Thank goodness the paste incident didn't effect you as badly as the other kids. The worst of it was that your foot was stuck to the desk and it started to itch but honestly you had worse problems to focus on. "So young man, now you see there's a price to pay for eating paste. Would you say that loosing the use of your mouth was worth it?" Ms. Bitter hissed as Melvin stood in the front of the class with paste on his mouth. "Mmm hmm." He responded.
Out of the corner of the class you could hear Zim laughing. "Stupid silent glue boy." He said. You smirked at bit too. It was honestly nice to laugh after awhile. Things had been really rough for you. You thought your dumb days of anxiety were conquered but nope. Not at all. More sleep deprived nights worrying about if you were really just in the way of Dib, or you said something stupid, or something you did that kids remember.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the crash of lightning and raindrops quietly hitting against the window. You smiled a bit. You enjoyed rain very much. In fact it was quite relaxing for you. But as much as rain was relaxing, skool wasn't. You constantly found yourself watching Zim and Dib paranoid or nervous something bad was going to happen. You heard Dib start to yet again taunt Zim but you completely ignored it. Thank god the bell rang and you were eager to get out. As the other kids managed to get out of the paste, you ripped your foot from the desk and casually grabbed your stuff from your desk and went to your lockers. Could this day get any- "Heey Y/N!" You heard someone mockingly say behind you. Of course it had to be Chunk. "Do you still have that dumb little safety bunny with you?" He announced quite loudly for the other kids to hear. Everything went silent. You began to sweat. You had always carried a little stuffed bunny in your bag to ease some anxiety, but you guess that was something not everyone understood. You didn't know what to say. You scanned the room for Dib but he was nowhere to be found.
You were VERY nervous, but you managed to croak out something. "I-I-don't know what your t-talking about." He smiled and pushed you out of the way taking the bunny out of the bag. "Look everyone they still have it!" He held it up and everyone roared with laughter. You began to quiver and tear up. You ripped the bunny from his hands, zipped up the your bag, and slammed your locker stomping off crying. You could hear Jessica's laugh too. "What a baby." She replied. This made you feel even worse. After you got out of the school the kids all followed running to the rain. You didn't want to wait to walk with Dib or Gaz this time. You were still crying and you really didn't want to talk about it. As you stomped past him you could hear his voice. "Hey where are you going? Don't you want to help me with our fate of the world work?" You turned around and he got a look at your puffy red eyes. He could tell everything that happened just by your demeanor. "Oh...uh..I'm sorry I didn't see that you were crying..do you uh..need to talk abo-" you shook your head. "Thank you but I'm going home." You said and he seemed to understand.
After a long walk you were still tearing up as you remembered the kids at Skool. You got home to find your dad watching TV. You ran up to your room slamming your door and plopping yourself on the bed. Your Dad turned off the TV and went to your door with your Mother since she heard the door slam too. On the other side they could hear you crying. "Honey What's wrong?" Your mother asked. You didn't respond. Your father wanted to give a try, but didn't know what to say. Your mother gestured him to go on and give it a try. "Um, not every fish, is meant to swim hon." He said unsurely. "I don't understand fishing metaphors!" You cried out stuffing your face into your pillow.
(Here I go again with more movie references.)
Your mother opened the door. "Honey? Do you want to talk about what happened?" You shook your head. "Are you sure? It would really help." You didn't respond at first but then you got up. "A kid bullied me. But it's nothing really." Your Mom looked at you sadly. "Honey it's not nothing. Someone obviously hurt you and that means it's something." You sighed sadly. "Chunk took my Rabbit and showed to everyone and now everyone thinks I'm a baby. No one understands it's an anxiety mechanism..." You replied sadly drifting off. Your mother looked disgusted. "Those little as-" she began until you heard your father's voice. "(Mom's Name), Language." She sighed. "I cannot believe they would do something like that. You can't help your anxiety and that's ok. They don't have to understand it, but they should respect it." You nodded sadly. She looked at you in the eyes and held your hand. "Hey, it's going to be ok. Your father and I have been talking and we think we should get a counselor. If that's ok with you." Of course it was fine with you, but anxiety would mess up everything.
