Jeongin didn't quite know what was going on that morning.
At first glance, everything seemed to be in order, but the young Ravenclaw hadn't missed the building tension between the Houses of Slytherin and Gryffindor: it was to be expected, that was true (the match would take place that weekend), but it looked to him as if the Slytherins were both very mad and very intimidated. It was strange a very weird way to describe it, when he really came to think of it; but the Ravenclaw genuinely felt like there was no other way to describe it.
"They must've had a bad training session yesterday", flatly answered Hyunjin (who happened to be sitting right next to him that morning at breakfast) when Jeongin shared his worries. "Not that I'd be surprised, anyway โ Yeji looked so tense, it's a miracle she hasn't fallen off her fucking broom".
Jeongin looked at him in confusion: what could have his sister possibly done fro him to talk about her with that tone?
"Don't mind him", reassured him Changbin, who as always was sitting right next to the friend. "He's just mad at her for... ahem... telling him off? He's still not used to the feeling" and he patted the Ravenclaw, as if to comfort him.
"She threatened me!", protested Hyunjin. "She had no right to!"
"What?" mumbled Jeongin, even more puzzled than before.
"What Jinnie's trying to say", tried to explain Changbin, "is that they had an argument yesterday andโ wait though" he looked at Jeongin: "weren't you in the common room yesterday before dinner? Didn't you hear?"
Jeongin shook his head: "Nah, I was in the library. Studying. Doing homework. Normal things", he shrugged his shoulders: the two Ravenclaws lived a way too exciting life to even consider that an option. "So yeah", he continued in an attempt to change topic. "In two day's time there's the first match of the season. Who're you rooting for?"
"This time โ Gryffindor", replied Hyunjin. "May Slytherin do bad".
Changbin rolled his eyes. "I don't think there's much rooting to be made. For me, the winner's quite obvious: Slytherin are objectively the best at the moment".
"How can you say that!", pouted his best friend. "You are on our House's Quidditch team! We ought to be more positive!"
"I am not being pessimistic", answered Changing, a quite annoyed voice tone, "I am being realistic. There's a difference".
Jeongin shook his head: Quidditch matches always had the ability to either lift or drown everyone's mood in the blink of an eye.
Discouraged, he decided to go find the only person he knew of that didn't give a damn about the wizarding sport.
"Hi Seungmin", he greeted as he let himself fall beside the Slytherin. "Everything's good?"
"Overall, I'd say yes", he answered, his hand in front of his mouth to prevent the younger from seeing a wide yawn, "only a little sleepy. This night I went to sleep at like โ three".
"Why so late?" Jeongin couldn't imagine sleeping less than seven hours per night: sleep was a sacred time, and must be treated accordingly.
"Well, there was this little problem with a student", explained the elder, "and I had to help".
"What kind of problem?", asked Jeongin.
"Ahem.. let's just say that he was feeling quite sick", said Seungmin, "and I helped bring him to the nursery".
"What do you mean by help?", inquired the Ravenclaw: "couldn't you do it yourself?"
"Well..." Jeongin was happy to find out that Seungmin was indeed hiding something: the Slytherin never stuttered. "He was a heavy dude, and my poor hands couldn't manage... hehe".
Jeongin shook his head: what was up with everyone that day, hiding stuff left and right, acting like awkard fools...
"And you? Why are you so tired?", he suddenly asked Seungmin's friend, Minho, sitting right beside the younger Slytherin.
The Slytherin's Seeker jumped when he heard him being addressed. "Who? When? What happened?", he asked quickly. "I swear I did what I had to!", he then added.
"Why are you all so weird!" screamed Jeongin, shaking his head and getting up: before losing all his hopes, he still had one last stop to make.
"Good morning Lixie", he said as he stopped next to his Hufflepuff friend. "Are you okay?"
"Yeet!" answered Felix, turning towards the Ravenclaw: he did it so fast his bowl of cereal flipped and poured its contents all over the table.
"Felix, not again!" protested a fellow Hufflepuff: Jeongin believed her name was Lia. With a quick wand movement, she cleared the mess Felix had made.
"Thanks Lia", muttered the younger Hufflepuff, in a very sleepy voice.
Oh good, thought Jeongin. Another sleeping mess. What the fuck happened last night?
"Is it possible to know what you were up to yesterday?", he asked, unable to hide his annoyance. "You have a test today? You stayed up playing chess? You found some green-looking slimy talking creature?" he fired-asked, half-mockingly but also with a very clear undertone of irritation.
As soon as the Ravenclaw finished talking, Felix shifted, as though uncomfortable. "Talking creature?" he asked, laughing. "Of course not! Why would I!"
Oh, brilliant! Jeongin had had enough. Another one hiding his secret from me. me! they all know I'm the best at keeping secrets here... There really is something fishy going on...
