AS SOON AS FINNEY felt the girl in his arms slip away from his touch, his heart stopped. Avery Brown was lying on the floor, her clothes covered in her own blood, her hand covered in blood, and her eyelids shut.

Finney rushed to the girl he loved, kneeling down next to her. He held her in his arms, shaking her and desperately trying to get her to wake up.

"Avery! Avery!" He yelled repetitively to the girl, tears falling down his cheeks. Gwen didn't know what to do, she just stood there with tears in her eyes, paralysed.

"Help! Somebody help!" The boy yelled as loud as he could, tears now rolling down his cheeks like waterfalls. It didn't take long for the police to notice that the boy they had been looking for was standing right there, alive, yelling for help. But then, they soon noticed why he was begging for help. In his lap, layed the beautiful girl they had been searching for. The police and detectives that had gone inside the house searching for the teens, quickly came running out as soon as they heard yelling.

Finney looked down at the girl he was holding, brushing her hair out of her pale face.

"No, no, no, Aves. Don't do this, don't do this to me, please!" The boy cried, tears running fast down his face. He couldn't lose her, he wasn't going to let her die.

"Come on, Aves! Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" He kept shaking the girl's body, desperately trying to get her to wake up, but she didn't move an inch. Her eyes were still closed shut and her body was limp and pale.

"Don't die on me now, Aves. Please!"

Finally, the police and the medics had arrived where the injured teen was, they tried to get Avery out of Finney's hold, but he wouldn't let go. He didn't want to. He wanted to hold her forever and he didn't want them to take her away from him. He knew that they were the only ones that could help, but he just couldn't let go. His brain wasn't funcitoning and he didn't know what to do, the only thing he did know was that he couldn't let the girl he loved die.

"Avery, please wake up. You can't leave me here, please. Look, we did it. Now, please wake up, come on." Multiple tears ran down his cheeks as he imagined a life without Avery, a life where she was dead, because of him. He couldn't let her go, he wanted to stay with her, apologise to her and bring her back, bring her back to the Avery she always was. The alive, funny, sweet and kind Avery Brown that everybody knew.

But he had to let her go. He had to let the medics do their jobs, or else he was never going to see the girl again, the girl he knew so well and loved. He softly let go of the girl, and the medics quickly picked her up and rushed her to the ambulance. Finney sat on the floor, not ready to move or leave. Tears were still running down his cheeks as he stared at the ambulance with a blurry vision as they took the girl he loved. Gwen placed a hand on her brother's shoulder for comfort, tears in her eyes as she was so young and had just had an awful experience. The two watched carefully as the ambulance quickly accelerated and left the scene. Finney turned his body and hugged his sister, seeking for comfort as he couldn't stand to look at the girl he loved being taken away from him so soon.

The detectives quickly got to the boy. They wanted to help him and comfort him, but it wasn't their job. They needed to know what happened to the other kids, the other victims, and Finney knew that.

"The basement." He simply said emotionless when he pulled away from the hug, not looking at anyone other than his hands. His bloody hands. Blood. Her blood. Avery's blood.

With no hesitation, the detectives and some police officers ran inside the house while two other police officers got Finney to stand up. As soon as he did, Gwen embraced him in another hug, holding onto her brother for dear life as they walked together. Gwen thought about Avery and if she was alive, and he thought about her brother. She was worried for him, she knew he loved her and she missed him so much and cared about him deeply, she didn't know how he was going to react if the girl he's had a crush on for years was dead. She didn't know if he would still be the same if that happened.

Finney only had one thing on his mind. The only thing that he could think about was the girl that had just been taken away from him. He didn't know what was going to happen to the girl, and he was so deeply afraid that she was going to die, that she was going to die because of him. That was his biggest fear, and he begged and hoped that it wouldn't become true. Because the truth was, he couldn't live without her. He needed her, he needed Avery.

...

The police had taken the two siblings to an ambulance to get Finney checked up on any injuries. But once again, Finney couldn't take the image of the girl laying in his arms, her skin pale and her clothes covered in blood because of her injury out of his head. That image would haunt him forever, and he tried to keep that image out because all that image brought upon him was the feeling of guilt. The feeling of how he thought it was all his fault, how her getting hurt was all because of him. He blamed himself over and over again, wondering what he could've done differently. But the truth was, there was nothing he could've done differently, but at these moments all he could think think about were all the possibilities on how he could have saved her. Saved her from possibly dying, saved her from getting hurt.

