Changbin was trying to study โ€“ and by trying, he meant trying. Definitely not doing.

"Will you please shut up, just for a few minutes?", he begged Hyunjin, who was sitting on his side, being his usual noisy self while chatting with some other Ravenclaws.

"Me?", Hyunjin snorted: he clearly didn't like the idea. "Why should I? It's not my fault you've decided to waste your time", he commented, adressing all the books and notebooks Changbin had filled the table with.

Changbin rolled his eyes. "You know perfectly well why I am doing it!"

The boy didn't say anything else, because there was no need to: it had happened, unluckily, that during their last period of the day before (Divination), their professor (Sibilla Trelawney) had asked Changbin to show the class his star chart โ€“ only thing Changbin hadn't done it.

It had been a combination of both the late-night joke they had planned (that had taken up quite a lot of time), and of the fact that he just found it too useless that had led the Ravenclaw to not even get started on the homework. Why would anyone need to know their star chart? Nonsense.

"Bad Changbinnie", mocked the friend. "Who doesn't do his start charts! Little ickle baby Seo, we don't do that here!"

"Shut up", repeated the boy. "And don't act like you've done it. Wanna show me your work?" snapped back Changbin, still pissed at the fact that the friend had managed to avoid the scolding.

Hyunjin tsked. "I see no need to waste my time and effort into such stupid things. Next time I'll just tell her I'm bound to die from a terrible, horrifying death. I'm sure she'll appreciate it".

Changbin rolled his eyes once again: this time not at Hyunjin, but at professor Trelawney โ€“ that old Hag (as they called her) seemed to have a strange fetish for horrible endings to beings' lives; wich he did find quite worrying, but at the same time, knowing was enough for him to know how to deliver what she was sure the woman would judge a 'thoroughly satisfying work'.

"Don't you dare use the the duel's loss", he in fact intimated to the friend, while scribbling on his chart. "Nor the flue. I've got them planned for respectively tuesday and saturday".

"Dang it!", was the friend's response. "I'll have to come up with something else then!"

Changbin went back to his schoolwork, but the focus he had regained didn't last long: a few moments afterwards, in fact, a scream pierced the air within the tower.

The duo could've also goy scared, but unlike their House-mates they knew too well what that meant.

"What do you want now?", asked Hyunjin, half pissed half embarassed, at the sight of his older sister.

Yeji took her time to answer โ€“ she placed her broom carefully on the table where the two were sitting and got herself a big and cozy armchair.

By the looks of it, she was about to go to her Quidditch trainings. Changbin wondered why she had decided to come visit her brother now, when there would still be dinner to talk.

Hyunjin spoke out his thoughts: "Can I please be made aware of why my lovely sister has decided to break into my own, personal space, invading my privacy and that of other Ravenclaws..."

"Cut it Jinnie", she requested, taking another spearmint bubbly gum to chew. "And stop being such a drama queen, God. I simply entered your common room".

"Well, you got the point", exclaimed the boy. "My common room. With my things. And my friends. And my secretsโ€“"

"Good", she cut in again before the Ravenclaw could continue, wich made Hyunjin even more pissed.

Changbin had stopped writing the moment he'd heard screaming, and was now listening closely: he loved seeing the two Hwangs fight โ€“ Yeji was in fact the only one who actually held any sort of power on the boy โ€“ who hated it with a passion.

"I see you got to the point sooner than I had imagined. Your secrets", she explained, her cat-like eyes as eloquent as could be.

"It has not gone unnoticed", she went on, her gaze fixed on the brother, "that a strange-looking flood of water immersed completely the first floor last night, and a girl your age nearly drowned. Now, I came to ask if you knew anything about the matter".

Changbin moved uncomfortably on his chair: she knew. He didn't know whether to feel ashamed for his actions or amused for Hyunjin's reaction.

The boy was in fact noticeably struggling. "Nearly drowned you say?", he giggled awkardly. "But there shouldn't have been any problem there, we specifically chose a corridor we knew was quite unused during night patrollings โ€“ I mean, come on! Who would specifically choose to take a walk to their History of Magic classroom? It was well thought out Yeji, I assure you, it was supposed to happen in the morning, when everyone was awake and the teachers aroundโ€“"

"But it didn't, you moroon!" she yelled angrily. "Listen Jinnie, I'm not here to have you expelled or put in detention", she started, and was interrupted by his "You'd better". "But I must warn you to be careful, or play around with less dangerous stuff. Have I made myself understood?"

Her tone was so authoritarian that Changbin was almost tempted to kneel down in front of her and beg her pardon in a fashion thanes of old legendary poems would've certainly approved of.

"Iโ€“", tried to say Hyunjin.

"Have I made myself understood?", repeated her.

"Yes" weakly answered the guy at last, defeated.

Changbin could feel she was going to have him swear as well, so he decided he'd instead pretend to be non-existent, hiding behind the great block of books he had carried to the table.

"Changbin?" asked Yeji, nontheless. "I can see you, it's no use hiding".

Dang it, thought the boy, but instead diligently answered: "Yes, mum".

Yeji got up at last, lifting her Nimbus 4000 from the table. "Good to know. One more stupid act like that one, and you're going straight to the Headmistress' office. Okay?"

"Okay", they muttered in unison.

"Perfect. Now I really gotta go, trainings are about to start. Wish me luck!", and she got out as fast as she'd got in.

"Luck", mumbled Hyunjin after she was gone. "Luck. I hope she'll fall off her broom and break her right arm, thatโ€“"

"No you don't". Changbin knew the friend didn't really mean it, but he still felt the need to remind him. "That has arguably not been our best move, let's be honest. Yeji was just worried".

"Yeah, worried about that other Gryffindor she's crushing on..."

"I don't know what you're talking about", replied Changbin. "I've never seen Yeji crush on anybody".

Hyunjin dismissed his words. "Yeah, but with this one's different, trust me". He sighed: "but I do have to admit that you're right, the both of you. Next time we'll have to be more careful".

"Wise words", commented Changbin, happy that his friend's anger was finally starting to fade off.

"But still, we haven't been totally careless!", considered Hyunjin. "I mean, it's a fact that no one ever goes in there, c'mon! Who would ever risk meeting Binns?"

Changbin had been wondering about that quite a lot during the past day, but still hadn't come up with a satisfying answer: he knew of no one who would ever willingly pass from there; not even Flinch, the key keeper.

"It is very strange", he said. "But maybe they simply knew that there was water? I mean โ€“ a Water Ball?"

"Someone's got a Water Ball detector!", screamed Hyunjin.

"You know such a thing doesn't exist", reminded him Changbin, rolling his eyes. "It's more likely they simply wanted to get something from the classroomโ€“"

"No one ever does it", commented the friend.

"Okay, perfect!" Changbin was starting to get quite annoyed. "Than it means that someone knew we had this joke planned and wanted to get us caught!"

"Binnie", said Hyunjin, holding his breath. "You are a genius! Someone knew, it's clear! We must find out who this is โ€“ we can't allow them to ruin all of our pranks!"

"What do you suggest doing then? Tend 'em a trap?" commented Changbin sarcastically.

"Sounds brilliant!" agreed the other, not grasping or pretending not to grasp the sarcasam. "Have any ideas?"

Changbin was about to make another ironic remark, but the friend was already so involved he ended up getting transported as well. And so they spent the rest of the day plotting, whispering and planning: everything must be flawless, and they must be prepared.

(And safe to say, when they finally got into bed, the star chart was still dwelling on the dark wooden table, unfinished and forgotten).
