"Y/N. . ." a distant voice called my name, and my eyes fluttered open, slowly. I groaned in unbearable pain and sat up, leaning against a large tree.
Wait, tree? Wasn't I in the mountains?
"It is good to see you're awake, child." a man said, calmly. I looked around, but didn't see anyone. I growled, lowly.
"Show yourself!" I roared. The man chuckled.
"You have the same spirit your father did at your age. So assertive, yet so scared." a man with white braided hair suddenly appeared in front of my. I inhaled, sharply, causing a immense pain to shoot through my chest. I grunted in agony.
"Ah, yes, you're injuries. Let me help you, Shadow." he said, his hand hovering in front of my chest. In mere seconds all the pain in my body vanished, and I felt better than I have in years. I took the moment to take in his features, but they were covered by the shadow of his rice hat.
"Who are you?" I asked, standing up with my newfound strength. The man chuckled and looked down at me.
"There is no need for introductions yet. In time, you will know who I am, but for now it is time for you to wake up, stop the devourer, and defeat your father." I nodded and gave a small smile, now knowing who he was.
"Yes, Grandfather." I then faded back to reality. My eyes snapped open and my body felt like it was on fire, and then I remembered where I was. I quickly got up and began to rush down the mountain and away from the sweltering heat of the volcano.
"Alright, guys, where did you go?" I mutter to myself. I focused on the shadows of Jay's parents junkyard, since it was the closest location I knew, and within a matter of seconds I was there, next to a tall pile of junk. The Ninja suddenly run into the junkyard, panting.
"Good idea, Kai. If the Devourer likes to consume, this place is a full-on buffet." Cole said, clapping Kai on the back.
"Looks like my parents are gone." Jay sighed in relief, walking back to the others.
"Good, better for us." Kai says as he lays out a blueprint of some kind. The others started to get excited.
"Zane, do you still have a recording of the Sacred Flute in your memory bank?" Kai asked, turning towards the nindroid.
"It might've been destroyed earlier, but I have its exact tone recorded and ready for playback." Zane plays the flute recording.
"Good. And there should be enough spare parts around here to build this whopper. But we're gonna need to create our biggest Tornado of Creation yet. This is gonna be dangerous and we can't have anyone around." Kai said just as the postman enters the junkyard whistling a tune.
"Ugh. What's he doing here?" Cole groans as he and Kai run up to him.
"Aah! You Ninja are always sneaking around, giving people heart attacks. You're too quiet." the postman scolds, glaring at them slightly. I made my eyes glow and he stopped, now looking a bit scared.
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. But you need to get out of here, now." Kai pressed, trying to get the guy to leave.
"Uh, well, now, I, too, have a job to do, and that's delivering the mail, which I plan to do." he pulls out the Walkers' mail, which Jay takes.
"Look, dude, my parents aren't even here. You really should be on your way." Jay says, annoyed.
"Them, too? Uh, let me guess, are they at the "Take Back Ninjago" rally too?" the Ninja look to each other, confused.
"Uh, "Take Back Ninjago" rally?" Jay asked, trying to understand what the guy was talking about.
"What, you guys haven't heard? Everyone's getting together for a rally in the city. You know, to raise awareness about all the Serpentine problems that have been surfacing lately." the postman explained.
"Whoa, would you look at that. You guys are inspirational!" Lloyd cheered.
Brother. . .
"Wait a minute, you know what? You guys are right. Wherever you guys are, trouble is always around the corner." as the postman speaks, the Ninja notice the Devourer approaching and got into battle stances, "I think I'll be leaving now 'cause whatever you guys are up to, I want no part of it." he looks behind him to see the Devourer, and screams before jumping into a trash can.
"Hey! It's now or never, guys! Fire!" Kai cried, shooting his element from his sword.
"Earth!"
"Lightning!
"Ice!" they use the Tornado of Creation and take the junk around them to make a decent sized car.
"Zane, now!" Kai ordered. Zane nodded and plays the recording, but the Devourer dodges the sound waves.
