Finally Friday night had arrived and you were currently walking to Zim's house to pick him up. You were really nervous on how this would end up but you never know. As you faced the house you couldn't help but notice the Garden Gnomes scattered across the yard. Their eyes were cold and calculated, almost inhuman. As you stepped on the yard cautiously, nothing happened so far. Which was good. You didn't want to be hurt trying to get a gosh darn alien to play golf with you. If you were going to go you would rather go heroically or be left to rot in peace. But that was besides the point.
You knocked on the door only to find Zim answer it, and the sight surprised you. It was Zim but in a old fashioned golfer's outfit. You snorted and started giggling uncontrollably. "What's so funny you smelly earthpig?!" He yelled and with that you stopped. "N-nothing. I'm sorry." He rolled his eyes and shut the door behind him. "Let's just get this over with." He said grumbling stomping out.
The two of you had finally went back to your house and climbed into your car with your parents waiting. "Hello Zim!" Your Mother greeted smiling. "Yeah sure whatever." He responded crossing his arms sitting in the back seat. You frowned a bit. You at least wanted to try to have a conversation with him. Maybe it would just take some time.
As the two of you sat in the car silently you heard Let's Dance By David Bowie. You smiled and started to sing softly and dance a bit. "Let's Dance! Put on your red shoes and dance the blues!" You sang softly dancing a bit. Zim looked at you and was very confused . "What are you doing?" He asked. "Well, I'm singing along to music!" You responded simply smiling. He shrugged and looked out the window some more. You tried to have fun by tapping his shoulder to the beat singing again. "Let's Dance! To the song they're playing on the radio!" You continued as your mom started singing along until you reached the mini Golfing place. "W-well! Here we are!" You said happily. "Yes yes. We're here. Can we get going now?" Zim said behind you. You sighed and nodded. "Yeah," You responded sadly. Later, you approached the front booth with your parents to get the golf clubs and golf balls. Zim grabbed his stuff and marched to the first course looking at his stuff trying to figure out what to do. "Do you need help?" You asked. Zim scoffed. "Zim needs no help!" He yelled attempting to whack the ball with the club like a baseball. "Z-Zim! That's not how you do it!" You exclaim a bit worried for the other people here. "Please let me help." You said extending your arm to take the ball and club.
He growled giving in and handed you the club and ball. This was progress. "So you want to put the ball on the pad they have there." You squatted down and placed his ball gently on the pad. You then stood up and grabbed the club again further explaining what you need to do. "Got it?" You asked nicely giving him a bit of a smile. He grabbed the club from you and followed your instructions. In a stunning turn of events, the ball landed very closely to the hole. Zim was obviously happy about this as he laughed and shouted about how great he was. You smirked and gave him some encouragement. "Wow! You're really good at this." You said. "I know." He responded. After your mom and dad went it was your turn. As luck would have it, you got a hole in one. "Well look at that!" You said exclaiming. Zim looked awestruck. "W-wha?! How come you got a hole in one? I'm supposed to be the best at the mini golf!" He yelled in disbelief. "Well, you just have to keep practicing. You'll get it I promise." You said reassuringly. As you were walking to the next course, you didn't realize Zim talking in the background. "Oh I'll get it Y/N stink. I'll get it." He said following you ready to beat you hardcore.
As you kept taking about 3 or 2 turns to get the ball in the hole, Zim took about 4 or 5. This frustrated him as he kept stomping away and throwing his club down. You didn't want this night to end on a bad note so you attempted something. You purposely began to do badly to cheer up Zim. Of course he loved every moment of this, as he was rubbing his victories in your face. You didn't mind this at all since It was just Zim after all. After the game had ended, your mother had ended up in first place and Zim in second. He was a little mad but your mom seemed to play along and said Zim did a great job. After returning the clubs and balls, the four of you went to the Ice Cream Stand. Zim of course didn't order any. "Hey...do you want to try mine? I feel really bad you didn't get any." He shook his head. "Yes, yes, I can assure you I can live without that human filth." You shrugged and kept eating the ice cream until it was completely gone. "Well....I-I had fun tonight." You said smiling a bit looking at Zim. Before he could respond back your Mother called you back to go home. You sighed a bit and went to the car. As you were driving back you looked at Zim who was looking at the window. You weren't kidding about what you said earlier, even though he was VERY anger prone and narcissistic, he was really fun.
As you arrived to Zim's house you hopped out of the car quickly to walk him to his house. "Hey um...I promised you something and it's only fair I return the favor," You said. "It wasn't a virus. It's a mixtape of music. I gave it to Gir because he seemed to really like it." Zim starred at you. "That was it?" You nodded. "...Well Y/N human I say we call it a night ok bye bye now." And with that he shut the door in your face leaving you with nothing but dogs howling and the rumbling engine of the car that awaited you.
Later that night you were in bed pondering. You realized maybe he wasn't as threatening and cold hearted as you made him out to be at first. In fact he was the opposite. Full of determination and energy.
Maybe this was the start of something new? Or maybe this was just something out of the ordinary. Either way, you didn't know. But it sure as hell couldn't hurt to think that.
