Third Person (mainly focusing on Lloyd for the first part, though)
~~~~
Ever since Y/N disappeared after the defeat of the Great Devourer, Cole has become distant, only giving his input in when absolutely necessary. Lloyd tried to help him, but he was just as lost without his sister there to guide him, his focus now only on training. Kai was convinced that the little girl he had grown to call his best friend was gone, and that she wasn't coming back this time, but Zane and Jay still had hope for her return, though it was wearing thin with every hour that passed.
"Good, keep it up." Kai encouraged as the future Green Ninja punched his oven-mitt covered hands.
"Ha! Fists of fury! You can't even see 'em move, I'm so fast! Ha!" the young boy boasted, punching even faster at his remarks.
"Save the gloating. It can only be used against you by your enemy." Kai warned, smiling at the boy.
"Oh, please. I'm ready to face whatever you throw at me." Lloyd merely waved the warning off, kicking Kai until he was thrown backwards.
"Whoa, grasshopper. You're not even ready to face my pinky toe." Kai wiggles his left foot to emphasize his point. Behind Lloyd, Wu is observing the session.
"I see the student has become the teacher. You will learn fast, Lloyd, with lessons from the four Ninja." the old man stated, smiling warmly at his nephew.
"Great, now that lesson is over, how about some target practice- on Kai?" the Master of Lightning offered, smirking at the frightful expression the Master of Fire wore.
"You'll each get your turn, but first, I don't want you to be late for your next lesson with Nya." Wu said, breaking up the two before they could argue.
"Aww, but when will I learn Spinjitzu?" Lloyd whines, causing his uncle to let out a soft sigh.
"Patience. It will only be unlocked when the key is ready to be found." Lloyd groans and walks away to meet up with Nya. Lloyd quickly finds the young woman on the roof with the Ultra Dragon.
"Now that I've given him his medicine, he should be able to fly properly soon. But it's important to take care of him because one day, he'll be yours." she sated, smiling at the destined one.
"Uh, mine. Really?" the young boy asked, excitedly.
"Sure. The Elemental Dragons were loyal to the four Ninja. But Ultra Dragon, he's meant for the Green Ninja to ride." Nya explained, the bright smile never leaving her face.
"Whoa! I never knew that." Lloyd was beyond excited by this point.
"See? Even a samurai like myself can teach you a thing or two." she said, putting her hands on her hips.
"But, uh, I don't know how to fly." Lloyd admitted, quietly, making the woman smile even brighter.
"It's all in the legs." she instructed, patting the boy's head, affectionately, making him giggle, "He'll be the fastest and strongest Dragon in all of Ninjago."
"Looks like he's already feeling better." Lloyd pointed out, looking at the majestic beast
"Go try to get some air, big boy." Nya cheered, and the Ultra Dragon flies away.
In Ninjago City, the Ninja stopped at a bus stop in front of Grand Sensei Dareth's Mojo Dojo.
"This is where Lloyd is going to train?" Cole muttered, his voice hoarse from the recent lack of use. Jay smiled at his best friend's voice and laughed nervously out of habit
"Hehe, it's better than our dumpy apartment." he said, smiling as they entered the Dojo. They all stood in shock as a dark purple tornado stood in front of them, buzzing around the room like they had done oh-so many times before, the silver swirls standing out, brightly. The tornado suddenly stopped and was revealed to be the one and only; Y/N Garmadon.
"Hey guys!" she chirped, as if she hadn't been missing for a week. Cole's knees went out from under him in pure shock, creating a yelp from the others as they swiftly caught him, steadying him to his feet once more. Lloyd sprinted faster than he ever had and engulfed his sister in a tight hug, not releasing her for anything. The girl only chuckled and hugged her twin back, smiling as she rested her head on his.
"It's good to see you, too, Little Brother." she whispered, stroking the boy's platinum blonde hair. The noise had alerted the girl's current care taker, who walked out from the back room with a smile as he saw the new comers.
"Welcome to Grand Sensei Dareth's Mojo Dojo. I am Grand Sensei Dareth, and I Dareth you to join my dojo. Heeya!" he says, grunting as he karate-chops the air. The twins let go of each other and join hands, the girl shaking her head at the man's foolishness.
