"So you cheat on your wife just because you want to date me?"

Noah's words sting, his heart is pounding in his chest. He tries to steady his breath, he shouldn't say silent and let Noah misunderstand.

"It's not like that.."

"Then what?"

Noah's tone comes out cold and harsh, it's the first time he's ever heard him use such an angry tone. He's taken aback, for a second, he almost breaks down.

"I've had enough of your lies, I'm calling the wedding off!"

Noah's words ring in his head, it's as if time has stopped and only Noah's cruel words repeat in his head. He opens his mouth to protest, but Noah just cuts him off and leaves the room with angry steps.

How could this have happened? Everything was perfect, until the day an unwanted guest visited them.

"Wow!"

Noah's eyes sparkle, he exclaims happily as he stares at the ceremony venue. Joy radiating from his perfectly sculpted face.

"I'm glad you like it."

"You really out did yourself."

Noah walks around the venue, admiring Adam's work with an excited expression. He inspects every detail, he looks like a kid in a toy shop. Adam laughs to himself at his fiance's happy expression.

"I love it so much, I can't wait to see you walk down the aisle."

Adam blushes, a bit nervous by what his husband is excited for. He looks down at the checklist displayed on his tablet, he still hasn't had the chance to try on his wedding suit. Honestly, he doesn't want to. Being the one wearing white in his own wedding feels so foreign, but of course he's still a bit excited.

Noah's request that he would be the bride ring in his head, he had no choice but to agree, plus, it won't be so bad.

"How about you check on the catering? I'm going to check on the reception venue."

Noah nods and happily walks away, when he's finally far away, Adam sighs in shame. He really shouldn't be embarrassed for something like this, it's his and Noah's wedding. That's all that should matter.

After checking on the reception venue, he goes to the kitchen. When he enters, he can see Noah's back facing him as he is trying out the food. Adam approaches, but something catches his eye. Noah isn't smiling, his expression looks blank, and sort of serious.

He thinks back to the day he got sick, Noah also had that same serious expression. That face that doesn't suit its owner gives him nothing but anxiety.  As soon as Noah sees him, he puts on a sweet smile and expresses how good the food is. But Adam can tell it's fake, noticing his sudden silence and lack of response to his comment, Noah gently taps him on the shoulder.

"Adam, is something wrong?"

Adam quickly shakes his head and forces a small smile.

"I'm glad you like it, I chose the menu with your tastes in mind."

"You're the sweetest."

Noah kisses him fondly on the cheek, Adam laughs, he doesn't notice Noah staring at him weirdly.

•~•~•~•

Adam wakes up the next day with a little headache, perhaps it's because he and Noah were drinking all night long while reviewing the wedding schedule.

He groans and rubs his tired eyes, whenever he wakes up, he always has sore eyes. Maybe because he sleeps late.

Adam sits up, after a few moments, he fully wakes up. Only then does he notice Noah standing across him, his arms are crossed and he has a strange expression.

"Someone texted you."

Adam blinks in confusion, he turns to the bedside table and grabs his phone. He opens his messages and sees the latest message. The contact name surprises him, he quickly frowns and turns it off.

"It's probably just a spam email."

"Read the text."

Adam sighs and opens the message.

[Can we meet up Adam? I love you.]

His first thought is surprise, then irritation. His ex-wife's message displayed on his phone's screen has ruined his morning completely.

He takes a moment to shortly reply before raising his head back to Noah, who is staring with a strangely cold expression.

[Whatever it is you want Laura, I'm not interested.]

Adam starts to get nervous when he sees Noah's clearly upset expression.

"Don't worry about it, it's just my sister.."

"Sister?"

Noah's frown deepens, clearly not buying his obvious lie. He tries to think of a better excuse, but Noah dismisses him.

"Perhaps it's better you meet up with your 'sister', it looks like she wants to meet you."

"There's really no need for that.."

Adam tries to deny his request, but Noah seems insistent.

"I'm also curious, I want to meet her as well."

What Noah says is strange, why does he want to meet her so badly? Adam is getting nervous, he doesn't want Noah to meet Laura and get upset. But he also knows that if he keeps making excuses, Noah is going to get even angrier. So he just silently nods and texts Laura to come over.

•~•~•~•

Adam sits nervously as Laura is calmly sipping her tea and Noah watches her coldly. He anxiously bites his nails as the atmosphere gets even more awkward. Strangely, Noah doesn't stop him despite the fact that he noticed Adam biting his nails.

"So, you're Adam's sister?"

Noah finally breaks the silence with a question, Adam begins to panic. Laura pauses and puts the teacup down, her face looks shocked.

"What are you talking about? I'm his wife!"

Laura says, her face looks desperate, as if she's been badly hurt. Adam loses his cool at the obviously false accusation. He raises his voice and starts denying her lies.

"What do you mean my 'wife'? We got divorced, remember? We are not married!"

Laura's face contorts, her eye brows droop down and her eyes fill with tears.

"We are..! You said you loved me.. how could you cheat on me? Get married and leave me?"

Laura starts silently crying, Adam is a little confused. He turns his gaze to Noah who is staring at her in shock, and.. pity?

Noah rushes to her side, he strokes her back and starts gently comforting her.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't know he was married.."

"How could he do this to me? When I'm carrying his child..!"

Adam and Noah both have shocked expressions, Adam is confused by what she means.

"What..?"

"I'm pregnant!"

Laura exclaims, her eyes filled with tears. Adam just stares in surprise, not completely understanding what she means.

He turns to Noah, and notices his face. Noah's expression looks angry, no, livid. He grits his teeth and walks over to Adam, his amber eyes stare at him with a look of pure rage. Then, he raises his hand. Adam then feels a striking pain on his cheek.

"What kind of unloyal piece of sh*t are you!? You abandon your pregnant child and wife!? Answer me!"

Adam touches his cheek in surprise, his eyes bulged wide. For the first time in his life, that slap felt personal.

Laura stops Noah and just stares at him with sad eyes.

"I'm going to take my leave, it seems you two need to work out your differences."

Noah's face softens and he nods, Noah walks her off, he then returns with that same angry expression. Whenever Dominic hits him, he usually just shakes it off and puts on a brave face. But this time however, the person hitting him is his lover.

"Adam."

"Yes..?"

Noah gives him a cold stare, Adam averts his gaze.

"So you cheat on your wife just because you want to date me?"
