"Adli! Long time no see, why did you want to meet up so suddenly?"

Adam tears his gaze from his face being reflected on the coffee in front of him. He raises his gaze up to the person who has just greeted him. He just turns his head away, much to the other person's disapproval of his non-existent greeting.

"Don't ignore me!"

Esther slams his hand on the round table and gives Adam an annoyed face, his beautifully sculpted features form an angry expression.

"Just sit down."

Adam says, not turning his head back at him. Esther sits down and looks down at the coffee cup Adam had ordered for him in advance.

"So, what did you need to talk about?"

Esther says while elegantly sipping his coffee, Adam pauses, he bites his lip till it gets white. His eyes sting with tears.

"Noah called off our engagement.."

He manages to mutter, Esther chokes on his coffee and starts coughing. He looks at Noah, surprised.

"What?? Why?"

Esther stands up and slams his hand onto the circular table, his eyes show confusion and slight fury.

"Laura said she was pregnant, with my child."

He mutters, closing his eyes. His face makes a slightly sad expression, Esther slams his hand on the table again, looking even more furious.

"What? That's impossible! Talk to her! Make her admit."

Esther says, Adam just averts his gaze. Esther continues to pester him till Adam eventually agrees. It would be better to clear the misunderstanding. He doesn't want them to call off the wedding, he doesn't want them to break up.

The thought scares him, to the point that his heart aches just thinking about it. Adam looks up, his distressed grey eyes meet with Esther's blue eyes.

"Esther, what if we break up..?"

His voice sounds so pitiful and desperate, as if begging Esther for the answer he's looking for. Esther's eyes bulge wide in surprise, not expecting such a sullen face from Adam.

"Of course not Adli, he loves you very much."

"You haven't even met him."

Esther blinks, before awkwardly laughing. He gently pats Adam's shoulder, offering a gesture of reassurance.

Adam nervously stares at the door in front of him, his index finger hovering over the doorbell. Anxiety is taking over him, little by little. The courage that Esther had given him has suddenly fluttered away. He swallows his fears and gently presses the button with a slight force.

Noah was so upset with yesterday's events that he ended up staying at his own apartment. Being alone in his house after so long, it felt like winter had returned. After a brief silence, Adam decides that Noah is probably too upset at him to answer the door.

He's about to turn away, when he hears a click of the door, the faint creaking sound.

"Adam?"

He flinches, his legs don't move, sweat runs down his face as he nervously turns his head. He already feels like crying, guilt is eating him up.

"Noah.."

He suppresses the urge to bite his fingers, if he upsets Noah even more, he might tick him off. Speaking of which, Noah's expression looks quite unpleasant, as if he's staring at something disappointing.

"I.."

"Why are you here?"

Noah cuts him off coldly, his face is as angry as yesterday. Adam places a hand on his cheek, the same one Noah had struck. He feels tense, like he's being punished.

"Adam, why are you here?"

Noah repeats the question, afraid that he'll raise his voice, Adam attempts to explain himself.

"I just wanted to clear up what happened yesterday."

"You mean, how you basically cheated on your lovely wife this entire time?"

Noah's words stab him like a sharp dagger, he squeezes his chest, feeling even worse than he already did.

"It's not like that.."

"Forget it, I don't want to hear it. How can I trust you now? What if you betray me?"

Noah's eyes contort, the pained expression makes his heart throb. Noah shuts the door in his face, not saying another word.

This is all Laura's fault, it's all her fault.

•~•~•~•

Adam pounds on Laura's door, his eyes gleaming with rage. Laura opens the door with a calm expression, as soon as she sees him, a smirk plays on her lips.

"Oh look who we have here."

"Tell Noah the truth!"

Laura looks surprised by his raised voice, but then gives him a smug look. He can see the amusement in her eyes, as if she was expecting this.

"Tell him what?"

"That you're not pregnant!"

He had never felt more angry in his entire life until now, he can feel his blood boil. Not only does she barge into his life right after coldly divorcing him, not to mention the abuse she put him through, but now she goes off and ruins his life like this?

"I am pregnant, it's just not yours."

She says firmly, the wicked grin of her face makes him even more frustrated. He has the urge to just slap her straight across the face, but he can't lose his cool. He has to be the bigger person.