He was quickly snapped out of his thoughts when he saw a figure approaching him. A familiar figure. He realised it was his dad, and as soon as he noticed that, he straightened his posture. Even though his dad wasn't the best to him or his sister, deep, deep down they both still loved him, and Finney had missed him these couple of days.

Their father quickly hugged Finney as tight as he could, savouring every moment of it.

"I'm so sorry. I-I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Their father kept repeating over and over again, begging for forgiveness from his kids.

It will take a little while for the two siblings to forgive their father, but at the moment none of them were holding anything against him. Deep down they all loved each other, even if it was really deep down.

Their father went on his knees infront of them, begging for their forgiveness, but while he did that, Finney saw two people a few feet away from him. It was a man and a woman, the woman was crying histerically while the father held in tears and talked to the detective infront of them. Finney instantly knew who they were, and he felt the feeling of guilt come rushing back to him. He lowered his head in shame as his eyes continued to stare at his hands. His hands were now clean, the paramedics had gotten rid of the blood. Blood. Her blood. Avery's blood.

It was the Brown's. Avery's parents. Finney didn't want to look at them, but he couldn't help it, so he did. He looked at them for a while, looking at their actions. Avery's mother cried into her husband's chest as they hugged each other, and even though the man looked as if he was strong and was holding on pretty well, Finney knew it was just a cover. Because deep down, the man was just as devastated as the woman, and he was holding himself from breaking down because he needed to be strong for his wife. He needed to be strong for his daughter, and Finney knew he had to be strong too. He had to be strong for Avery.

...

A few hours had gone by, Avery's parents were no where to be seen. Finney was exhausted and he just wanted to go home, but he couldn't do that. Since Avery had to be taken away to the hospital, Finney had to stay and report everything to the detectives and reporters all alone. He wasn't complaining because he knew it was worth it since he was doing it for Avery, he was still blaming himself for what had happened to the girl, and he didn't think he guilt would stop anytime soon.

He was currently sitting inside a van, his head laying ontop of Gwen's shoulder as she layed her head ontop of his and fell asleep. Finney couldn't sleep, even though he was exhausted and he hadn't slept at all in the past few days, he just couldn't fall asleep. The image of the events that had happened earlier kept replaying over and over again inside his head every time he closed his eyes and each and every single time he blamed himself for it. His mind was also occupied by the thoughts of Avery and how she was. Finney had no idea what happened to her after she had been taken away. Even though he wanted to believe that the girl was fine, that she made it out alive and they were going to see each other soon, he couldn't. After seeing the state she was in while she was being taken away, the pale skin, the dark circles around her eyes, the colour of her veins being visible due to her pale skin, the bloodied clothes, the deep wound in her stomach and the blood filling her mouth, he thought it was over, that they were over. There wasn't going to be any "Finney and Avery" anymore, there couldn't be, if one of them was dead. He needed to get that thought out of his head.

Suddenly, Detective Wright appeared infront of the two siblings. When Finney noticed his presence, he slowly straightened his posture, making his sister wake up from her sleep and slowly start to open her eyes. The detective looked at Finney.

"Finney, we just got some news from the hospital.." Spoke the detective, instantly making Finney and Gwen perk up.

Finney didn't know what the detctive was going to say, he hoped it was something good, even though the chances of it being good were low, he still hoped it was. He was dying with anticipation.

"How is she? Is she okay?!" Finney asked searching for an answer. The detective simply smiled back at him.

"She's fine, kid."

Finney's entire mood changed within a second, he felt so relieved to hear that. He had never been so thankful or happier in his entire life. The girl he had spent days stuck with, the girl he's had a crush on for years, the girl he loved, she was alive. She was okay, and everything was going to be okay. He needed to see her. He felt desperate four her touch, to see her face and see that she was okay, to see that nothing was his fault and that she had made it out of there alive, just like him.

"She's alive?" The boy asked, letting out a breath he didn't even know he was holding in.

"She's alive."