"Zane, what was that? This isn't target practice. You're supposed to hit him, not give him a haircut." Cole shouted, annoyed at the ice ninja.
"May I remind you we just magically whipped up this heap of junk?" Zane replies, glaring slightly.
"Well, I hope one of us created a reverse feature because- reverse!" Kai yelled.
"How's this for reverse?" Jay asked, pulling on the gear shift of the vehicle, only to back into a pile of tires.
"I need your help holding him in place." Zane commanded.
"How's this?" Jay uses a grappling hook, "Got him!" he cheered.
"Before it gets away! Now, Zane. now! Take the shot." Kai ordered.
"Charm your way out of this, snake." Zane growled at the serpent. He fired another wave of sound and it hit the giant snake on it's weak point. The Devourer strikes Zane's cockpit from behind with its tail. My anger snapped, and a loud growl echoed around the junkyard, making everyone freeze in place.
"What was that?" Jay squeaked in fear. The snake began slithering backwards, and I emerged from behind the pile of junk, making the Ninja gasp. Stairs of darkness formed at my feet and I climbed up them until I was eye level with the giant serpent.
"I've gone through Hell and back because of you, snake, and I'm not about to let all of it go to waste. Stand down and go back to the hole you crawled out of!" I growled out. The snake hissed at me and bared it's giant fangs, but I remained stone-faced.
"I tried to be nice," the shadow of the giant serpent morphed into reigns, "but you didn't listen." I then jumped onto the beast's head and hooked the shadow reigns in it's mouth, now gaining control of it's movements to some degree. I cheered in exhilaration and kicked the snake's head roughly, driving it away from the others and the Junkyard. I could hear them following me, but I couldn't care less, I was having quite a bit of fun driving this giant Serpentine around. The snake was coming upon Ouroboros quickly, and I smirked, thinking I had convinced it to go back into it's long slumber. I hadn't. As soon as we came to the gates it slammed its head against the ground, knocking me off of it as my focus was interrupted, and the reigns dissipated back to shadows. I fell to the ground, back first, and looked up as the serpent slithered off towards Ninjago City. My eyes went wide in fear for the people and I collapsed to my knees as soon as I stood up.
"I failed. . ."
"No you didn't, my child." my head whipped up only to see my father, smiling back down at me as he held out one of his hands for me. I gently took it and he lifted me off the ground.
"What are you doing here? I thought you left?" I asked, hugging him. He hugged back and rested his head on mine.
"I wanted to know my children were alright." he replied softly, looking off into the distance.
"You're ninja friend's are coming. I will be back later, I promise." he said, kissing my forehead before disappearing into the shadows. I turned around and sure enough; the Ninja were all standing there with expressions of shock, but Nya and Lloyd were nowhere to be seen. I gave a small chuckle and slowly made my way towards Cole, who was trembling, and the others backed away from him, all smiling softly as he fell to his knees.
"Y/N? Is it really you?" he asked, slowly, as if afraid I was just an illusion. I nodded with a small grin, and tears began to spill from his eyes. He was quick to pull me into a tight hug, and his body was shaking intensely as tears fell onto my back.
"You are never leaving my sight again, you hear me? I can't lose you again." he cried, hugging me tighter. I only chuckled and rubbed his back until he calmed down.
"Reunions can happen later, there's still a snake on the loose." I stated, my voice dead. He nodded and released me before the Ninja summoned their vehicles and just like that; we were off towards the city.
~~~
When we arrived the Great Devourer was hovering over Jay's parent's car, hissing in hunger as it eyed them with the natural instinct to kill the two elderlies. I eyed the Devourer, carefully, making sure it didn't see me.
"Mom? Dad?" Jay's eyes widened and he rushed into action, "Leave my parents alone! Lightning!" a heavy voltage shocked the serpent back.
"Fire!" Kai yelled, and then suddenly, a news van went flying at the snake. I looked to Cole to see him smirking with his arms crossed.
"Go, Ninja, go!" a reporter cheered before running off with her camera man.
