Robinrunner could only feel pain and it was annoying. His paws itched with desire to run or atleast get up. Robinrunner felt numb in his legs and he was now able to hear voices. He still couldn't make out what they were saying but consciousness began to creep back into his mind.

- Robinrunner how do you feel, a familiar voice said. Robinrunner recognised that the voice belonged to Sparrowstrike the medicine cat. Robinrunner considered keeping quiet but let out a grown. He liked to sleep.

- Like I have been run over by a monster, growned without opening his eyes. Robinrunner could hear Sparrowstrike snorted. Robinrunner opened his eyes just to see Sparrowstrike walking away towards the hearbstoradge. The strong scent of mixed herbs made Robinrunners head hurt.

Sparrowstrike returned not long after with some poppy seeds and some dock. Robinrunner looked interested in the herbs. Sparrowstrike dropped them before him and his tail twitched with an unspoken command. Robinrunner put his head down and quickly ate it up.

- You just need to rest you won't be able to return to your duties with that leg of yours but I assume that Shredstar is going to make you an elder sooner or later, Sparrowstrike said before turning around and walked back to her den where she laid down and not long after that Robinrunner could heat snoring. He sighed. Sparrowstrike had always wanted to be a warrior and she had been but then Tundeclans old medicine cat Salmonnose had died. Salmonnose had never had any apprentice and because Sparrowstike knew most of the warriors she had been appointed medicincat. Sparrowstrike was still allowed to have kitts and a mate as when she had trained an apprentice she would return to her warrior duties. Robinrunner had been young when she had been made medicincat and as he and Amberglow had been the only kits of his now dead mother and father she had wanted him as a medicine cat apprentice. Robinrunner didn't know eaxtly why she had chosen him but she had. Robinrunner had dreaded that fate and had done everything to become a warrior apprentice and he had succeeded. He assumed that Sparrowstrike still was angry over him becoming a warrior.

One of her words had caught his attention. That about him retiring because of his leg. Robinrunner looked down at his back leg and gasped when he saw it. His leg looked horrific. It had no fur left except small tufts of it. He also saw how a part of his bone laid close under his skin. It was full of dried out blood and scars. Robinrunner shook himself; this wouldn't stop him. He slowly rose onto his first three good legs and then pushed himself up with his good back leg. Some part of Robinrunners mind was amused that he could still move his leg.

Robinrunner limped towards the small puddle of vatter. There he sank down and drank big gulps of vatter. His dry throat thanked him and Robinrunner felt slightly better. He rose once again and was able to take two steps forward before his leg blistered with pain. Robinrunner gasped for air and his eyes momentarily went white. After a moment the pain slowly started to disappear. Robinrunner took a few unsure steps forward. Robinrunner was able to walk out into the clearing where he laid down. He could see Shredstar walk out on the tall rock. Something deep inside of Robinrunner knew that things would only go downhill from now.

- I call every cat old enough to catch their own prey to a clan meeting, he announced and sat down with his tail over his paws. Shredstar looked annoyed as Mariglodpaw was the last one to sit down next to her mentor Lightside. Robinrunner had never agreed with Shredstar but he was his leader and there wasn't anything to do.

- I have summoned you all to announce Robinrunners retirement, Shredstar meowed. '' Going straight to the point I see,'' Robinrunner thought dryly. He saw that the other cats didn't look surprised at all. ''Hazelfire must have told them'' Robinrunner assumed. His friend had never been able to keep his mouth shut.

Robinrunner was surprised that he hadn't reacted worse in the moment. Of course he hated the thought of being forced to retire but he was oddly calm. Even if Robinrunner would have wanted to claw Shredstars face he couldn't. Robinrunner laid his head on his paws and realised that he would never be able to hunt or run or even care for himself. He would be as helpless as a newborn kitten.

I have gotten some amazing feedback on this and I am so grateful. I have taken the advice to heart and I am going to try to act on it. I want to give you a big thank you for your help, you know who you are. I know this chapter is kinda short but I think that the next one will be a little longer. Thank you to everyone who has been reading and I will hopefully be back with chapter 8 on saturday. Maybe even earlier if I have time, who knows. See you all soon. :D
