Jisung had never been more scared in his entire life. Not even when he'd got his first insufficient mark in Astrology and had had to tell his parents.
The guilt Jisung felt was surely not doing him any better: Felix had followed him only to do him a favor, and now he was going to get punished and it was all his fault.
But, most of all, the Gryffindor was intimidated: he would've understood if he had to be punished, but why โ why โ did Lee Minho have to be the person to do so?
Shit shit shit, he kept thinking. You sneaked in here to see him play, not to see him beat you up! and Felix! terror was quickly taking over.
"Maybe we should run...", whispered the Hufflepuff, but his was a useless remedy: two seconds later, and the Seeker had reached their dark hiding corner.
"Well, goodnight" he said in a friendly tone. "Enjoyed the trainings?"
If Jisung could, he would've disapparated on the spot. Words didn't manage to come out, so he just stayed quiet, his eyes fixed on the Slytherin.
"Listen, we're really sorry..." tried instead Felix, unsureness clear in his voice โ which Jisung could well comprehend: the two had no excuse that would keep, they just didn't.
"Not any sorrier than I will be if you don't listen to me now", cut him off Minho, his voice taking an unexpectedly practical tone. Jisung sent a very confused look towards the boy's direction: what did he mean?
"Look, let's try not to fake things: you sneaked in to spy us, most likely", continued the Seeker, sparing the two friends from mumbling out useless apologies. "But you're lucky, because no one but me noticed you: now, we don't want the others to see you, or they'll get nervous, and you โ well, and you will get beaten".
Jisung nodded automatically: those words were the most sensed ones he'd heard in a while, and he also appreciated how Minho had interpreted their goal โ there was no need to explain the elder he had not decided to go see the Slyherins practice to pay attention to the strategies they would train.
"So, should we run off? Like โ right now?" inquired Felix, getting up as he talked.
Woah, boy be obsessed with running Jisung found himself thinking: he was sure that before that night he'd never heard the friend mention anything concerning physical activities.
Minho shook his head. "You'd be too slow โ I know my teammates, they can be pretty slow at changing sometimes, but not that slow. Let's do it like this โ I am flying you to the Owlery, and then you get back to your dorms".
Jisung wanted to cry: why did he have to be so just and generous? "You really don't have to help us, we have misbehaved, you shouldn't try to save-" he said out of nowhere, not even truly knowing what he was talking about.
It luckily only took Felix to get the Gryffindor back to reality, who did it swiftly by knocking him (not even so gently) with his left elbow: "Have you grown mad?" asked the Hufflepuff, "he's trying to help! I'm sorry Ji, but if I can avoid it I ain't getting beaten up".
At that, Minho bursted out a soft laugh. Jisung listened as its sound filled the air: his voice itself is a miracle... Oh lord, am I whipped.
"You remind me of Seungmin, kid", Minho told the Hufflepuff, a big smile now plastered on his face. "Now get on the broom, really, or else we will be caught like complete fools".
Although unexperienced, with a help from the Slytherin Felix managed to get on the broom and find a stable position.
"We'll be back in the blink of an eye", said Minho referring to the Gryffindor โ and in fact, a few seconds later, they were already almost on the other end of the pitch, a small dot disappearing into the darkness.
Jisung โ unluckily for him โ did not have too much time to recompose himself: he quickly analyzed what was bound to happen within the next few minutes: he'd have to get on Minho's broom and wrap his arms around the boy's waist โ got it. He'd have to speak out a few words of thankfulness ("Oh Lord... hopefully I won't stutter too much!") โ almost got it. He'd possibly have to look comfortable and nonchalant while being alone with his crush โ definitely not got it.
The Gryffindor was still immersed in his own thoughts when a sudden shadow flashed behind him, making his cloak float a few feet off the ground, twirling. He would've have screamed, had he not risked being exposed to a bunch of athletic Slyths.
"Got Felix safe and whole", he was informed by Minho as the boy landed softly on his right. "Now we're only missing you. Get on fast, c'mon".
Remember the points, remember the points... tried to think Jisung, as he was being helped by the expert hands of the Slytherin to mount safely onto the broom.
"Y-you have a n-ni-nice broom" stuttered Jisung, as Minho sealed his arms around his waist.
"Thank you, it was a gift from my father", answered the Slytherin. "Feeling safe? Can we take off?"
"S-sure", answered the younger, sealing his arms even more โ hoping it'd not block the other's breathing.
"Are you scared of heights?", asked in fact the ladder after that they'd taken off. Jisung couldn't see it, but he imagined a smile must've appeared on the boy's face.
The thought was enough to make him feel warm and fuzzy inside โ so that he almost forgot to answer the question he'd been asked: "Yes โ no, wait! No, I mean no" he managed to say. "I don't fear heights โ it's just a strange feeling, soaring at night" he also added, to justify his first hesitations.
"I see โ but it's nice nevertheless, isn't it? And don't worry, I was simply asking because I am", went on to explain the Slyherin, chuckling.
"You're scared?" asked Jisung in disbelief, "but if you are the best flier in the school!" those last words came natural, and he silently cursed himself for saying them โ be nonchalant, damn it!
"Thanks for the compliment", replied the other: from the voice tone he seemed pretty amused. "Felix said the same thing too โ one ought to think you are really thankful".
Jisung could feel his cheeks getting red, and was never so grateful to his current position for blocking the view to the outside world: but he still found the strenght to reply, because he did not like how Minho had taken his compliment. "It's not only because you're saving our butts!" he in fact protested heatedly, "you're really an amazing flier โ today's trainings really showed that, you're seriously better than anyone I've ever seen before โ I mean, after Hogwarts you could easily get accepted into any team you want-" the flow of words Jisung had never thought he would manage to get out of his mouth was suddenly interrupted by their landing on the owlery's safe floor.
The various owls that filled the room only gave them a few suspicious looks, before returning to minding their own buisness.
"Hi Ji!" exclaimed Felix happily as he saw them entering. "Made it here safely as well, I see. Minho-hyung is the fastest flier ever, isn't he?"
"Stop that!" said the Slytherin, half annoyed half amused, "I am but a simple player in the school's team, and you can stop pretending".
"Pretending?" asked Felix in confusion, "what pretending and pretending! You're amazing! Your speed? unbelievable. The technique? flawless! Your trajectories? Damn man, they-"
"Felix!" interrumpted Jisung half-screaming half-whispering. He could not believe how embarassing the friend could be at times...
Minho waved the compliment off as if it had been nothing. "Okay okay", he said at the end. "But now, for a serious talk โ I've helped you today..."
"But you won't help us tomorrow", completed Jisung, understanding immediately where the conversation was going. "Again, we are both extremely sorry for sneaking in", he then added, hopeful that Felix would get the hint and not contest that 'we'.
Luckily for the Gryffindor, the friend agreed: "Absolutely. And we also promise we won't tell anybody!"
"Yeah, sure!" exclaimed Jisung: he did not care if it was not going to sound very convincing, he knew at once that everything he'd seen that night would never escape his lips.
"Well thanks I guess, appreciated", said the Slytherin bowing slightly, "but don't be surprised if by Sunday we do change a few moves", he then added suspiciously.
The boy turned around to take off and return towards the changing rooms, but suddenly stopped to look back at the two (who were waiting for him to depart before going back to their own dorms): "What โ what did you say?" the Slytherin asked in confusion.
Jisung and Felix looked at each other, puzzled: what had they said?