"Uh, I think we only made it mad." Jay whimpered. The Ninja are scattered on the ground as the Devourer lunges at them, and the Samurai Mech stops it by holding its mouth open with a lamppost.
"Samurai to the rescue. Again." Jay sighed, lovingly. I rolled my eyes at his distracted state.
"Its breath smells worse than Cole's chili." Lloyd complained from inside the mech. My eyes widened in fear.
"Get out of there, sis!" Kai yelled, worried for his sister.
"I can't! I'm stuck!" she cried out, trying to fly out.
"Lloyd!" the young boy's head snapped towards me as soon as I called out to him.
"Y/N?! I thought you were-" he was cut off by the Ultra Dragon attacking the giant serpent, rescuing Nya and Lloyd.
"Rocky! Our Dragons are back." Cole cheered, looking at his dragon in
"It appears Dragons go through a metamorphosis when they reach adulthood. They too have found their True Potential." Zane commented, smiling. I looked at the dragon in fascination, I had never seen a dragon before.
"Ha! They couldn't have come at a better time. Go get them, Rocky! Go!" Cole yelled as Shard's head blasts the Devourer with ice breath.
"Ice!" Flame's head uses fire breath on it.
"Fire!" Wisp's head shocks it.
"Lightning!" the Dragon then slams it head against the Devourer, knocking it to the ground.
"Earth! Can Dragons get any cooler? Seriously." Cole asked, placing me on his shoulders to get a better look.
"Yes! It's running away." the Devourer suddenly strikes the Ultra Dragon with its tail, and it falls to the ground with a crash. We all cry out in dismay as we rush over to the majestic dragon.
"What now?" Nya asked, sadly. I heard footsteps behind us and Lloyd and I turned around, only to find our father, smiling.
"So you kept your promise." I stated, smirking softly. He nodded before turning to the Ninja, a serious expression on his face.
"Give me the weapons. I am the only one who can handle the power of all four weapons at once. It's the only thing that'll defeat the Devourer." he ordered, making them look at him like he was insane.
"Uh, I thought we were supposed to do everything in our power not to let him possess the weapons."
"I've ran every other scenario through my servers. It appears to be the only way." Zane says as he and Cole hand them their weapons.
"Give me the weapons." Dad urged on. Kai and Jay were the only ones left.
"Kai?" Zane pleaded, making me roll my eyes.
"Only I can destroy it. Or prepare to watch—"
"Quit your yammering and just do it." Kai throws him the Sword of Fire, "When you have a chance to make the blow, it has a weak spot near his forehead." now, it was just Jay who had to give the Dark Lord his weapon.
"Uh, I don't think this needs to be said, but we're gonna need these back." he said, nervously handing Dad his nunchucks. Garmadon merely let out a dark chuckle.
"I'll do my part- you just make sure he stays in one spot." he laughs once again and runs away.
"Stays in one spot? Stays in one spot!? How are we supposed to do that?" Jay says, freaking out.
"Did you forget about Y/N single handedly riding the snake?" Zane asked, smirking.
"Absolutely not! She isn't doing that again, I meant it when I said I didn't want her leaving my sight." Cole said, firmly. As they argued, I slipped away and went on the hunt for the serpent, quickly finding it about to eat some innocent citizens.
"Hey, serpent!" I shouted, catching its attention instantly. It started to back away, but I was quick to jump on it, morphing shadow reigns into its mouth once more.
"Let's go for a joy ride, shall we?" I smirked before riding it around the city, cheering in excitement anytime it shook its head. It soon was wrapped around the city, tail in mouth, and I jumped off as it struggled to get free. The sky becomes engulfed by dark clouds, and I see Dad on the roof of a skyscraper, glaring at the snake.
"You are the reason evil runs through my daughter's blood. You bit me once. Now feel what it's like to be bitten back." he unleashes a purple energy as he jumps, and an overwhelming force of power shot through my veins as I rushed to get to the others.
"Go get him, Dad." I mutter, glaring at the snake one last time.