"Dareth, what did we talk about with the karate poses? It's not the best marketing tool you have, buddy." she said, smiling at the man in brown, who was rubbing his head, sheepishly.
"Right, guess I forgot for a second." he replied, ruffling the girl's hair a bit, earning a hiss from her brother as he pulled her closer. Everyone laughed at the strange act of protection from the boy, and the girl's cheeks were tinted pink in slight embarrassment.
"Face the wall of karate trophies. If you look closely, my name is on all of them. That is because I am a highly skilled karate machine." Dareth gloated, pointing towards the wall of fake trophies. The Ninja only shook their heads at the man in utter disappointment.
"Look, Dareth, we're wondering if we could share your dojo. You see, we've been put in charge of training these two kids to become the greatest Ninja in all of Ninjago." Kai explained, placing a hand his hands on twin's shoulders. Dareth looked at the girl, confused, and Y/N gave a childish grin.
"These are my friends and brother I was telling you about, Dareth. He's not lying when he says that we'll be the greatest ninja." Y/N said, making the man smile softly and ruffle the young girl's hair again.
"Look, pal, we're the guys that just saved the city from that giant snake." Jay said, slightly annoyed.
"Ha! Am I looking at Lord Garmadon? Because unless I'm stupid, and I'm not, Lord Garmadon destroyed the Devourer." Y/N kicked him in the leg and he grunted, "Oh, yeah, and you, too, ya' munchkin."
"Hehe. That's been a huge misunderstanding. Actually, we were the ones who destroyed—"
"I'll let you train here but only on one condition. You can defeat me. If you succeed, we will share the dojo. That's right. I, Grand Sensei Dareth, master of all animal fighting styles, challenge one of you to a battle. I know the Tiger, the Python, the Penguin—" Kai suddenly uses Spinjitzu on Dareth, knocking him down, "How did you—"
"You might know animals, but we know Spinjitzu." Kai stated, cutting him off once more with a smirk.
"You can train in my dojo anytime." Dareth said, smiling as he opened his arms in acceptance.
"I can do that, too, now!" Y/N chirped, spinning into her tornado of darkness. The Ninja all stared at her, pride in their eyes as her brother stared with a hint of jealousy.
"Teach me!" he begged, falling to his knees, dramatically. His sister merely shook her head and smiled at her twin.
"You'll learn in time, it's not something one can teach another, Lloyd. You know that." she said, helping him up. The boy sighed in disappointment and nodded, determined to be able to do Spinjitzu by the end of the day.
Y/N
~~~
The Ninja were currently training Lloyd at the dojo as I watched from Dareth's shoulders.
"You must be light on your feet." Jay instructed.
"When you strike with your fists, concentrate. You may be small, but you're strong." Cole said, his voice finally back to normal. Lloyd strikes the boards, making a mini earthquake. The four gasp as they are thrown off their feet.
"That was the power of the Staff of Quakes. And you did it without the Golden Weapon!" Jay exclaimed, childishly. I stared in wonder at my brother, proud of how much stronger he had grown without me holding him back.
"That must be why you have the potential to be the greatest Ninja. You can harness all of the Elemental Powers." Zane deducted.
"Really? Cool." Lloyd said, not really seeming excited about it.
"With this power, you must be careful. You must control it before it controls you." Wu instructed, glancing at me. I climbed off of Dareth's shoulders as he went into the back room with a couple of his students.
"Can I try?" I asked Cole, timidly. He smiled and nodded, motioning towards the punching bag. I focused solely on the bag of sand before punching it with all my strength, causing jagged rocks to shoot up from the ground and impale the bag from all sides. I stared at my hands in fear and clutched them close to my chest, backing away from the sharp rocks.
"Woah! It's like the dark version of the element of Earth!" Jay said in wonder as he stared at the jagged rocks, walking towards them.
"No, Jay, stop!" I cried, reaching out to stop him before he touched the harmful material. Too late. As soon as his skin made contact with the rock he recoiled in pain, hissing as he held his now injured hand.
"Are you alright, Jay? Let me see." Cole asked, worriedly rushing towards his best friend. I sighed and walked outside to the alley way, not feeling up to talking to anyone anymore.
"You ok, Kid?" Kai asked as I looked up from my knees. I whimpered and hid my face once again, not daring to make eye contact with him. The fire ninja sighed and sat down next to me, wrapping a comforting arm around me as he continued.