"Then tell Noah that it's not mine."

Gritting his teeth, he clenches his fists, resisting the urge to punch this woman's face. She innocently flutters her eyelashes, before giving him a mocking look.

"In your dreams, I won't let you be happy."

"You're sick."

He finally loses his cool, he raises his hand to slap her, when a hand suddenly stops him. He turns his head to see a man, looking as furious as him. Then, he feels a painful smack to his cheek, causing him to fall to the floor from impact.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this man is Laura's lover, before he can even pick himself back up, the man proceeds to hit him again.

•~•~•~•

Adam sits by the door mat of his lover's home, pain surging from his entire body. This entire day was a mess he doesn't know how to fix, his marriage might as well be doomed to end. Staring at the forming puddles on Noah's lawn, he sighs, feeling exhausted. The heavy rain only makes his condition worse.

The door suddenly unlocks, surprised, Adam turns his head.

"Adam?"

Noah is staring at him, his face looks surprised. Suddenly, his expression harbors fear, as if he saw something tragic.

"Why are you just sitting there? It's cold, come inside.."

Noah questions him frantically, his voice sounds worried, but somehow fake. Adam gets up, facing Noah with a timid expression.

"Pardon me, I'll take my lea-"

Before he can finish his sentence, Noah grabs his wrist and practically drags him inside. His face looks angry, but at the same time, worried.

Noah leads him to the living room, he pushes him into the couch before gently cupping his cheeks.

"What happened to your face?"

Ah.

Adam turns his head away, ashamed. But Noah doesn't let him, he asks again.

"I just wanted to clear up the misunderstanding with Laura, but I lost my temper."

He says briefly, Noah doesn't seem to believe him.

"Who did this to you?"

His voice firm, anger can be seen in his eyes.

"Her boyfriend."

Noah's grip on his cheeks tighten, the roots on his hand twitch with anger.

"That son of a b*tch.."

Noah grits his teeth, anger clear on his face.

"Noah, calm down."

"How can I? You're practically black and blue!"

Adam can see tears forming in Noah's eyes, causing Adam even more confusion. Why is Noah so angry? Doesn't he hate him?

Oblivious to the situation, Adam decides to ask.

"Don't you hate me?"

He asks, averting his gaze. Noah's eyes bulge wide in surprise, before shaking his head.

"No, of course not. Why would I? I was just angry.. It hurt to learn I was just your 'mistress'.."

Noah confesses, his eyes pleading for forgiveness.

"We divorced, she was terrible to me. She lied about everything.."

Noah once again blinks in surprised, before face palming in frustration.

"F*ck, I'm so stupid.. I knew it, I shouldn't have believed her.. but I did.."

Noah hugs him tightly, apologizing to him in tears.

"I called the wedding off, I hurt you and now you're hurt.."

Noah continues to cry in his arms, apologizing constantly. Adam gently pats his back, holding back tears.

•~•~•~•

"Did you do this?"

Noah stares at his torn and bloody fingers, a pained expression on his face. Adam nods, feeling guilty. Noah just sighs and starts applying ointment.

"A few weeks ago, I received text messages from a woman asking if I was her husband's affair partner. I originally didn't think it was you, or believed her lies. But then you started acting strange, I thought you were hiding something from me. So I checked that woman's social media account and found pictures of you and her together. I was afraid of the truth, so I didn't say anything. In the end, I foolishly believed in her lies."

Noah explains everything, Adam can see the guilt in his drooped eyes. He can tell he's feeling regretful, Adam decides to also explain.

"I loved Laura, very much. But, she changed, she became someone I feared. She would physically and verbally abuse me, eventually she divorced him. When we started dating, our divorced had already been finalized. She said she wanted to ruin my life, she probably didn't like the fact that I was happy without her. The child isn't mine, actually, I'm starting to suspect that she cheated on me during our marriage."

After his explaination, Noah's expression is in-between shock and anger. Adam places a gentle kiss on Noah's forehead, causing the other man to blush in surprise.

"It's alright Noah, It doesn't matter anymore. I'm just happy we cleared things up.."

Noah chuckles, pecking his lips softly.

"Yeah, I'm glad."