It always did.
"But what if I freak out or mess up?" You ask as your mother gave you a hug. "I'll be right there with you." She responded smiling. You couldn't help but smile back. "Now what do you want to eat for Dinner?" She asks. You thought for a moment but finally came up with something. "(Favorite Food) Please." She smiled and patted your head. "Then it's done." She got up and shut the door behind her until you were left alone with your own thoughts. You didn't want to be faced with these thoughts so for the rest of the night you decided to listen to music and play video games on your computer.
The day was cloudy and damp, but another school day was done and this time you walked home with Dib. "Why do you have a water balloon?" You asked. "Oh I forgot you weren't here to see this, come on follow me!" You shrugged and followed him. He finally stopped and- oh dear gosh.
"Hey Zim!" He called out ready to throw the balloon. You sighed and face palmed. As he threw the water balloon it bounced a bit and finally popped and splashed Zim. The thing was he was starting to smoke and was on the ground screaming. Did the water...burn him? This felt very wrong. No one deserved to be hurt like this. "Dib." You grabbed his shoulder before he walked up to Zim. "Help Him." You said in a soft voice. He looked at you shockingly. "Help the Alien bent on destroying Earth are you crazy? Did he do something to you?!" You cowered back and shook your head. "N-no...I'm sorry." He then continued to taunt Zim. You were too frustrated with yourself to notice anything they were saying. You shouldn't have been afraid of what Dib would think of you, you should of stood up for what you believed in, but he was your only friend right now and you didn't want to loose that. After that, Dib began to walk back home and you followed him. "Are you ok? Lately you've been...I don't know a little off. I'm starting to think a tired old shapeshifter took your place. And they do exist before you ask." You frowned looking the ground and sighed sadly. "Oh I'm fine." You responded. And you left it at that.
For the whole weekend you spent some time to yourself like reading and playing Animal Crossing and whatnot.
(Again you can pick your favorite video game but Animal Crossing is one of my many favorites.)
But sadly, good times must come to an end. Monday had finally arrived and your Mother was nice enough to drive you to school. Things were pretty quiet in front of the school yard until Dib came with a tank of water and a slingshot. "Oh dear god." You groan pinching the bridge of your nose. "Zim! Come out and face me you coward!" He yelled out as a few kids moved out of the way to reveal Zim but cowering pretty still. He kept yelling things to Zim like "Come at me scrublord, I'm ripped."...Well he really didn't say that but that was it in a nutshell.
You watched in awe as his machine finally took action and began creating water balloons to launch at Zim. Buuut this didn't go as you had expected and it went right through Zim and he disappeared. "A hologram." Your immediate thought was. For a few moments everything was silent. Until it happened.
A giant water balloon was falling from the sky and covering the sun. All the children were screaming and running away but you were in utter shock and terror. "SON OF A-" and before you could finish your sentence, the water ballon hit the ground and engulfed the school and presumably the city underwater. You were underwater too but your breath was running short. Everything had finally settled and you gasped for air. Your first thought immediately was your family. Were they ok? You began to freak out in the now shallow water. And seemingly like a miracle, your Mother had come over to find you tearing up. You hugged her tightly and she held your hand guiding you out. "M-mom? Is Dad ok? What about the house?" Your mom smiled. "Dad's fine and the house was protected by that iron forcefield case that came with our last muffler job." You were so confused. "Why a muffler job?" You asked looking at her. She shrugged. "I don't know, but it's cool." She said simply. Your brain hurt even more but you just decided to go with it.
As you got to your house it finally hit you. "Mom, shouldn't I be in school?" You mom smirked. "Yeah you and what school?" She asked snickering. "If they ask where you are I'll call them and said you were sick. But I doubt it since it's all washed away." You nodded and went to your room and lied down on the bed. At that moment you felt the need to listen to music out of stress and frustration. As you shuffled through one song stood out. You stopped and listened to it letting the lyrics sink in as they were deeply resonating your thoughts.
"But I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here."
(A/N: Sorry this chapter was a bit long, I just went on a writing rampage and couldn't really stop. Also the lyrics to the song were from Creep By Radiohead if you were curious, and it in no way belongs to me.)
