I drop my bag at the main gate and wait for Sirena. I am there about an hour or so earlier than we agreed upon. The gang is mostly logged off and sleeping at this point. I kneel at my bag and rumage through one last time.
The sound of heels on a pair of boots knocking into the ground growing closer. I look up and see Sirena in a short black cloak. The cloak fits like an open hoodie but is trimmed at the bottom to stop near her waist. Her attire seems to always be fitted but tight. Interesting.
"Glad to see you are here early. I would've left you behind." Sirena just keeps on walking and not looking back at me.
She is quite the persistent woman I'll give- What the fuck is that? My eyes go wide and I point slightly at the little fur ball curled up on her shoulder. As Sirena turns slightly to face me, she puts her hands upon her hips.
"Are you coming along or what?"
"What the hell is that thing?" My finger us still pointing at the cat.
She glances back at it pets it slightly then looks back at me. "This is Sir Mittens, he is my familiar." The cat beams its eyes at me. His white body with small black stripes remind me of a white tiger. What stands out about this cat is its paws, they're all black.
Like it is wearing mittens...oh my gawds thisis going to be a long trip. My hand goes to cover my face and hide my smile. Gawds that poor cat.
A deep British accent speaks up, "Don't you dare try and mock me you filthy beast. Unlike you, I have a purpose to this young lady."
"You talk", I exclaim and drop my hand from my face.
"Of course I do words come out of this mouth too you know." Sirena looks a bit insulted from my outburst.
"Not you cutie, the cat is who I was referring to."
The cat's eyes change from their soft light blue to a dark saphire and snarls up a bit at me. "Watch your tongue boy!"
Sirena's face goes a bit pink as she stares with a stoic expression. "D-did you just call me cutie?"
I smirk a bit and spot the sun slowly creeping up into the sky. I pick up my bag and step next to her. I place a gentle hand upon her chin and look at her. "If you don't like that name I could call you something else, let's say beautiful?"
Her face goes a bit brighter in pink and her hands tighten up into small fists by her side. Wow...am I really doing this to her? My gaze falls to her lips and I stay there for a moment. Neither of us move a muscle for what feels like hours.
I slowly release her and go on ahead for her to follow. "Let's get a move on before we hit the night." I keep my back to her as I speak. I can't do this again. Just show her to the shrine, take her to the teleporting gate and leave. Don't get involved Nathan.
We walk for quite awhile until she decides to insist on horse backing as far as we can. I didn't argue with her in regards to it. Although I did remind her of the distance and cool down we will have to do before riding again.
Normally what a person walks in two days a horse can truncate to a matter of hours. However, once the horse times out you have to wait nearly a day and a half to get it back. So the use of said skill should be used wisely. Normally people ride and set up camp to break apart the cool down.
As we are riding there is barely any talking between the two of us. At one point we do stop and set up camp. I begin stretching to kick out the tension. Sirena walks a bit away from me and starts setting up her side. I lean up against a tree, close my eyes and try to get some rest.
A small explosion of magic occurs, causing me to jump to my feet in a defensive stance. Scanning around I see nothing out of the ordinary just a bunch of grassy hills and a decent sized cabin in the middle of the place. Wait a cabin? I stand up straight and pinch my nose. Please by the love of all that is good in people let this not be her.
I look up from my hand and there she is walking into the cabin. I slowly begin to walk towards her. I cant believe her. As I get about five feet from the door she exits with the cat in still wrapped around her neck.
"Would you mind explaining why there is a cabin here?"
She stares at me blankly and replies, "I don't like camping."
My mouth drops a bit as she holds her hands out, one over the other. She snaps her fingers in unison and a magic field generates from the house and pushes out to her her. As soon as it stops a few mosquitos drop to the ground.
"I hate bugs the most." Sirena shivers a bit and then walks back inside.
Oh this is going to be a longer journey than expected.
