Almond's world was spiraling in chaos in his mind, he felt his legs giving up as he felt his world started to crumble with every breathing, he couldn't get what the other cookies at the park told him and that horrible suggestion, it didn't help that his inner demons started to torment him once more
"They all right about you, you'll never be good enough for that kid, you're lousy at this and never be good for it...you were not ready for being a parent and it shows...ever since that kid arrived you're have become more and more pathetic..."
"stop this..."-he muttered as the noise around him increased its volume
"Oh, what would your friends think if they have see you like that? Bet they'll be mighty disappointed on you, you'll be too busy to even talk to them..."
"stop"-Almond keep insisting as he tremble and started to grab his hair
"oh poor Pecan...she'll be the most devastated and would probably left you and the kid or she would have taken her...or you should have left her alone when you got that chance"
"I said STOP!"-he finally shouted as loud as a thunder, indicating that the storm has started outside. Almond had an angry look in his eyes as he panted but he soon changed it to sadness, his body felt weak and just like that he finally couldn't keep his composure any longer and collapsed down with his head between his knees, sobbing softly
"...why is this so difficult?...I can't do nothing right...I ruined everything...my life...my baby's life...I'm just...not good enough"-he muttered in between his sobs, increased with the minute; a deafening silence filled the room only Almond's sobs and the faint sound of the heavy rain were his only company; then another thought came to his mind, expecting the worse, he curled up tightly but a gentle feminine voice was heard, a very familiar voice to him
"You will always be good enough..."-the voice said to him, Almond's inner self was soon find in a familiar space, still teary eyed and a mess, he looked up and found in front of him, his beloved partner; Pecan Cookie, sporting her gentle smile and a caring look only he knew
He got up, with difficult as he tried to regain his balance-"But...I'm messing things up"-he said as he wiped a few tears of his face sobbing-"I'm tired of trying and scared of being a failure at this...and to you...to us...and the baby"-he said as he lower his head once more only for it to be lift up once more by the gentle touch of her hands as their eyes meet once more
"But you never give up...no matter how much you fail, you always get up and try your best, even if it looks tough...Now this may look hard, but I believe you can do this...trust in yourself like you've done before...now go my love...she needs you"-Pecan said as her voice started to fade bringing back the young detective into reality
He wiped the remaining tears as he looked around, he sighed as he took a deep breath which made him feel somehow more light weighted, all his negative thoughts seemed gone as he feel his mind more clearer, he then heard a soft whimper and soft sobs next to him the baby was curled up in a ball as she hiccuped, this made his heart drop as he gently picked her up and held her closer to his chest
"Shh shh shh, there, there. Its okay, its okay I'm here, daddy's here..."-he murmured as he hugged her, the baby cookie buried her face in his chest as she keep crying softly, Almond couldn't bare hearing her cry like that and he quickly grabbed a blanket and attempted to swaddle her, it wasn't perfect but it seemed to be an aid to soothe the freshly baked cookie
The storm keep pouring as another thunder was heard which made the baby cookie start to cry again but Almond quickly respond to that
"Shh shh, its alright, shh...I'm sorry for shouting"-he softly said, the baby sniffed and looked up at him while sucking on her hand-"I've promised that I'll take care of you but I-I don't have a clue on what I'm doing...I still don't know much but...but I gotta try...for you, sweetie..."-he keep rocking her and felt her tiny hand grabbing into his hand, she was getting sleepy and let out a soft yawned before dozing off
Almond looked at her tenderly, planted a kiss in her forehead before heading to the nursery and placing her into her crib, he quietly go out, took his phone out and dial a number; in the other end a male voice was heard
"Hello?"-said the male cookie
"Cronut...can you and the others come to my place? There's something I need to tell you"
