Writing:

It started with a hotel.

It was followed by a broken elevator.

There were monsters, entities that wished to hunt you down.

Why? You didn't know. Did you survive? So far, yes.

Were you going to survive? Who knew.

All you knew now was that you were walking down a sketchy hallway. Your lighter in hand, prepared for any dark rooms, hoping not to encounter the weird smiling face with black goo that formed into squid-like tentacles. It was annoying as it was ugly.

You were unnerved by the watching eyes that had burst through the wallpaper on the walls. The black slitted pupils tracking your every movement as you continued through each room that just so happened to make the lights flicker.

On more than one occasion had you mistaken the flickering light as a sign of Rush, the screaming gray-ish blue entity that enjoyed breaking every lightbulb in its path.

The eyes were crowding the walls, each and every one staring right back at you. Turning around you reached out for the door at the end of the hallway.

But a shattering crash stopped you in your tracks. Stepping back before swiveling your body to turn toward the loud noise you spotted the origin.

A chandelier, broken, and still ablaze. The rug caught fire easily, the flames leaping and curling as it burnt the rug. You were about to run when a puddle of black goo formed on the opposite end of the rug you were currently on.

A black hand gaining leverage on the ground, pulling its upper body from the inky puddle it was rising from. A black silhouette, faceless, with little detail. Well, somewhat faceless, you watched as a large eye, much like the ones on the walls, opened on the head of the entity.

Its eye locked onto your smaller figure, and without a second thought it propelled itself forward with the hand that was already planted into the floor. Its claws only helping it move a great distance in a short amount of time.

The rest of its body was pulled from the muck pile on the floor, featureless just like the rest of its body. It was terrifying to watch the large beast tear after you, already crossing distance that separated you from it.

Swiveling back around to open the door, you ran. You ran into a smaller room with loads of furniture, all of which was used to slow you down. Bookshelves were thrown onto the floor in an attempt to either break your ankles, or trip you up.

Chairs, couches and tables were rearranged to create a large barricade. You were lucky enough to be able to slip in-between the gaps of the woodwork. Your knees scraped harshly against the wood, leaving the skin raw and rash-y. Your palms used as another set of legs as you crawled through, receiving the same treatment.

You slammed into the next door, unable to slow down as adrenaline pumped through you. Your sweaty palms slipping against the doorknob causing stress to consume your mind and actions alike. When you finally secured a good grip on the door handle you were able to force the door open.

The next part of the chase included books, tables, papers, doors, and a few indistinguishable objects to be tightly packing into the center of the room. Looking both ways you spotted two doors, one all scratched up, the other looking brand new.

Running to the one on the left, the one that actually looked functional, you outstretched your arms toward the door handle. Using your shirt over your hand you were able to turn the handle at the cost of an overly sweat-stained shirt, you were sure it would only get dirtier the longer the day lasted anyway.

The next room was the same set-up as the last. However, both doors look scratched, torn and splintered. Panic pounding in your throat you charged toward the door on the right this time.

The door was jammed, you banged on the door out of panic, turning back to see the large black beast emerging from the door you had just come from. It took a step into the room before its eye locked onto you, if it had a mouth, you were sure it would be giving you the most sinister grin it could possibly give.

Its fingers rose to the doorframe, using the wall it propelled itself forward in a deadly charge, hands outstretched to grab you the second you were in range. But now you noticed the other side, a door that looked fairly new, it was also your last hope to actually escaping from the aggressive entity.

Just barely ducking underneath the hands of the monster you made a final dash toward the door. Already prepared to open the door you were able to keep most of your momentum.

The next room was different, broken chandeliers, large, black clawed hands reaching out of the walls, fire swarming the carpet. You were able to duck underneath the black hands as you avoided the rug entirely.

The door right before you, it was open, it was... relieving in a way. You could hear the heavy footsteps of the thing behind you as it tore after you with unrelenting speed. As you passed the threshold of the door you turned around and slammed the door right in the face of the entity, you were instantly met with a loud smack as the monster rammed into the door.