"That wasn't your fault, you know. You tried to warn him not to but he touched it anyway, so it's his fault for not listening. Don't blame yourself for every bad thing that happens to us, Y/N. Not everything is your fault." he soothed as I felt tears start to fall from my eyes, staining my gi with the salty water.
"I'm dangerous, Kai, I shouldn't even be here! Lloyd got so much stronger while I wasn't with him and you all seem perfectly capable of training him without me. I'm not needed. . . I'm not wanted." I sobbed into my knees. He growled and lifted my head up, making me look into those blazing amber eyes of his.
"I don't ever want to hear those words come out of your mouth again, got it? You're needed here just as much as Lloyd, and don't think for even a second that we don't want you. Cole didn't eat anything while you were gone and Lloyd did nothing but train, only stopping when he passed out from exhaustion. You're essential to us all, and especially to those two. Cole thinks of you as his daughter and your Lloyd's twin sister, for crying out loud. So please, if not for your own sake, then for theirs, stay with us this time." his words made more tears spill from my eyes as I hugged him tightly.
"I don't want to hurt anyone! I don't want to be evil!" I cried into his chest, my face burying itself in the red material of his gi.
"You aren't going to hurt anyone, and you're most definitely not evil. You spent three hours searching for a little girl's parents- name one evil person who would do that." he said, stroking my hair softly.
"A rapist trying to get the girl to trust them." I mumbled.
"You know that's not what I meant." he chuckled while picking me up. Kai walked back into the dojo and we were instantly greeted with Jay screaming.
"Oh, that's our ship!"
"But pirates?"
"Pirates haven't been around for centuries." Cole stated, wondrously.
"I sense Lord Garmadon is somehow behind this." Kai's grip on me immediately tightened as he hugged me closer.
"How are we gonna follow them?" Lloyd's question made Kai shift around in his pockets for a second before pulling out a bus token.
He's lost his mind
"Perhaps this can be of some use." he said, setting me down before they all rushed out of the Dojo. Lloyd and I followed behind them and we all climbed on the bus, Kai handing the driver the token.
"I can't believe I'm saying this, but follow that ship!" we then went to the seats, the Ninja finally noticing us, "I don't like the kids coming along. It's too dangerous."
"I don't want Y/N going, either. Her powers are too unstable right now." Cole said, agreeing with Kai. I immediately shrunk down and hung my head, hiding slightly behind Lloyd, which was a bit hard because of our height differences.
"Please, please, please. We'll be super good!" Lloyd pleaded, dying to get in on the action.
"The powers inside the both of you are still too great, too uncontrollable." Zane stated, firmly.
"One of these days you'll be able to join us. Sorry kids." Cole said, earning a small groan of annoyance from my brother. The Ninja climbs onto the roof, and just as they were about to grab the ship's anchor, the bus stops for an old woman to cross the street. Lloyd suddenly jumped up and dragged me off the bus and towards the Ninja's apartment, instantly climbing up the fire escape once we got there. Once we arrived at the roof, a small gasp left my lips as I laid my eyes on the Ultra Dragon, who was staring back at me with protective eyes.
"Y/N, meet our pet dragon." Lloyd said, smugly. I slowly walked towards the beast, petting Wisp's snout once I was close enough.
"Hi, there, buddy." I whispered, and Flame's head nudged me in a playful manner, making me giggle as I pet his nose. A sudden scream ripped through the air and my head shot up at the familiar voice, face instantly paling as I saw Dareth plummeting to his death. I hopped on with Lloyd next to me as he grabbed the reigns and began flying towards the falling man. We caught Dareth just in time as Lloyd cheered.
"I-I called the Dragon. I called the Dragon!" Dareth laughed, joyfully. I let him have his fun and we dropped him off at a nearby rooftop.
"Can I have a crack at flying?" I asked.
"Sure!" Lloyd said as he handed me the reigns. I cracked them and the dragon was instantly in the air, roaring majestically. One close enough to the ship we jumped off and faced the pirates, my eyes glowing underneath my mask.
"Kids! You're not supposed to be here!" Kai puts Lloyd in a barrel, but Lloyd accidentally pushes him off the ship. The captain kept trying to attack Lloyd, but even with a barrel covering him he was still able to dodge efficiently.