"Vengeance will be mine!" Garmadon destroys the Devourer and its venom spreads throughout the city. Cheers rang throughout the air, but I noticed a little girl around my age with pure white hair trapped under some rubble. She was crying for her parents, but I didn't see anyone around that could be related to her. I quickly rushed to help her and shoved the pieces of debris off of her small frame.
"You alright, kid?" I ask, helping her up. She shakily nodded and looked around, tears still streaming down her face before hugging me.
"My parents were trapped in the building when it fell! I don't see them anywhere!" she cried into my shoulder, making me frown.
"I'm so sorry, kid. I'll try and find them, but I'm going to take you to an ambulance first, alright, you might have a broken bone or two from being trapped like that." I said, picking the small girl up. She cuddled into my chest and I smiled, the action reminding me of Lloyd, and started running towards the nearest ambulance truck. Once I arrived, I gave one of the paramedics the kid before running off with a two-fingered salute. I looked for hours for any crying adults or anyone with white hair or anything that closely resembled the girl's features, but I found nothing. I made my way back to her, and shook my head, causing tears to spill down her cheeks as she hugged me tightly.
"I'm so sorry, kiddo. I truly am. I know what it's like to lose your parents. . ." I whispered, and a short lady with black hair offered to take the girl to an orphanage. After a bit of persuasion, they left and I walked around the ruined city, looking for my family. It was quickly becoming dark, my only source of light being my eyes as I walked aimlessly around the city. I eventually stumbled upon a building that was still intact, and I saw a chubby man with brown hair inside polishing some trophies, although fake, with great care. I looked away from the window and knocked on the door, earning a small, girly scream, which I laughed at. The man opened the door and looked out for a second before looking down at me, immediately ushering me inside.
"Come in, kid, let me get you some food, you look so hurt. Did the Devourer do this?" he asked, rushing into a back room. I waited for him to return, and he did, a sandwich in hand along with a glass of water.
"Yes and no, I was looking for a little girl's parents in some rubble, and I got pretty scratched up. I was the one riding the Great Devourer like a horse around the city, so that got me a couple of injuries as well." I explained, taking a bite of the sandwich. It was pretty good for just a simple PB&J.
"Did you find them?" he asked, curiously. I sighed and shook my head, remembering the girl's heart broken expression when I told her.
"Oh, well, do you have any family? If not, you could stay here with me and help me teach my students Karate. I'm Grand Sensei Dareth of Grand Sensei Dareth's Mojo Dojo." he said, extravagantly.
And I thought Lloyd was overdramatic.
"Show me what you got, Sensei Dareth." I said, smirking. He grinned brightly and began doing really bad poses and making animal noise, and I just couldn't contain my laughter.
"Dude, really? Are you messing with me or is that really what you teach kids?" I ask, grinning. He sheepishly grinned back while running a hand through his messy hair.
"Is it really that bad?" he asked, chuckling nervously. I nodded and decided to show off a bit.
"Now let me show you what real fighting is." I said, my eyes glowing as the familiar purple flames erupted from them. He let out a gasp as I began to throw punches and kicks expertly, flipping around every once and a while. I suddenly spun into a dark purple tornado, silver swirls floating around me as well. I stopped and smiled brightly.
"Finally, yes! Take that, Lloyd, I got it before you!" I screeched to the heavens, making Dareth chuckle.
"Who's Lloyd?"
"My twin brother, he's with my uncle and some friends right now." I explained, and his face fell slightly.
"Oh, so you do have family. It's kinda lonely here when I don't have classes, I was secretly hoping you'd get to stay with me and show me some more of that spinning stuff." he said, disappointedly.
"Eh, I think the others can handle me not being there for a few days. I can't teach you Spinjitzu, but I can help you with your fighting." I said, warmly, the flames dying down and disappearing completely.
"Really?" he asked, earning a nod. He threw me up in the air and set me down, getting a small laugh out of me.
"So what was with those purple flames coming out of your eyes?" he asked, grinning brightly.
"It's a long story." I replied, smiling back.
I'll be back soon, guys, I promise.