You watched as part of the door cracked from the impact, you barely noticed as your sides heaved struggling to take in enough air. Your feet were ablaze, your knees were scraped raw, your hands tender, your body dehydrated. You stumbled to the next door, but you were barely able to take a step without pain blistering your body.

But a splintering thud made you whip your head toward the door. A black-clawed hand had gouged a whole into the door, terror striking your body again. The entity pulled its hand back to its side of the door, more splinters breaking off in the motion.

Stumbling against the wall you watched the scene the monster was displaying. It punched another hole into the door, the large gap widening just enough so you could see the entity's body through the hole.

But the entity pulled back, false hope taunting the edges of your mind. But it was short-lived. The large beast hurtled right through the door, the rest of the door breaking from the impact. The monster was able to slow down in time to avoid crashing into the wall.

You watched as its eye analyzed you, your physique, your worn stamina. Within a second it had lunged and managed to throw you to floor. The breath knocked right from your body once more, your body convulsed as you coughed painstakingly.

The black silhouette raised a fist, pulling it back in the wind-up of a powerful blow. But it didn't come. It hesitated.

You took the given opportunity, kicking it in its leg and rolling out of its way as it stumbled forward. You avoided its crushing body weight as you got to your feet as quickly as your legs would allow.

Reaching your hand out toward the doorknob, you were able to just barely graze the handle. The monster swept your own feet from under you, you crashed into the door, falling to the floor, and impact hit hard as your forehead hit the wood of the door.

Black spots exploded in your vision. But you didn't miss it. The lights flickered. You heard them. You saw them. And you knew.

The distant screaming of Rush began to pick up, staticky and distant, but not far enough. Standing up again despite your dazed state, you opened the door and tried to make your way to the nearest closet.

Of course, the monster you were already butting heads with wouldn't let you go so quickly. The one-eyed entity lunged toward you from its spot on the floor, tackling you from the side. You could hear the lights breaking, the glass shattering the screaming growing louder and louder by the second.

But the entity that seemed determined to hinder you, threw you into a closet.

The shrieking grew louder causing your ears to ring as the entity passed by. But just as quickly as it had come by, it was now gone. Your heart pounding, blood boiling left you to barely notice the entity Hyde. You were ripped out of the closet, your body only rag-dolling with the black entity's movements.

The monster's claws grabbed your upper arms, claws shredding your skin as it attempted to hold you against the wall. The sharp edges pricking into your already strained muscles, but you were too tired to care, too worn out from the long chase the entity had given you.

"You're not an entity." The figure spoke, its voice poised, but you could see it barely holding on to its calm edge. "What are you doing on this floor? Humans are not permitted." You could hear the rasp in its unused voice, it made you think, did these guys really have anyone to talk to?

It removed its claws from your flesh, instead forcing you to sit down on the floor. It looked down worriedly at you as it examined its claws, kneeling down to your level to keep eye contact with you.

"Suppose I should apologize, I'm sorry for giving you quite the scare." The entity said as it reached over to give you a pat on the head. Finally, have caught your breath you decided you could give it a little bit of acknowledgment.

Mumbling the word 'Right,' you stood up, the large monster following your motion. It offered you its hand, which you dumbfoundedly took. "You didn't plan to be on this floor, did you?" It asked, eye darting to meet your own as it glanced over its shoulder.

"I- I didn't. I don't even know what floor this is." You explained as the entity started a slow walk up the stairs toward the next door.

"Apologies. They call me Seek; I would appreciate it if you called me that to." Seek said as he turned to look around. Opening a random drawer, he handed you a band-aid. "I do hope the others don't give us much trouble." Seek commented as he gave you a reassuring glance.

"Us?' You asked skeptically, unsure what 'us' actually meant to the monster.

"You want out, yeah? I can get you out." Seek answered, pointing to himself as if to prove a point.

A point that you didn't quite get yet.
