The group ran through the night. They had already been running for hours, and they lost the bandits long before that. The sun was peeking up on the horizon, and the group was getting even more tired.
"Can't we rest?" Elly complained. She wiped the sweat on her brow. "My legs hurt."
"Okay," Hannah said. "We can rest. Atleast for a little bit."
The five sat down in the field of grass they were in. The farm was no longer in sight. They had ran past many other farms during their escape, and all seemed to be abandoned. They had met no one. The sun was just rising in the sky, with shades of yellow and pink.
"Pink sky at night, sailor's delight," Elly recited. "Pink sky in morn, sailors be warned. Look's like we might have a storm on our hands."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Duncan asked, curiously.
"It means," Elly said. "If the sun sets with colors of pink, there's going to be a great day tomorrow. If the sun rises with colors of pink, then there's probably going to be a storm."
"That's neat." Liam said. "But is it accurate?"
"It's the best we got, since there are no weather channels anymore." Elly answered. She paused. "I never watched those, anyway."
"Should we get going?" Lewis asked.
"Maybe," Duncan said. His stomach growled. "But I think we should get food, soon. I'm starving."
"Me too," Liam added.
"Then we should get going," Lewis said. "The more we walk, the more we come closer to any civilizations."
The group got up and started to walk again. The sun rose higher into the sky as they treaded on, and so did a few grey clouds. It did look like it was going to rain.
"Don't tell me this is the forest all over again." Duncan complained. Hannah seemed to stiffen at the mention of the forest, but nobody noticed.
"Hopefully not," Lewis said. "I'd hate to be trapped in miles of forest again."
The group continued on, and, at about noon, rain started to pour down.
"Sh*t." Hannah mumbled while shielding the rain with her hands. "We need to find shelter!"
"There's no buildings! We'll just have to keep walking." Liam said.
Pretty soon, it seemed like God was pouring buckets-no, tubs of water onto the group. They were soaked to the bone, freezing, and getting p*ssed. What could get worse?
A zombie, of course. Or, maybe ten.
"Are you kidding me?!" Duncan asked in disbelief. They had absolutely no weapons, too tired to give a crap about anything, and weak.
Just as the first zombie got close, a gun shot sounded, and he fell down, dead once again. The five looked around, trying to find the shooter.
A woman and man came out of nowhere and MLG'd the zombies with sophisticated-looking guns. The woman had brown hair pulled back in a pony tail, and a SWAT uniform on. The man had blonde hair and also had a SWAT uniform on.
"Follow us!" The woman yelled. The group gladly listened, and followed the two others.
The now group of seven ran through the night. The woman lead the group, while the man shot at the undead following them.
The woman leaned down and lifted up a trap door covered in grass. She ushered everyone down, then locked the trap door behind them.
Behind the trapdoor, was like a hotel. There were the hotel-like hallways and doors. The woman turned to face them.
"Hello," She said. "I bet your wondering what's going on."
"Yes," Lewis answered. "Can you explain?"
"Sure. My name is Carol. This is my brother, Danny." The woman explained.
Dan looked annoyed. "Daniel."
Carol looked at her brother. "Whatever, Danny." Dan grunted.
"You guys are so nonchalant about this." Hannah said.
"It's safe here," Dan said. "We're trying to make a living. A new living. In this military bunker."
"Do all military bunkers look like a hotel?" Duncan asked.
"Well," Carol said. "We made it bigger and decorated a bit for other people. I guess it does sorta look like a hotel."
"We'd take you to your rooms," Dan said. "But we have to take you to the office and check you in first."
The two began to take the Yogscast members through the base.
"Achoo!" Elly sneezed. Then she coughed.
"You okay, kid?" Carol asked. Elly nodded. Carol walked over to Elly and placed a hand on her forehead. After a moment, she took her hand off. "Hm. Probably a start to a fever. Maybe from the rain.... or something else. Tell me," Carol looked at Elly right in the eye. "Have you been bitten?"
Elly froze for a moment, then shook her head.
"Are you sure?" Carol questioned. Elly nodded.
"Okay then," Dan said. "Let's get going. Then we'll take you to the Nurse's Office, okay?" At the mention of the Nurse's Office, Lewis cringed. Memories of Simon came back to him, and he pushed them away to avoid a mental breakdown.
The two proceeded to lead the group to wherever the 'office' is. As they went on, the group saw different rooms. There was a cafeteria, a rec hall, a lobby and more. And the group's legs hurt even more when they got there.
"This is not going well with my cold." Elly said nasally. Her nose was stuffed now, and she rubbed her thighs to show that the pain in her legs came back.
Just as the group was approaching a very fancy door, Hannah tripped on a wrinkled carpet.
"Oof!" She grunted as she fell face-first to the ground.
"Are you okay, Hannah?" Lewis asked between chuckles.
"Yes, it's very funny to watch a woman fall on her face." Hannah responded. She started to get up.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa," Carol said, panic in her voice. "What's that?!"
"What's wha-" Hannah began to say, then her face went pale. Her eyes turned to look at her leg.
She was wearing jeans, but the pant leg on her left moved up when she tripped. It exposed a bite wound, but a very old looking one. It already started to scab over, with only a little dried blood around the edges.
"What the f*ck...." Dan said. Then he pointed his gun at Hannah. "Get up and put your hands in the air."
Lewis stood in front of his girlfriend. "She didn't do anything wrong! I'm sure there's an explanation!"
Carol raised her gun and pointed at Lewis. "Move, now. There's no explanation for getting bit. You get bit, you die, and turn into them. We don't give a crap about how it happened, we just need to put down whoever's infected and-"
"NO!" Lewis interrupted. His best friend was bit, now his girlfriend. He wasn't going to let her die on his watch, until it was absolutely necessary. "You do not touch her!"
"She's bitten! We have to do something!" Carol yelled. By now, people were crowding in the halls to watch the phenomenon.
"Wait!" Elly yelled. "Look at the bite mark! It's scabbed over! It's been there for weeks!"
"So your saying she's immune?" Carol asked, disbelief in her voice.
"That's insane!" Dan added.
"It's not!" Elly said. She rolled up her sleeve to reveal her own bite wound. "This is four weeks old! A month! Do you realize how long that is? I should be dead! But I'm not! Hannah should be too, but she isn't! It's real. You have to believe us."
