The room's occupants keeps their eyes on me as mine stay on the fae. Kaldrin, a town that is home to all winter based characters. The place where many mixed race characters visit and reside. However, the type of people who run the town are nothing more than a bunch of crooks and thieves. Many who stay longer than a week end up in some form of debt to a certain person and have to stay. Some are able to avoid the debt and end up being bombarded by low levels demanding aid. Leaving is always going to be the hardest problem.
After all that we'll be climbing up Mount Kai-zen. Try standing outside during the worst part of a blizzard while wearing practically nothing. That is nothing compared to how it is on this mountain. The trail starts off nice, but once it starts to snow all hell breaks loose. There are a few people that can make it up there without trouble.
"I will aid you on the quest, but when we get near the town I call the shots." My eyes remain on her and I feel the air get slightly warmer.
Everyone's eyes shift to Sirena and her faces remains unchanged. She crosses her arms over her chest and sighs. "As long as you are willing to help you've got yourself a deal."
I close my eyes for a second and inhale slowly. I can feel my wolf's eyes showing when I glare at Ray, who is standing between Kirisai and Sabastien. She has her head down, hiding her face behind her hair.
My voice stays firm but clear as I speak. "You will stay here in this town until I return. No missions. No going out for a walk. No nothing. Am I clear?"
Ray slowly nods and Kirisai shivers a bit feeling my magic push down on everyone.
Zan is first to speak up and he grits his teeth before answering. "By what means do you think you can tell her-"
Zan was standing about five feet from me. He also wasn't trying to not fall over from how close I got in the blink of an eye. Zan also was not looking me dead into my eyes with my half form growling down at him.
I look around at everyone and speak clear as possible. "None of you know what this is about so don't you dare but in." I get small flashes of a merchant and his cocky smile.
Kirisai takes a few steps back raising his hands, not wanting to argue against me. Sabastien stands still watching us with his arms crossed. Sirena stands stoic with her arms still crossed analyzing the situation.
A minute goes by then another. Eventually Ray, keeping her face hidden from everyone, walks to the back and I hear her flop onto my bed. We will talk once I finish this up. I keep looking Zan in the face as he follows her with his gaze, then locks back onto my eyes.
"You have no right to-"
I jab a finger into his chest, hard enough that he takes a step back. I speak through gritting teeth, "Older brother and stronger than you. Don't think just because you help her out in her training that I will let you walk up to me like you own shit. I will break you boy! If you challenge me, understand I will have you at level one for for so long you will quit and go back to playing Dark Souls."
I turn to face Sirena and she looks slightly worried. My beast side is showing heavily based on Sabastien's glare. I try and talk normal for a moment to her and calm down at the same time. I hear Zan stomp his way out of the shop and slam the door upon his exit.
"Are you sure you can go on this trip Lad? Maybe you should just give her directions and a guide to how to get there."
I pinch the bridge of my nose lightly, "it won't be that simple, there are loads of creatures that attack at all times of the day. It would be better to go with someone who knows the land and can watch her back."
"But will you be all growling and moody the entire trip? Because if you are I will have to stock up on flea repellent and bring a rolled up newspaper." Sirena smirks raising an eyebrow at Sabastien while resting her hands on her hips and leaning slightly to the side.
Sabastien coughs a bit and hunches over a bit laughing hard. Kirisai snickers low, hidding his face behind a hand.
I roll my eyes and stare out the window. "We can leave tomorrow morning at first light."
"What happen to you calling the shots when we are near the town?"
I smirk at her as she raises an eyebrow at me."What time would suit you then, princess?"
Sirena draws a dagger quickly and places it near my throat. Glaring at me she speaks stern, "call me that again and it's off with your head peasant. First light is fine just make sure you are clean of fleas before being there." She turns and heads for the door. She looks back to briefly wave at Sabastien and Kirisai before leaving.
I walk into the back and see an abnormally large white wolf curled up in my bed. Her back is to me and she is snuggled up close to the forge.
I walk up to her and place a hand upon her back. She jumps at little at first, turning her large face towards me and showing me her big ruby eyes. Tears are sitting ready to fall from them any moment now.
I place a hand upon the top of her head and rest my forehead upon hers. Keeping my eyes closed I speak a promise that I always kept.
"I will be back for you my little one. Let me worry about the journey." Without another word spoke I rise from the bed and start packing. I switch out my tools and small trinkets for more essential needs.
I am nearly done packing when two small arms wrap around me from behind and squeezes lightly. Her body is still shaming a bit and her head is buried into my back. I stop moving and look down at her hands. "Just don't take too long, and dont do anything unnecessary."
I smirk and nod agreeing to her conditions, although anything could happen at any moment. It's best to be ready for it all.