"Come here, you blurry little munchkin!" the pirate screamed in annoyance.
"Ninja, go!" Lloyd suddenly uses Spinjitzu and breaks free of his barrel, "Whoa, Spinjitzu! I just did Spinjitzu for the first time! Y/N, did you see?" before I could respond, Soto kicks Lloyd, who flips the switch to the anchor. I noticed Garmadon in a cell below deck and stealthily made my way over to him.
"What did you do?!" I whisper-yelled, catching him and the Serpentine he was with off guard.
"Y/N? No time to explain about what happened, get us out of here!" he whispered back.
"You'll only attack my friends. Sorry, Dad, but no way." I stated before turning back around, leaving the dark lord screaming for me to come back. Lloyd suddenly fires a ball of energy at the pirates, but it hits the ship's mast instead and falls on top of the Ninja.
"You lose, Pajama People." the captain said, pointing a sword at them. My low growl rang through the air, making them all turn to face me, a look of dread falling upon their faces at the mere sight of my angered face.
"It's one thing to threaten my city, but nobody threatens my family!" I screamed, purple fire encasing my eyes, causing them to all scream in terror as I attacked.
"It's a demon!" one of the pirates screamed out. I immediately froze at the word and before I knew it, my eye had blood pouring down it. Nya suddenly appears in her Samurai Mech and places the mast back in place, freeing the Ninja.
"Who wins between pirates and Ninja? It's Samurai!" Jay cheered, love-struck as usual. His girlfriend only chuckles and flies the ship down to the ground, where police cars were waiting to take the pirates away to Kryptarium.
"Good work, team." the commissioner said, proudly.
"Don't forget to include this guy." Kai says as he gives Lloyd a noogie, making the boy laugh. I wasn't focused on that right now, though, and neither was Cole or Nya.
"Don't worry, sweetheart, your eye will be ok." Nya said as she patched it up.
"You're going to be alright, Kiddo, I promise." Cole whispered as he hugged me tightly. I didn't want to hurt him in my enraged state, so as soon as Nya was finished patching my eye up I pushed him away.
"Y/N? Sweetie, what's wrong?" the Samurai asked as I backed away. Everyone else was watching from the sidelines, worriedly.
"Just stay away from me for a bit, would you?" I snapped, and purple electricity soon crackled over my body.
"Is this about what that pirate said?" Cole questioned, coming up to me. My eyes began to flare again as another heart-wracking growl erupted from my chest. Jagged rocks erupted from the ground in front of me and they all stopped in place, completely frozen in fear.
"I said stay away from me!" I yelled before running off, not daring to look back. I could hear them following me, but I still didn't care, I just kept running. I eventually managed to lose them in an alley way, and I slid down the wall as molten tears began to stream down my face.
"Didn't I say earlier that you weren't evil?" Kai asked from beside me, causing my soul to depart from my body for a second.
"I almost hurt him, Kai- he was just trying to help me and I attacked! I told you I was dangerous, but you didn't listen, and now they're afraid of me." my cries didn't go ignored, and my once molten tears turned to normal.
"God dammit, Y/N, I said you weren't dangerous and I meant it. No one on our team is afraid of you, and you're coming home. You can't keep running from us like this." he said, sternly. I looked at him in complete and utter shock, but that quickly melted into anger as I stood up and started to walk away. Kai was quick to react and grabbed my shoulder, making me come to a harsh stop.
"You aren't running away from us, not this time. I don't understand why you're so afraid to come home." he growled. My eyes were beginning to flare up again as I turned to him swiftly, making him back up at the sight of my enraged state.
"Because I'm afraid of myself, Kai!" I screamed out, my voice breaking slightly. He only stared at me in fear.
"What?" he whispered, shaking himself out of his trance, "What in Ninjago makes you afraid of your own being?" his voice was beginning to escalate.
"You're ten years old, Y/N! Ten! You shouldn't be afraid of yourself at that age, there's no reason to ever be afraid of yourself!" he yelled back. That did it.
"You don't know what it's like to have evil run through your veins! You don't know what it's like to be completely alone for almost half of a decade! You don't know what it's like to cry yourself to sleep every night because others call you a monster! You don't know anything about me, and I have every reason to be afraid of myself." I roared, leaving him stunned as I walked away into the night.
