with the sweetest smile ever, it was as if he had literal hearts in his eyes. He understood completely what the girl meant. The boy only had one thing on his mind about her, and he needed to say it out loud to her.
"I love you, Avery. I know I shouldn't be saying this right now, but I do. I love every little thing about you and more. And I know there is a chance we won't make it out of here, but I will try so hard so we can get out of here, so we can get out together." Avery didn't know how to react, he had just told her he loved her. But she knew how she felt, she felt exactly the same, she loved him and she didn't want what they had to end. She smiled at him, the biggest smile she had ever given the past few days.
But before they could do or say anything else, Avery noticed the phone starting to move. It started to breathe just like it had done once with her. Her smile faded slowly and she didn't take her eyes off the breathing phone.
"Finn." The girl called.
"What?" The boy noticed her smile had faded, and the serious expression on her face, so his smile and mood quickly faded too. The girl simply gestured her head towards the phone, and Finney spun his head to where she was pointing.
The two teens stood up and walked towards the phone. This could only mean one thing, and they definetly knew what. Before they could say anything else, the lights turned on, only proving their theory was right. The Grabber was here.
Finney picked up the phone, which he would now have to use as a weapon, while Avery just looked at the door, waiting for that horrible man to come inside. She didn't have any weapons, so she was going to have to use her hands. The two gave death stares to the metal door, not blinking once, just waiting for it to open and for the man they hated the most in the world to reveal himself. Finney clenched his jaw in anger when he remembered everything the man had done to him, Avery, Robin and all his other victims. He knew what he had to do. He was going to end that son of a bitch.
"It all comes down to this, Finn." Avery spoke, not daring to take her eyes away from the door.
"Let's kill this fucking asshole."
