(AUTHOR'S NOTE: SORRY FOR TAKING TOO LONG INTO UPDATING, I WAS HAVING ISSUES THINKING IN IDEAS FOR THIS NEW AND THE UPCOMING CHAPTER BUT I BACK AGAIN. HOPE YOU LIKE IT)
After finally putting the baby down for a nap, Almond tried to do something to keep him and his mind busy but he suddenly passed out; he was twisting and squirming in his slumber trying to silence his inner doubts
"Look at that mess you are right!...Why didn't you tell us about this?...You're not a good partner let alone a father...That baby will be your down fall...Almond...are you sure about this? Almond...have you forgotten your promise?...have you forgotten me?"-thats all the young detective could hear inside his mind as his inner self was struggling to keep the peace, thats when he woke up in a cold sweat while holding his chest
"What it's happening? Why I'm having these thoughts?"-Almond was conflicted until he heard the baby cookie's cries, he rushed over to the nursery and picked up the wailing cookie while trying to calm her down
"Shh shh, its alright, sweetie"-he said but the baby cookie was still crying her eyes out, he tried to remember anything from what he had read in his partner's parenting books she had, everything from burping her to checking her diaper if she needed changing but nothing was working. The young detective was getting frustrated until he got an idea that could work
"Maybe we could go outside...but I'm a mess, I still have my work clothes, all stained up...and what if the others see me? Oh boy! they'll rip me a new one, no think if Pecan's friends find out! They'll go berserk on you!"-he was deep in his thoughts until a pitch scream coming from the baby brought him back to reality
"Okay, okay. Let's go outside for a walk, that should do the trick, right?"-he said to the freshly baked cookie still crying, he quickly wiped her teary and snotty covered face, changed her clothes and gave her a pacifier which she happily start suckling. Almond placed her into a small stroller as he packed up her diaper bag, he then cleaned up himself, good enough to at least not look like a walking cookie corpse and walked over to the door, he let took a deep breath
"I hope this turns out okay"-he muttered as he pulled out the stroller and closed the door behind him and off both him and his daughter went.
To say he worried would be an understatement, Almond felt completely weirded out while passing by other cookies, he normally would be in a rush or wearing his iconic coat with a confidence look in his face, but now he was feeling tired, looking untidy and pushing down a stroller with a baby inside which made him feel like a fish out of water. The baby, on the other hand, was peacefully looking around curiously, she was in awe with everything.
But it didn't last long, she let out a loud cry spatting her dummy in the process, this made the young detective groan softly as he tried to shush her without picking her up, some cookies were driven by the cry as he tried to keep his best "I'm okay" face
"Its okay, baby. Calm down"-he said to no avail, the baby cookie was still crying her eyes out, he was getting desperate as a more cookies had turned to look at him and were muttering under their breaths about him, he quickly find a bench in a nearby park and sat down to feed her, hoping that would calm her down.
He unpacked her bottle and tried to place it in her mouth but she refused to eat, she kept wailing; he grew a bit more concerned as and picked her up and started to cradle her, as it seems that its the only way to calm her down
"Nice set of lungs your baby has there!"-said a pastel pink haired cookie carrying a small baby cookie with pigtails and holding the hand of another kid cookie in a pink dress, Almond turned around and sigh
"Wha-Oh, I'm sorry my baby disrupted you, ma'm"-he said trying to sound like he is been keeping everything under control
"Its alright, sir. I understand that, my little one here can also be a bit of handful too. Oh by the way, who is that little one you're holding?-she asked all jolly
"I'm sorry but I've been so tired these days that I haven't even given her a name yet. I'm new to this"-the young detective said while trying to calm down his now squirming baby, this made the female cookie change from jolly to concerned
"Oh, I see. Well, I guess that and your partner were so into things that you forgot right? And for the looks of it, it must be hard for her to have all the work and not able to relay on someone else"-the cookie said in a condescending tone which made Almond stop in his tracks for a second
"Oh snap! She didn't not said that!"-he thought before gaining his composure and replying a simple but monotone-"yeah..."-before he could say anything else, the other cookie went back to her business as her kid ran off and she rushed to get her; Almond sighed as he looked around at other cookies and their kids being all perfect and handling their babies with ease all the while he try to calmed down his, as her cries grew louder and louder calling everyone's attention.
The young detective was getting desperate now as the baby was screaming and more and more cookies started to comment between themselves about the spectacle he and his daughter have been making and questioning his parenting; it didn't help that his negative thoughts grew stronger and stronger inside his mind tormenting his inner self
"They all judging you, tough guy. You're doing a terrible job at this, look around all those perfect families and there is you...A completely mess of a cookie and a baby..."-he was spiraling until a comment that he heard loud and clear, make his heart drop
"I think its best that cookie puts that baby up to adoption, he looks way too young to be raising her let alone being a father"-that comment was enough to make him leave that place in a rush, the baby cookie cooed in confusion still wanting to reach him but Almond didn't response, he was way too wrapped into his thoughts, to even respond to her pleads
He started to walk faster as more and more cookies were questioning what was happening and trying to defuse the situation, but he avoided the questions, hyperventilating with every interrogation, to make matters worse for him, a bunch of rain clouds were approaching the magical city indicating a storm was coming
